While I would have no problems with the Rangers choosing somebody from within, Burke has built the foundation for championship or contending teams in Vancouver and Anaheim. I actually think he has been terrific in his time in Toronto, he took a team with absolutely no assets and built a pretty good foundation for them going forward. Yea, the Kessel trade backfired on him but he was under pressure to rebuild quickly and hell, he still got a young exciting forward who scored 82 points as a 24 year old.
Makes sense to me with the Rangers without gabby for the first few months. The Pens have done a decent job replacing staal with sutter and cal o'reilly might surprise a few people. I think the biggest question with the pens is what kind of a season will fluery have, especially when they lost arguably their best defensive defenseman in michalek. Vokun meanwhile can be one streaky goalie, I would know since he has won me and lost me many a fantasy hockey season.

to be fair, st. croix is still under the radar, hrivik and jean haven't really proven themselves. Yogan and bourque are not high end prospects (it looks like bourque, if he makes it, will only be a checker). Miller is interesting, he could end up a mike richards type or a great 3rd liner/checker type. Fast, Fogarty and Skjei seem to have some high upside. I do agree though, the system will not be anywhere near baron. Kreider.....he's going to be a beast....
