Nobody even wants to entertain that thought, huh? This is a long offseason, just trying to entertain.
And Perkins was a pretty good player before... he wasn't.
@d21 @Dubyaexwhizey @OohWeeItsVelvetHoop Perfect then!
@Lost Ones @Dubyaexwhizey Doesn't take much to be a Perkins replacement.
@d21 @Dubyaexwhizey @OohWeeItsVelvetHoop Isn't he 6'10"?
@d21 @Dubyaexwhizey Remember, it's a hypothetical.
@OBoy @Dubyaexwhizey Perfect running form.
@OohWeeItsVelvetHoop @Dubyaexwhizey Which could be argued for a lot of the prospects in the draft.
A hypothetical here... What if OKC already feels like they have their Perkins replacement in Orton already, which would mean that they wouldn't necessarily be searching for a big in this draft? Who would they draft, would they move up, move down? What's their move, keeping in mind they would have to find a way to sign Orton after next year, as well?
@soonerfan237 That would be incredible to get Antetokounmpo at 29.
@Jooseppi @FF_pickups @Lost Ones That's what it is... they don't have Liggins or Orton's extra year.
@Jooseppi @FF_pickups @Lost Ones Maybe mine doesn't have Liggins's. Did he get signed an extra year?
@Jooseppi@Dubyaexwhizey@FF_pickups@Lost OnesThis says they have $66,119,439 minus Perkins's $8,477,437 equals $57,642,002. One of our sources is wrong. http://hoopshype.com/salaries/oklahoma_city.htm
@Lost Ones It*
@Lost Ones I does... I don't know why people are saying it won't. It will at least put them a half mil under.
@Jooseppi@Dubyaexwhizey@FF_pickups@Lost OnesJust looked at it. Cap relies on league revenue, last year it was at $58.044. Without Perk on the they have 57,642,002 on the books. That's under, and next years cap should be a little bit bigger. Granted not 3 but still under.
@Jooseppi @Dubyaexwhizey @FF_pickups @Lost Ones What's the math then (I'm not including draft picks).
@FF_pickups @Lost Ones I might be really wrong but wouldn't amnestying Perk plus not signing Martin put them at about 3.something under the regular cap?
@cfountain @Dubyaexwhizey @mattchant I don't know. It makes sense financially and for the team. It's not that I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't amnesty him (they can justify it by saying that he plays better with Westbrook) but it is a better option than just sticking with Perkins. If they could guarantee they get West, it would be stupid not to. That's a big IF though.
@cfountain @Dubyaexwhizey @mattchant Owners make sooo much money from winning a championship. That's why they get into the game. If you could pay just 5.85 more and win a championship rather than coming short (of course, nothing is guaranteed, but they would have a much better chance with West than Perkins) then they would be willing to take that shot.
