Chill out people! You can tell that K-mart was oblivious to most stuff thats going on. The offense wasn't flowing. Clearly these guys need time to gel. I'm fine with us losing on the road to Spurs, who Pop claimed to have the best preseason in 17 years of coaching, for the time being.

I'm hoping we get the 4/5th pick from Toronto and get a big next year. And Lamb pans out to border line all-star shooter! If at least this does not come true, Harden leaving is truly a nasty blow for us. :(

If what you said would be the case from now on. I don't like the idea. Because that means we become a farm for other team to cherry pick. We develop our own player and we should be able to reap what we sow!

I like what I'm seeing from lamb looking at his college highlights game posted on this thread in RealGM http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1197768&start=105#p33091735

He is very long. Smooth. Covers lots of grounds. And his footwork is impressive! And he has a good handle and a quick release (very high too because of his length)! He may not have the same impact in terms of playmaking ability with Harden. But, I think in the long run we can expect great production from him.

I asked the question in the first place because I also think what neo12 pointed out was the case. From Presti's press conference, you can vaguely sense that the luxury tax wasn't the main reason Harden was traded. If this was true, Presti and FO's decision is awfully harsh and brash, bordering irrational. I can't say I'm not disappointed as a fan.

Can someone explain to me why we can't sign Harden to max now and trade him next year instead? This way, we still have a year window with the "fearsome foursome" to ensure our chances of competing for the ring? I'm confident we would still have significant leverage for a good trade package if the situation pans out in such manner. Do you guys think the reason the trade happen swayed more towards Harden's unwillingness to look out for the team's best interest or purely on the financial implication Harden's contract would create?

I don't know what to make of this. Goodbye the bearded one! Will sorely miss you. But we have an immediate, albeit not as marketable, substitute for Harden in K-mart. We got a nice prospect going forward in Lamb, nbadraft.net projected ceiling for him is Reggie Miller (probably not going to reach that but who knows, we've been maximizing the potential of our players) and 2 1st round picks and charlotte's 2nd round pick. Hopefully we can turn that Toronto pick into Isaiah Austin next year. But we definitely stepped back this year. I think we still make it to the Finals, but I don't know if we could win it with an improved Miami.

If no.2 is the case, wouldn't other teams offer Harden a poison pill contract (or you can't make a max a poison pill contract?), where it'll make it more complicated for Thunder to match up? If he doesn't sign before Oct. 31 I see Harden walking away.

1 year, 11 months ago on Seriously though, why would the Thunder not keep Harden?

@ElMexiThunder you should try Paseo in Fremont. http://www.paseoseattle.com/ They serve about 100 sandwiches per hour. Consistently full. One of the best sandwiches in the US.

@DennisBerry  @thelaughingwiseman If we're going to have 3 centers going forward, I don't mind us going after Oden. It wouldn't impact us much if he became one of our back up centers. Maybe our medical team will be better than Portland, seeing that our 4 best players has been healthy whole year long. And if he's healthy I'm sure he'll impact the game more than Perkins and Cole. Is Presti even looking at this possibility? What concerns me might be that Oden would be too proud being fringe players or 5th person if he will be healthy, when he is drafted above Durant.

@RemmyNguyen We signed Orton and with him we have a 16 man team? So one person is going to be cut. So why not audition with more people? And get the best person out of the pack?

Since Oden is a free agent and speaks about playing this year? Can Presti go after him? Since we're also auditioning for centers to play behind Perkins?

@Jooseppi Ah you're right. I was over excited. But they're just 4 mil outside the luxury tax. Within our case, if our players were willing to take a bit less.... would it work?

http://www.netsdaily.com/2012/7/2/3131846/detailed-math-for-getting-joe-johnson-dwight-howard-while-retaining Don't kill me with this because some of the rules of NBA and the new CBA is over my head. But if there is a possibility of the nets acquiring Joe Johnson and Dwight Howard and retaining Gerald Wallace and Deron Williams. All this whil staying under the cap and playing three players way above 17 million (granted that their bench would be nihil). We should be able to find a way to retain our cores and our bench if Harden is willing to go south of eight digit salary and Ibaka were willing to go under 10 mil. What do you guys think?
