@_Wolverine_  @Tnhgeno I find the ESPN situation to be a bit of a catch 22. They claim to be the 'worldwide leader in sports', yet only cover the brands that pay them to do so. Not that I don't think ESPN should be paid for their services, but how can you claim to be the leader in sports news if you flat out refuse to cover a sport because they don't have a contract with you?

@ThroatShot    @AppState I'm pretty sure any of us could get 14 goals in a season on a line with Datsyuk! And I don't even play hockey

For Unsung Hero, I agree with Kris Draper being the primary choice, but I think I'd also have to give nods to Holmstrom and McCarty too. Neither one had the scoring flash of the Federov's, Yzerman's, Datsyuk's, etc. But both guys were great 'team first' kinda guys and neither guy took a shift off. They had a very specific job and both did it marvelously

@AppState  Outside of his abilities in the shootout, I see no REAL reason to have Bert. He doesn't really do much for us outside of his shootout ability, in my opinion

This is probably a dumb question but....If there IS an NHL lockout, does that mean the smaller leagues like the ECHL, CHL, QMJHL and all the other ones have to stop too?

@thebiglachovsky We can only HOPE the season starts on time. I get the sinking feeling it won't though =\

@ThroatShot  @Reddy  @Josh Howard I'm excited to see how well Kronwall takes the reins as a top pair D-man on our team! Hopefully Kindl can take a step up with his game as well

@Jordan_Reis  @TomBarber  I was saying the same thing the other day. As much as I'd of loved to had Parise and Suter, I wouldn't want them for 13 years each. Our defense could use an upgrade, but let's face it, there will never be a replacement for what Lidstrom brought to this team. I'm not panicking just yet. Let's play a few games and see where the chips may fall

@freakazoid0587 If we're giving up Franzen OR Filppula then I'd really, REALLY hope we'd get a really solid D man in return, but I can't see us getting a top tier D man for either of those two AND Nyquist

We obviously need help on D, but as tjmendiola said, the new CBA is gonna cause the salary cap to come down, and a few of these teams are gonna have to shed salary to become cap compliant. While I was sad that we didn't get any of the big named free agents, I'm also not mad about being handcuffed to them for 10+ years when most of them won't be worth these contracts in 5 years time

@Josh Howard Personally, I don't want Weber for 14 years. He is a great player now, and will be for the next couple of years. But with his style of play, his body will give out before the contract does.

@moorecha  @JJfromKansas Im honestly surprised Kenny hasn't offered Semin a 2 year, $10 million contract yet. Or at least thats what *I* would offer if I were calling the shots haha

@garth Im not denying Yzerman made his team better, because he definitely did. And I know we're gonna have to pay to get quality talent. I'm not above that, but again, Im not trying to hand out a 2 year/$7.5 million dollar contract to a 37 year old, injury prone Sami Salo. We have enough aging talent. As for Carle, he may of had more points then Lidstrom, but he's nowhere near the same talent level. Hell, I don't think Carle is as good as Kronwall. His closest comparison, in my opinion, would be White

I'd be okay with Semin on a one or two year deal, and for absolutely no more then $5 per season, and even that's pushing it. I also think Tampa overpaid for both Salo and Carle, so I don't really think Steve 'out managed' Kenny in that respect. Tampa also has a pretty weak crop of d-men outside of Hedman. I like both Salo and Carle, but neither for the money they're getting paid. Tampa can keep them.
