@dmacpgh @emanatee @YorkPens 4 points out of 1st place in the entire eastern conference with two games in hand on Tampa. 3 point out of the Met lead behind the islanders who have not been exactly lighting things up now. I would take my chances with Geno and Comeau coming back soon against anyone else in the east. We all know guys Adams, Sell, Ebbett and probably Acobella are all going to be sitting when the full team comes back.

@dmacpgh @Ungaba yea Crosby did such a bad job leading Canada to two Olympic Gold Medals. Scoring the Overtime game winner in 2000 too.

@dmacpgh @Original_Super_Genius Thus will be the last year where the Hawks have the lead for the Stanley Cup. With kane and teows taking up close to 3 mil more than Crosby and Malkin.

Look for the Hawks playing the likes of a Ebbets, Adams Sill next year on their team.

Also, the Hawks have so many more players tied up in deals on players that are in their early to mid 30s, Hossa 36, Sharp 33, Keith 31, Oduya 33, Roszigval 36, Richards 34 and Crawford 30. And I thought the Pens had some old dead weight older players. At least are old players only have a 1 or 2 yrs left before their contracts end.

Let Chicago pay his expensive long term deal while he approaches his late 30s. With their top two stars getting huge contract extensions next year, they will be in salary cap hell.

Saw at least a half dozen non-calls against the Rags not called. Seems to be the same every game. Hard to believe strong offensive players like Malkin & Crosby don't receive penalty calls every game.

Compare power play advantages between other strong offensive teams likes the Black Hawks & Islanders and I'm sure they are averaging more than 1 or 2 PP's a game. The Rangers are not an offensive power, received 7 PP's their last game and received 4 more tonight. Seems like the Refs have something against the Pens.

Pens continue to beat down the Ducks. So much for the big bad western conference that we always hear about. Gibson did not look good. I thought Mr. Haagen Dazs was going to pull him at 3 - 0 and to think he only gave up four goals in his three games played last Spring. It's always a great night when the Pens win and the Caps, Flyers & Bruins all lose.

Team is better built for the playoffs this year. If they can trade Martin and get another top six forward, that would be great.

There will be a lot more folks outside the Pittsburgh Market signing up for DK's service. If you live in the Burgh, you get all the coverage you want. But, everywhere else across the country, transplanted yinzers will live for better and more coverage on the Pittsburgh teams.

I thought NY offered more too. Without this terrible trade, the Pens would not have stunk for several years, thus getting the top overall picks in Fluery, Crosby, Malkin and Staal. Similar to what Washington did to get their Stars (Ovechkin, Semin, Valamov, Backstrom, Green, etc..) and Black Hawks (Toews, Kane, Seabrook).

What I don't understand in how the Oilers, Islanders and Panthers get top picks almost every year and still stink most years.

5'11" is not that big. I know Neal had the concussion issues, but  I would have liked to have him stay. We need a young player who will go to the net and mix it up. I hope Megna can be that player.

The early 80s Pens teams were a lot worse than the early 2000 teams that gave the Pens the high draft picks (Orpik, Fluery, Malkin, Crosy, Staal). Mario still played with some bad teams up until the late 80s. Can you imagine the point totals he would have put up if he did not have such bad Pens teams in the 80s, did not have cancer and did not have the bad back. The most dominating big player in the history of the NHL. Imagine a bigger Geno that played all aspects of the game. His reach, size, speed, shot and play making were not matched.

Niskanen is a 2nd line pairing on defense on a team loaded with young defensive talent. He does not play heavy minutes, does not clear the crease or play many penalty minutes. Plus, he slumped badly in the last two playoffs. Do you really want to give this man $5 mil/yr? Let him leave and bring up the young guys. Let some other sucker sign him for 5 years at 5 mil/yr.

I would consider trading Crosby to a Canadian team, if I could have five #1 picks, their top two young offensive players and another gritty 3rd/4th line player. The thing is, every Canadian team would sign up for that deal. However, you can't trade the best player in the league. You need to build around them and add the missing pieces.

Very strange. Why hold on to Bylsma, unless there's something in the works for a certain other coach. If it is Babcock, he would have to get big stack in Pens personal decisions. Maybe the Wings want something in return, since he's still under contract for another year. Or are the Pens are just blocking Bylsma from going to the Caps. Something going on behind the scenes.

@aberman  Chicago will not be the same when they have to pay their two star free agents Towes and Kane 10+ mil/yr. Like the Pens, they have too many other players locked in with long term deals. With two cups and working on their 3rd, Towes and Kane should get 10+ mil/yr each. Winning the cup means more than scoring titles.

The difference being that Scuderi is much older than Martin was four years ago. There is little chance that Scuderi gets any better. He may get worse.  Same goes with Orpik. He's just to old and slow at this point in his career. Although, I would rather have Orpik than Scuderi. But, now we have to live three more years with that bad signing.

I would take that bet. A team that basically gets lucky and wins two overtime games cannot hope to lucky every game. The PEns won all five games during the season with only a few second of them playing from behind. The odds are that the Pens come back and win.

Pens stay the course. Even without Crosby, Kunitz or Malkin scoring goals, Pens still can beat a young Blue Jacket team. This looks so much like the Pens Sens series (Crosby & Malkin's 1st playoff series) wher the Pens managed to win one game. Pens sweep the next two games. This series is over. Bring on the Rangers.
