Three blatant no penalty calls on Sid. The first being when sit is slashed on the hand, never showed on the telecast, but shown on the NHL channel. Crosby goes to the bench and gets his wrist shot with that freeze spray. Second no-call when Sid scores his second goal and gets tackled from behind with no penalty call. The last being when Sid gets targeted to the head on the interference no call.

Good way to promote the garage league NHL. Let the star players take abuse an make no calls. Unless your the Rangers who get some of the weakest penalties calls I have ever seen in this series.

The way I figure, the law of averages mean the pens get the next 12 of 15 penalties go against the Rangers. I only wish with the officiating today.

@LP66 I imagine the Pens have had at least twice as many penalty calls against them this year, compared to their competition. I would also say that 75% of their games they have had more calls against. You would think the law averages would give them at least one game where they get more calls on the other team. Last nights 5 to 1 calls against is typical for the ref bias this year.

Watching the Nashville/Chicago games. Announcers say Webber has left the bench for a few minutes and that it would be a total disaster if he does not play the rest of the game.

Just imagine if your team's top three defensemen (basically, four of your top six defensemen ) are all out with injuries and you have to rely on two new minor league call-ups and Rob Skuderi. Puts everything in perspective.

From years past, like last year against the Rangers, I thought the Refs swallowed the whistle and did not call penalties in the playoffs. Of course, unless you are a Pittsburgh Penguins and more specifically Steve Downey. Way to even up the calls men in strips.

From the past two years we know one thing for sure, no penalties are called in the playoffs. Go after the Rangers stars with vengeance and retribution. What do the Pens have to lose. We have seen Crosby and Malkin attacked continually in past playoffs. Lets get that revenge.

@jimbo69 I would love to see the Bruins blow up their team. Rask looked like he just gave up tonight. He was overplayed during the year and it showed. Chara looks slower than Scuderi.  Their Coach is probably gone.

@ProfConfusion Pens are like unbeatable against TBL, over the past few years. Also, they stand up well against MON, both teams are smaller and not that physical. I would take our chances with NYI, but believe we have a slim chance with WAS or NYR. Also, we owe MON & TBL paybacks from the 7 game losses a few years back. Being an underdog has little pressure. I just hop they get Letang back for the playoffs.

@Who Really Cares That is the worst rule ever. So if Crosby, Malkin, Horny all go down next game, they have to play with 15 players. That is total BS. Especially, when so many teams, like the Flyers (Pronger) and Bruins (Savard)  that have injured players out for years on bad contracts and now clear salary space by having them out on injury. We know those teams don't want these players on the team anymore and they have the out to save cap space by paying them to sit out.

Can someone explain why the same linesman who got bloodied up and left yesterday's game started this game and left in the 1st few minutes. Couldn't they have called up another linesman before the game.

There were a few terrible off-side calls against the Pens, because of the missing linesman.

Noticed on the replay where Lateng hits the boards and the puck goes past the Coyote player at center ice. That like a full 4 seconds after he plays the puck How could that not be a late hit. Of course the refs do not call a penalty and there will be no suspension for a late hit. What a league that would allow such no calls. I hope Lateng sues the league some day and gets millions, but that does not helps the Pens in any way. If this league really cared about the players, the would call the penalties li on late hits.

My wish list and what I hope for in the remainder of the season:

Malkin and Horny get back in the line-up soon.

The Pens PP starts scoring goals with their full line-up.

The Pens beat up these weaker sub 500 team the remainder of the season and get some confidence heading into the playoffs.

Sid wins the scoring title.

The Sens get the wild card and the Bruins miss the playoffs.

A hot Sens take out a #1 seed in the playoffs.

Pens play the Isles in the 1st round, knowing that that they have to play hard against a good team.

Pens get their revenge against the Rangers, playing as the underdog with little pressure and nothing to lose. When was the last time the Pens were the underdog in the playoffs? Probably against the Bolts, when Malkin & Crosby were out.

Pens finally play the Hawks in a cup final. Everyone has been waiting for that Pens/Hawks final for several years.

@jovi0055 Most teams in the NHL play the boring slow tight checking game. This is the only sport that promotes cheating (holding, interference, stick fouls) to keep down scoring. Now I heard they want to go to 3 on 3 for overtime. I'm surprised they don't go 5 on 5 in overtime, if they still want to promote this boring no scoring action.

@Zhan So often, CFA fails to clear the puck out of the zone on the PK. All he has to do is lift the puck, but fails to clear the zone. Need to get Winnik in the lineup and he can use his size on the PK. Keep Bennett in the lineup and sit CFA.

Good thing Fatty Teddy has been restricting Pens Fans from the burgh from going to games in DC or most of the Verizon Center would be Pens fans. I used to go to Pens Caps games, prior to Leonsis shutting out the PA area codes from ordering tickets, and 2/3 of the stands were full of Pens fans. Also, remember when the Steelers play the Redskins and the majority of the crowd at Fedex are Steeler fans.

There are so many Pens fans in the VA, MD, DC area that Teddy knew he had to do more than just limit the PA area codes from ordering tickets. He started making the local VA, MD & DC Pens fans who wanted to attend only Pens games have to buy tickets to a number of other games too. In other words, if you live local to DC and wanted to order tickets to a Pen/Caps game, he made you order tickets to a other games too.

See you next time of the Steps. Go Pens.

Yep. Time to bring up the minor league goon to go after Ovie next game. Let the goon get his 4 game suspension for jumping Ovie from behind. With referee calls this year, it probably won't even call am instigator penalty. Would that really matter. Ovie has tried to take out a player in each of the last two games. Time for revenge.

Caps announcers did comment that after one pp the caps had 6 skaters on the ice for several seconds not noticed by the refs. They also said Ovie should have had a penalty for the two hand slash on the back of Letang's ankle. Those were obvious misses by the refs.

Once again, the Pens retaliate and don't initiate the rough play.

Look at the flex on ovie's stick after the two hand chop. Plus, did anyone catch the caps playing 20 seconds with too many men on the ice. The caps announcers, Homers as they are, even called it out.

The refs were terrible. I was hoping someone would take a two hand chop on the back of #8's ankle. It would be worth the 5 min penalty to see him go down. Of course, the refs would have provably missed that call too.

@Bing_87 I have not gone through the numbers, but I figure the Pens have only had the power play advantage in maybe 20% of the games this year. I understand the refs put away whistle, but the law of averages should have an elite offensive team like the Pens being called 50% for and 50% against.

Also, I notice the hawks like most teams, play their best players on PKs, something the Pens never have done in the Crosby Malkin era.

We all know guys Adams, Sell, Ebbett and probably Acobella are all going to be sitting when the full team comes back.

@dmacpgh @Original_Super_Genius Thus will be the last year where the Hawks have the lead for the Stanley Cup. With kane and teows taking up close to 3 mil more than Crosby and Malkin.

Look for the Hawks playing the likes of a Ebbets, Adams Sill next year on their team.

Also, the Hawks have so many more players tied up in deals on players that are in their early to mid 30s, Hossa 36, Sharp 33, Keith 31, Oduya 33, Roszigval 36, Richards 34 and Crawford 30. And I thought the Pens had some old dead weight older players. At least are old players only have a 1 or 2 yrs left before their contracts end.

Saw at least a half dozen non-calls against the Rags not called. Seems to be the same every game. Hard to believe strong offensive players like Malkin & Crosby don't receive penalty calls every game.

Compare power play advantages between other strong offensive teams likes the Black Hawks & Islanders and I'm sure they are averaging more than 1 or 2 PP's a game. The Rangers are not an offensive power, received 7 PP's their last game and received 4 more tonight. Seems like the Refs have something against the Pens.
