@Lusinmader But I was not on the streets so I never heard that nickname. If it existed back then, then I apologize.
I'm sure though that the Candy Cane and Cherry nicknames did not exist back then.

@TheSneakerHead Yes your right late 1997 for 97-98 season. I bought all original XIIs, XIIs, & XIVs....just this 'candy cane' 14, 'cherry' 12 kind of crap is driving me nuts...
@TheSneakerHead Your right I should have just said nicknames, not new nicknames...or maybe modern nicknames would be better...everything does not have to have a nickname. In 1998 they were the Air Jordan XIII "Home" when I went to the store to walk in and purchase, no problem ...before countdown packs, retros and new nicknames.

Griffin is one dimensional and does not deserve a sig...YET..let him develop his game some more...then I'll buy he deserves one...just sort of a phenomenon of strength right now...need more complete player.
