RADIO RAHEEM! So stoked on this drop. A friend of mine has a pair of the 2003 retro's that puts a mile wide jealousy streak through me every time he wears them. Also, one of those shoes that looks just as good (maybe better) a little beat as it does crisp IMO.
Nice to see these back. Still baffles me why they made the elephant print so dark on both these and the '06's. Regardless, undisputed classic.
@JulianScott @NYCNATIVE917 Agreed. I like the sentiment behind this and doing something is always better than doing nothing, but lets get real: This is a pure headline grabber. If you want to do some substantial good, eBay auction these like the Air Mags, then purchase THOUSANDS of GR Asics at wholesale (Which a guy/store like Fieg/Kith could easily do, and likely have their purchase matched by Asics), and make a far bigger impact.
My 2010's are still in good shape, but these are always worth a re-up.
@Lilmr81 You make it sound like JB JUST started making money? They were using the black & grey box for years and still managed to bring out the retro box for both the 3's and 4's 23rd anniversary. I'm not putting it past JB to cheapskate out on those next year, but the manufacturing cost of the boxes is practically nothing, and the pre-releases (aka shady b-grades) that were popping up for the 3's & 4's all came with the standard black & grey.
While I'm glad Nike toned the VNTG midsole thing down on these; if they're going to do a first time retro, put it out clean. Still, gonna have to cop.
@Slick_kicks Right on, enjoy 'em. As for me, well I guess you know you've officially become an old head when you settle for a Jordan retro over a NB drop.
@Slick_kicks You got lucky, man. Those sold out with the quickness.
Killed it on the Kennedys, Killed it on these. Can't wait.
The AM2 Light are the front runner for my most wanted model to retro. The original squared were more comfortable and didn't get that weird forefoot bend the light was prone to, but look at that silo. sick as f***!
Looks like the same material JB used for last years Black/Metallic V's, but overall, looking pretty good, even in the sample stage. It'll be nice to cop these by themselves without having a pair of 19's grandfathered in.
