Great post - it's really important to make sure that thumbnail images are attention grabbing and attractive. Along with your video's title, they can be the difference between people watching your video and scrolling right past it!
Interesting, from the Nike campaign it wasn't clear at all that they weren't an official sponsor!
What a cheeky cat!
This gives a great perspective on the impact that videos have on teens - right from the horses mouth! It's inspiring to see what the younger generation are doing with social media and that not only do they see the entertainment value of social media and video, but also the social change that can take place when these media are used in the right way.
What excellent tips. It's true that using odd or prime numbers in blog posts and in titles gets more interest, it makes sense that should work for video titles as well!
We wrote a blog post about optimising your video for search recently, but it's good to see you've gone even more in depth with this post. Would love some feedback about our blog if you had time to read it!

Thanks for sharing these tips. A great resource for video makers.
What an amazing interactive animation! Just goes to show how effective animations can be at showing information that could otherwise look quite dull.
Circles are fantastic. They've made it so much better to share information with targeted people. It is a little concerning the difference between the "page" function and just having a profile. I recall recently Google+ made it easy to transfer profile information onto pages, but it doesn't seem to have taken up yet.
It's exciting to hear that podcasting could have a home on Google+! The video aspect of it is really great, the hangout function has been dynamite from the beta version. Great post!
It's a really good idea to email people and let them know you've used their link in your post. Creating connections and partnerships through blogging. It's always a great feeling to know that somebody's reading your blog and sharing it with others. Really great tip Sarah, thanks!
Love the "Video won't kill the blogging star" title. It's so true that videos are a great way to boost your blog's content. There's a potential to generate a real following by becoming a regular video blogger. Video blogs definitely give a real insight to the personality of your company/business or even just provide a great way for people to get to know you! And those web video statistics.. well they're just great aren't they. We recently did a post about how much of an impact web videos are having lately: http://www.qudos-animations.co.uk/blog/10-need-to-know-web-video-statistics/
A selection of great posts! It's so great you give other writers the chance to share their thoughts with your audience. We're working on a story idea about web videos to send your way shortly...
Thanks for posting this. It's interesting to see that average video length is increasing, especially in the wake of YouTube's video length counter increasing too.
Those four questions are a really good template for every small business to keep in mind. I think it's important for people to do their research about what sort of industry/field the social media consultant has worked in before.. that way they understand the issues you're going through and it's easier to navigate through potential marketing problems. You need to speak the same language. Thanks for another great post Sarah!
I think as a marketer, you become sort of numb to the idea that people actually don't care about things that are boring or uninteresting or just "normal". As a consumer, the idea of the question "why create quality content" is plain silly! Why make something if you're not making your best work? I think if marketers can't be bothered putting in the effort to make something quality, then no audience is going to be bothered to seek it out.
I love your Gin & Topics! One of the first things I read on a Monday morning, a great way to start the week!
I wish I had as many gadgets as you! The most important thing when I travel is my laptop, which handily, my backpack has a built in laptop sleeve for! Also in total agreement that having a pen and paper and a *real* book to read are essential..
Hey Sarah! I really liked the way you wrote this post, clear and concise advice. We recently did a similar post about "What you should know about content marketing", but I liked the way yours was set out. Plus your blog design is lovely. Definitely going to add to the RSS feed =D
