@Rambler Have to ask how does llyasova help the spurs get past OKC? Can he defend durrant or westbrook? Then how does he help us beat miami? those are the short and long term problems right now. Kawhi is going to play massive minutes in the playoffs just like he did last yr. Pop likes to shorten the rotation come playoffs. A reason why Stephen Jackson is no longer with the spurs. So 3 is out of the question. Then you say he can have minutes at the 4 which means he cuts into diaw minutes. Spurs need a facilitator at the 4. Someone who moves the ball and plays good D. That is not IIyasova forte. I just dont see the upside in trading for him especially if we lose Diaw or Green in the process.
10 months ago on Spurs interested in Ilyasova or Sixers Young?
Not a fan of either trade scenario. Trading for a guy who will consume 8-9 million till 2016 is not the spurs way. Plus these guys would be backups at least this season and next season. Unless their name is Manu Spurs dont pay bench players 8-9 million. Its not wise especially when Tony Parkers contract is coming up and he will get $15-16 mil/per yr for at least 4 yrs. Plus better role guys are becoming free agents this summer: Luol Deng, Greg Monroe, Danny Granger, Ed Davis, Marcin Gortat. Not all these guys will get big $$. Its best to keep our options open.
Why on earth would the spurs pursue Turner. He is near the end of his rookie contract and has not shown much promise. George Hill showed more at this point in his career than Turner has. Green is a much more valuable asset because he can spread the floor and play D. Bringing in Turner who shoots below 30% from 3 and plays little D for a couple of months would be ridiculous.

@jhhein So building a team around an undersized PF who many shoots >10ft from the basket is a below avg defender, and is not a crunch time player, is someone you can build around? No chance, not while pop is alive.
@GuadalupeLopez You honestly believe that Denver would give up an all star on a min. salary for a couple of D-leaguers? C'mon man.
11 months, 1 week ago on Trade Market: Looking through the Spurs assets
@AaronGoldstein so you want to give up a very good perimeter defender in green and a scorer, facilitator, and defender in Diaw for a "me-first" guy who demands a trade from a winning team bc he want to play more. Spurs lose big if this would happen. Plus you would have a log jam at the center spot.
Batum is a "me" player with low class. This is the guy who in the Olympics hit a player from spain in the nuts and when asked about it not only did he admitted to it but showed no remorse when later asked about it. Not until he caught the backlash from it did he later apologize on twitter nonetheless.
Most players dont even know their stats during the game or with 9 seconds to go for that matter. Batum only cares about himself not about his team winning with some dignity.

Tiago and "go-to-player" player in the same sentence??? Ummm................Bahaha!!!!! If Pop ever calls out 5 down and Splitter is at center, the game will have to be canceled on the fact that TP died on the court laughing.

BurkartBrandon that dream sounds more like a nightmare. Stephen Jackson??? not at chance. It bodes better for the spurs to leave a spot open in case of a trade, buyout, or waiver.

Would of felt better if he said "it hurts" after going through a workout that involved dribbling the ball. He would be a much more effective offensive player if he knew how to dribble the ball.

@russman38 All Star status is based upon fan voting and meaningless to players. Kawhi will be a HOF when it is all said and done. Few have this guys determination to be great.

I cannot help but think of robert horry when I see this guy play. Granted Horry is light yrs defensively ahead of Thomas but his offensive game reminds me of horry during the Houston years. Probably the most under rated part of thomas's game is his ability to allow the game to come to him. He is not looking to take over but play within the team concept. fitting for pop's system.

So does mark madsen. Spurs not short of rings. Ariza does not fit Spurs need.
Not sure I believe Woj assessment that Spurs not moved by choices. The Wiz do own a high draft pick every yr and have no shot of ending that streak. With the draft loaded next yr would love to see a deal involving spurs getting a Wiz draft pick(s) and maybe move De Colo to make room for Deshaun Thomas.
@nish21 This guy will make the Spurs better. Imagine a PG who is a drives as well as parker but a better passer than tony parker with the same creativity and vision as manu. I can see the spurs moving manu to the starting lineup and bringing De colo off the bench to play with Splitter. This guy will contribute.

Great to hear he is coming next yr. If you have not had a chance to see this kid, youtube him. If you recall when Manu joined the Spurs and was making Pop's blood pressure go through the roof with every insane pass, wait to you see De Colo this kid will give Pop a stroke. That kid's game is entertaining.
@Emicris @spursfan80 Camby would a great addition.
2 years, 5 months ago on Rumors: Spurs interested in Josh Howard again? Green 'perfect fit' for Jazz? | June
@nish21 @Joey Agree pop said they overachieved, but you have to overachieve to win a championship. Look how Dirk overachieved last yr. Lebron this yr. because the spurs overachieved does not mean lets break up the band and rebuild. A few added pieces and some luck and we get another opportunity to compete for a title. And just a added note not all teams are getting better through draft and free agency. A lot of dumb $ being thrown around lately.
@WOW @Joey So you think Pop started Diaw because he was a good passer. You obviously watch only highlight spurs games. Diaw is an above avg defender. Pop, Duncan, and Tony said so in interview. The announcers of games pointed that out several times in games. You don't crack a Popovich starting lineup unless you can play 1 on 1 defense i.e. kawhi.
@Joey Blair started for most of the season on a 50 win 66 game regular season. Bonner contributed also to getting the 2nd best record in the league. Agree neither contributed much but if we faced Denver and/or Mavs in the playoffs Blair would have contributed significantly. Also without Blair we would have had a very tired Duncan come playoffs.
@Joey Hibbert got a max offer from Portland. No way we could afford a contract like that. I'm in favor of trying to keep the same team that was 2 wins away from the finals.
It's simple. Josh Howard plays with a whole lot of nasty. It's obvious when he plays he wants to defeat you physically and mentally. He has some Mario Elie in him. This season the spurs had to call up D. Green's old college coach to talk to him and get his head right. D. Green has a lot of potential but Howard would make the Spurs a better team right now.

@XMisnumero1 Curious to hear your thoughts on his mental toughness. Its well know physically he is strong, but Pop wants a PG that attacks! attacks! attacks! i.e. tony parker and the PG has to be able to penetrate-take a hit-and make the shot or make the assits and do it all game long. Not too many PGs (or players for that matter) are mentally able to do that. I have not seen him as much as you have but the times I have I walked away certain that the fall away jumper he shoots in the paint will not cut it in the NBA. He will need to learn the tear drop shot.

@JefferyBChavez @rtesoro440 @Tjaramil Which Green are you talking about Dannie or Danny?
@rtesoro440 and if you see $0 it does not mean he is playing for no money " for the the good of the team".
2 years, 6 months ago on Report: Spurs worked out Xavier's Holloway | June
K@rtesoro440 ok genius please amuse me for a second and answer me this. Since in your mind Green is a spur, how much does he contract say the spurs pay him next season?
@rtesoro440 @Tjaramil Let me explain the stupidity in your argument. You want to trade S. Jackson to the raptors for the #8th pick and compensation, because in your mind he is a veteran leader who can guard, pass and rebound. A 34 yr old guy who averaged 2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in the playoffs and who has publicly aired his differences with every team he has played with. Oh and this is the type of guy who would be open to revolutionizing the NBA by being the first to restruct his contract for as you put it "the good of the team". Ridiculous! Then you want to undercut spur draft pick salaries even though the new CBA clear states what their salaries should be so that you can sign Humphries? Ridiculous! Then you want to trade a current free agent who is not a spur to the Celtics for draft picks and compensation. Ridiculous! Then you want to sign Anderson who played less than 4 min a game in the playoffs because he is a future trading chip. Ridiculous! Please for the good of mankind and every real NBA fan SHUT THE F' UP!
@rtesoro440 @ljharris They were 2 games from the finals and you think they need to rebuild. Your moronic.
Every yr ridiculous trades and acquisitions are suggested. It's sad that there are not more intelligent NBA fans out there.
