@propsizzle @thelaughingwiseman 100%agreed - that´s why maybe we need to sell him on a high and capitalize. Perk has been somewhat disappointing and Gortat does not have the injury record, and is more mobile, which would be helpful against the Heat if we were to meet again. maybe that´d be a good way to cash on JH and improve our presence in the middle. I´d do that deal.

as much as I love James Harden, I´m not sure if keeping him to an average of 12MM per year is the best decision for this team going forward. we´d have upwards of 50MM guaranteed to four players, leaving the Thunder in a very tough tax situation and with little to no roster flexibility.
that being said, I´ve read up on some Phoenix Suns interest on Harden. thought about a possible deal which would keep us competitive and put us in a more flexible cap situation. so just wanted to check my sanity: would anyone do Harden + Perk + filler (D. Cook, Hayward) for Gortat, J. Dudley and a few picks?
Gortat over Perk is an upgrade, hands down. check all of their stats in the past 3 years. Gortat is a big body to clog the lane and free up Ibaka to roam and block shots. Dudley could be an interesting swingman off the bench to spell KD and Thabo. he can shoot 3s and play D, on a reasonable deal. and there is still room to get a backup SG in the Jamal Crawford / Jason Terry mold to provide bench scoring, if Reggie Jax can´t live up to that role.
@Prye05 Agreed. But I´d feel confident in selling Dwight on OKC. A core of KD, DH and Harden, plus Ibaka at a reasonable price, could be more of a dynasty than the current core with Russ. RW is an alpha dog to me, and he´ll want his own team soon enough...

Guys, what package do you think could make the Thunder land Dwight Howard? Like with the Chris Paul trade, any time you have a chance of landing the top 1-2 player in his position, you have to consider it.
I would even include Westbrook in a DH trade, as All-NBA centers are a rare commodity. Maybe Russ + Perk + draft picks + a prospect (Reggie Jackson, Tibor Pleiss) could entice Orlando.
A lineup of Maynor-Harden-Durant-Ibaka-Howard would be a force to be reckoned with... we sign a scorer to come off the bench (Jason Terry / Jamal Crawford mold) and it´s the team to beat.
