Ever consider perhaps Nash is trying to do too much? Not often a line mate carries puck in to feed Nash in the slot, is it. He carries it himself and ends up double teamed Not much going well on a poorly constructed team so it must al be Nash's fault. I know he hasn't carried the team on his own but let's be realistic. I'm betting he makes Team Canada and puts up points with higher skilled line mates.

Kevin was guessing possibly blister from him testing out new skates.  That's what I was responding to.

I'm obviously a Lundqvist fan and you can call me biased, but there's no way he's sitting out of practices due to a blister.  No way.   Hopefully it is just minor.  Although he's struggled, he'll get back on track.  Without him this already struggling team doesn't stand a chance.  The last 9 years make that very clear.

Sorry but Dorsett is an almost total liability.  He's like Rinaldo, but even like effective in that role.  I'm not wild on having a guy who top 2 in league in PIM.  Cannot help your team if you are always in the box.  Dorsett would be a good player if he could learn to push the edge but not always go over it.  Should have absolutely been waived.  He certainly has no place in the line up against the Caps.  Rangers put the Caps on the PP, they stand no chance and then will be embarrassed in an over-hyped NBC national game.  They must win Wed game to gain some confidence and good morale.  Don't usually have MUST WINS this early in season, but Wed sure is.  And Rangers have to do it without Nash.  Sigh.

I think the most disconcerting thing was learning this weekend that Brad is attempting to obtain membership at an exclusive golf club in the area.  So, either he plans on being in NY for a while, or he is ok with flying back for sporadic outings.

Last I read somewhere it's projected to go to 70 million and up to as much as 80 in 3 years. But Hank is due his king's ransom and we will have key UFAs coming due next year, and still need to address flaws. The cap may be a probably for foreseeable future.

@TonySofio Dolan / MSG / Cablevision empire doesn't care all that much.  Rangers are extremely small piece of their revenue pie.  The tales of the inner-organizational issues are legion.  I trust Gordie most, but not sure how he will even fare once he gets the reigns unless there are shifts at an organizational level.

Sad (and rattling_ to hear Hank talk about NY in the past tense.  He will have many of us nervous for  a while, but my guess and hope is that it's just the beginning of posturing and opening negotiations.  But on the other hand, I don't blame him one bit if he doesn't extend this summer.  He's been made a lot of organizational promises over the years and that shit gets old.  That said, he has always seemed like he wants to be a life long Ranger (and he loves living in NYC) and let's face it he is still feeling the fresh wound of a season over too soon.  He's not stupid though, you hear him in prior interviews in the Boston round.  Kind of seemed like he knew Rangers would be out but he wanted to at least not be swept out.

As for Mac, same thing, good for him on the hard ball negotiations.  He is more crucial now than ever.  Staal will never be the same.  Love him dearly, don't get me wrong, but when your vision and depth perception will never be 100%, got to think he cannot return to his stellar form.  He may still come back and be better than many other D, but not like he was playing earlier this year pre-injury.

Man, Step needs to take a course in negotiations 101.  Major year, will be the top Center and he opens with I want to end my career as a Ranger??  We can always say that's admirable and it's not all about the money, but they play for a relatively short period and need to capitalize on the years they have.  Will be interesting to see how the RFAs shake out.

I kind of fear next year will bring more of the same mixed bag as this season.  Lots of new faces, many pieces did not work out this year, will be more young guys coming up.  They will need some magic on their side to get to the Cup next year.  But we Rangers fans are used to hoping against hope!

Agree Torts will not be fired this year, but we've soon seen the last of Richie in a NYR uniform.  He WILL be bought out this year.  Despite slight edge on financials to wait a year, NYR could use cap space in the market this year, can afford to take the $6mil hit for waiting to buyout next year, without risk that Richie gets injured and then they're screwed on buyout.  Inside word in NYR org is that Torts' bromance with Richie over.  Buyout consideration has already commenced.

@kerrycherone Second to that.  Love this blog!  And like Kevin, I was lukewarm to Biron getting the start today.  After that weak goal, I was muttering, too, though not in French like Biron, apparently.  So happy for Marty and the team that he turned that around and stood tall the rest of the game.

Not having Kreider in seems like a mistake. Just let the kid play, stop scaring the crap out of him and maybe he'll score some goals. They are mismanaging that poor kid at a time when the team desperately needs some offense. I know we don't want him to be a def liability but last game he's out there hitting and checking, but I didn't see him shoot.

OK, so I'm just catching the outrage train now.  My pretty little self has been at work all day chairing the trademarks dept at a major law firm.  Whoa, what, women can be law firm partners?!  I digress.  I should be griping about how I can out match any man I know, including my husband, about anything Rangers, indeed, anything hockey.  I can even manage to recall stats, but wait, girls can't do math!  And to think I'm raising my kids (my son AND my daughter) "the right way" by taking them to Rangers games and teaching them the fantastic sport of hockey.  I wouldn't give a crap if this were in Cosmo and I get it that the Rangers organization didn't author this piece, but what a major miscue to publish it on their site.  Hey, Dolan, last I knew, there was no salary cap on your website staff.  Get someone with better judgment.

Hey Kevin!  Thanks for posting my daughter's picture.  She also snagged moments with Torts, Hags, Boyle and MDZ.  She'll think it's so cool that she's up on the NYR blog.  She might be small, but let me assure you, she can make a LOT of noise and is very  enthusiastic in cheering on the Rangers (and she does a mean Maaaaaaaaaaarty chant).  She was bummed that we couldn't find Cally, her fave.  My son was bummed that we couldn't get Hank to sign his jersey.  We got right up to him, next in line, when ABC swept him away for an interview and he was ghost after that.  Overall, fun day.  Torts was so cheerful, I thought I was in a parallel universe, until he finally let out two small curses in his Q&A.

@TheWrage  @KevinDeLury  Totally agree.  Ask me about  something I had just lost 15 mins after it happened and it would be hard to control my bitter attitude at that moment, too.  You can give extra props to coaching who are less "emotional." I suppose, but I think people make way too much of Torts' demeanor is post-game pressers.
