@Haloruler64 STOCK ANDROID??? WHAAAAT??? I might have to get THREE of these then! One to carry around in the car with me, one for my sister and one to seduce my poor, misguided, Apple loving wife! ☺
As a gift to a non power user, yes. I'm interested.
So..... HTC FINALLY comes with another TRUE SUPERPHONE and its going to Verizon, of all places.... HTC, are you even TRYING to stay afloat? I can imagine that there's a strong possibility that releasing a noteworthy device on such a large carrier might generate some significant sales, but I don't really think this is where the gadget geeks and phone nerds that make devices legendary are hangin' out. I dunno... I could be very wrong. Wouldn't be the first time and won't be the last.
The TRULY sad part is that lots of SONY wh-- fans are going to buy into this. I know a few of them. It seems that they'll forego having the best device they can get for their money just to see that SONY logo on another device around the house. Logic to the wind. Its about adding another SONY branded device to the collection.
I said it once, I'll say it again. Stupid as BEAN-DUST!!!
As I peruse all the replies, I'm reminded why I like Android so much. Even now devices are being manufactured with screens in the 3.5" range all the way up to more than 5"! There are unfortunate side effects of such handset proliferation but, in contrast, there's a rich developer community picking up where OEMs either decide to or have to drop off. The depth, breadth and dynamism of the Android community, as a whole, simply cannot be matched! I love being a part of it.
I've got really long fingers and really poor vision so I can always appreciate a device that my fingers don't wrap completely around and a screen that doesn't force me to reach for my glasses or contacts. My last phone was 4.3" and was okay, but not ideal. I've been handling the GS3 and E4GLTE a lot over the past few weeks in preparation for my upgrade. Both are quite nice in the screen size area so, for myself, 4.7 to 5 inches is the ideal. At 5" we'd need to be talking about something with the fabled "no bezel" so the device doesn't feel peculiar in hand. Anything beyond five inches, you might as well consider a tablet, in my opinion. Not that there's anything wrong with a phone of greater than 5", but I don't like the term phablet. Call it one or the other.
A lot of people seem to want to see a Motorola Nexus phone. My understanding is that Motorola builds good quality hardware. I'd love to give them a try if they can not include any bumps, protrusions, sharp pointy corners or other Moto-weirdness.
This so called war has been ridiculous from the start bit the court not having Samsung due process is just a damned shame.
As of ICS and especially Jellybean, I've been hungry for the "vanilla" Android experience, but as long as it requires one of SAMSUNG' S chintzy feeling, plasticky devices, I'll continue to tolerate a custom UI or keep hoping for a custom ROM for a more tolerable device.
HTC.
Jellybean appears to be almost everything I've hoped for from Android so, yes its very exciting news, but I'm getting rid of my GS2 and returning to an HTC device on August 1, so...
I'd love to say something positive and constructive about this development but fate and frustration have brought me to a place from which I simply cannot. I'm so frustrated with Sprint and HTC right now that I'd like to drop them both but this is real life and Sprint has the plan that works for me right now and HTC has the phone whose build quality, physical attributes and software features suit my needs, so come August 1st, I'll be trading in the GS2 EPIC 4G TOUCH ( already officially ICS enabled ) that replaced my EVO 3D, moving on to the next HTC flagship and looking forward to a protracted and infuriating wait for even the most incremental of updates.... again.... Congrats to my brethren who will be enjoying this grotesquely overdue update. At least it will arrive before Sprint's current HTC flagship is two versions ahead of you.
Sure. I'd use a magnetic cover. I like to keep my high tech... stuff... in good condition so I always protect it. it would be convenient to have a cover that serves at least two useful purposes.
I'm going to an EVO 4G LTE next month. it will NEED Jelly-bean. I hate to break warranty, but for this experience, I will. I hope a Jelly-bean ROM becomes available for it soon. God knows I'll be a grandfather by the time it happens, if I wait on HTC to do anything.
STOP THAT! You're getting me all worked up about it! LOL. It's just a tablet! I shouldn't be so excited and anxious. I know that better devices will come... ...but, for now, I think this is the one.
@Brooks Barnard - Truly...
I'm not into white devices. I'd almost swear that I got a case of Irritable Bowel Syndrome when I had to buy my wife a white iPhone 4S... Ughh!!!
@Brooks Barnard - It'll be my first tablet too.
@Brooks Barnard - Not at all, sir. Thank YOU for reporting and making this tablet that much more compelling.
