You're manipulating facts and figures. You are taking out of equation the factor of rosters coaches have. What sort of rosters did Tippett, Ruff had compared to Pens roster? Laviolette, Julien, Sutter achieved better results than DB with worse rosters.

@JenBroflovski @Bradley James McEachern So you're happy as long as Flyers suck? Is it enough for you?
I'm happy when my Pens win, first and foremost.
2 years, 3 months ago on Some additional details about the Shea Weber's offer sheet from the Flyers and how it affects the Penguins. | July2012
@YinzerinCT @Bradley James McEachern Not at all.
Is Ray Shero annoying me and others on purpose?
@Bradley James McEachern I'm sure they'd much rather laugh thinking how their team tore us apart in April.
@Bradley James McEachern I think Flyers fans are laughing their butts off after reading your post.
And they have valid grounds to.
@Bradley James McEachern Did I miss something? Did we sign a couple of reliable shutdown blueliners and a good 4M-winger for Sid while I was absent?
@JenBroflovski Yeah, reality hurts. I know. And even causes reading malfunction.
Yeah, reality hurts. I know.
@JenBroflovski Yeah, reality hurts. I know.
@YinzerinCT Will it help Penguins to make playoffs? Or will it make Shero more qualified as GM?
Well, other GM's are signing/trading players, making their franchises stronger and more competitive.
Shero... Basically, sitting with his thumb up his 5-hole and losing players.
I hope I'll be wrong but so far it looks like we'll be happy to even make it to playoffs next year - assuming, the season won't go down the drain because of CBA talks.
Bylsma has got plenty of reasons to be satisfied with TK, Tangradi or Bennett in the top-6 role. He's coming off a fantastic post-season run, and the greatest thing for him must be that he somehow managed to keep his job after that impresive run. He practically feels untouchable, a holy cow, and can say/do whatever kinds of things without any consequences from Shero.

@JenBroflovski Tried. RTFM.
2 years, 3 months ago on Oh look another questionable report of Alex Semin signing with the Penguins based on the same false report from two nights ago | July2012
Guys I can't help myself, help me please. I'm going totally nuts every tiem I read this "Shero is happy with his roster" thing. To me it sounds equal to "I like getting raped by Flyers in the first round, allowing 30 goals in 6 games in the process"
I've tried taking poison, smashing myself against the wall and jumping off a bridfe. Nothing helps. What else could anyone recommend?
@Flip Nobody cares about winning streaks/MVP titles/Jack Adams Awards in the regular season. It's Stanley Cup that only matters.
In the Cup we won two games just because Flyers got too relaxed and overconfidenr. As soon as they got their act together, we were destroyed once and for all, without any chances over the course of game 6.
Open your eyes .
2 years, 3 months ago on Questions about Shero are valid, but criticism? Get real.
Shero chose to let Bylsma and his assistants stay. It means one thing: in his opinion the problem was not with managing the players, it was with players themselves. So - where are new, better players, I am asking?
@WetShoes @KingOfNoPants @PensAreYourDaddy You are using "if"'s for argument. I'm using facts. He didn't strengthen the roster lsat summer. He didn't strengthen it before Playoffs. We were tron apart by Flyers. Period.
@akus @KingOfNoPants @PensAreYourDaddy I want to see a fool that would trade Rick Nash or Bobby Ryan for Simon Despres and Derrick Pouliot.
@pokecheck @PensAreYourDaddy @Flip Give me a name of some one we can still sign (Philippe Dupuis? No, thanks) or someone we can trade for a good player.
@akus @PensAreYourDaddy @Flip He is stockpiling young inbexperienced puck-moving defenseman. In their own end they are soft and unreliable. Besides, he keeps them in the minors even when they are NHL-ready. I'm not buying this excuse.
@Flip Where were "the league MVP and his all-star Winger, and the best player in the league (after Geno, of course" when we were getting pulverised by Flyers? The answer is: THEY ARE NOT ENOUGH TO COMPETE!!! We need a stronger roster, especially on the blue line.
@PensAreYourDaddy @Flip Can you give me an idea, whom can we sign now? And whom can we trade for some decent top-six winger or top-4 blueliner?
Unless a miracle happens, we'll start a season with virtually the same roster that was raped by Flyers, minus Staal Michalek Sullivan and Asham, plus Glass and Sutter. I call it EPIC FAIL.
@Flip Nope. At the end of the day, we'd end up with two good players. And now we are with even weaker lineup than in April (when it was horrible enough)
@KingOfNoPants @PensAreYourDaddy Last year people justified Shero's passiveness saying that he could make a move before the trade deadline. Result? He acquired NOONE at trade deadline, and we were destroyed by Flyers. Old story is old, I'm not buying it. We need to build a stronger squad HERE AND NOW.
@Flip Suter let Shero know right away he did want East, and Parise's choice came down to Devils and Wild. And - good NHL-level GM must have a scent for deals and decisions. Where was Shero's scent when he was staking the whole season on one player that had multiple other options?
@PensAreYourDaddy @KingOfNoPants 1) Can you give me a couple of names of better players who are still available on the market?
2) Nothing is better? Only if you are Flyers fan. They were really glad in April that we had NOTHING on our back end.
@KingOfNoPants At least they were better than nothing - which we are having now.
And - yes, many of them are really good players (see: Kuba, Penner, Parenteau)
To me, the main problem is that while he was waiting for decisions of Parise and Suter (while neither, especially Suter, looked anywhere near imminent), he lost time and opportunity to sign some other good players for wing and D. It's not true to say that Parise deal was the first domino to fall. Between 1st and 4th July Parenteau, Allen, Penner, Souray, Witney, Corvo, Kuba, to name a few, signed with other teams.
You say, Shero will fix the holes? By what means, may I ask you? There are practically no UFA good wingers left in the market, Semin is one lazy inconsistent moody undisciplined piece of manure, and Doan will stay with Phoenix; and there no more top-4 shutdown d -men left. Trade? We don't have assets valuable enough for a trade, and no team will trade a good top-4, top-6 player for Martin or Kennedy. So, where from?
@SaintMarty @Jasp That was, like, a lifetime ago. And ever since - all we see is a couple of good (lucky?) moves, and a trainload of misses.
2 years, 3 months ago on The Pens still have plenty of options | July2012
@SaintMarty @Jasp That was like ages ago. After that all we see is a couple of real good (lucky?) moves, and a trainload of misses.
@orby @Jasp Well the Philly series has shown that having Sid, Geno, Neal and Niskanen is not enough to win a playoff series. Now we are even weaker than two months ago, without Staal, Asham and Sullivan, and no upgrade on the D which is our weakest area beyond doubt. Where does your optimism (or should I say faith?) lie?
Well by the looks of things in April 2012 they didn't care very much about your belief in them.
@Jasp No I'm nervously laughing at those boneheads who still believe that Shero is a capable GM.
@alphelps Really? And many options left on free agency?
I don't consider big trade at all, cause we don't have tradeable assets. Martin is worth next to nothing.
@BGW I think throwing RS off it is a much better option in the long run.
You can join him if you are his personal fan.
A great day for a great general manager. No Parise, no Suter. No Sullivan. No nothing. Great job in strengthening the squad in order to correct the mistakes of the past three years.
Now we boldly head into the next season, led by our best off-season acquisitions: Tanner Glass, Dylan Reese and Derrick Pouliot, with stellar Paul Martin as a backbone of our defense, and still coached by the best Head Coach of the league – matchless Dan “Disco” Bylsma.
This is the way great franchises go to winning great prizes.
Great job Shero! Way to go!
