Very touchy, but a common theme during CMR's era. Before I met CMR, I thought he was too soft to discipline players that were HS superstars. Personally I have never been one to promote or embrace evangelism, especially in a public school funded with sectarian tax dollars. However, CMR is a truly good human being with a charisma that fits the true definition of what I believe a true Christian is. He does not preach with words of fear or guilt, rather he listens with empathy and preaches through his behaviors and reasoned responses. I know he discusses his faith with parents but I am certain it is the parents that show their concern first. So, no issue for me at all.

@007dawg=Bro.Chette "ble$$ing" recruits at the Barn Opposing teams count on JJ learning the snap count and then use fake snap counts in dire situations to draw him off sides. Same thing happened to Clowney against us when he watched AM tap DA each time to hike the ball.

And FYI, I am being more objective in these statements, which by no means suggest I no longer bleed R&B, believe in any UGA coach's potential, or look poorly on our players. However, the ADept. has some major policy issues that do not align with the rest of the conference that must be addressed or we will forever be stuck in mid-tier status without miracles.

My biggest frustration is not knowing with 100% certainty the purpose behind the harsher suspension policies coupled with the lack of scholly players. At first I believed CMR was cleaning out his closet by getting rid of bad apples and trying to build the program from a base of skilled athletes who played for UGA not personal gains. The recruiting last year and this year supports this thesis because the 2012 class was smaller (stopped recruiting bad apples but not enough time to recruit the new focus on good apples) plus this class is huge but the focus is not as much on star players. It is Peterson's tactic at Boise except with us being able to pull more skilled athletes that are just as coachable and passionate. However, with 20%+ less scholly athletes in our conference, it makes zero sense to punish our team further than it already is through a self-inflicted recruiting "probation." Indeed, by suspending so many players CMR also punishes those who behaved perfectly. Definitely not the kind of forgiveness MY personal savior taught!

If the ADept. wants to make UGA into a false parochial school than it should rethink whether it wants to win in the SEC and whether it wants fans like me switch to LSU or Mich St. I have never been treated so hospitably by other team fans, even UGA, as I was in Baton Rouge in 08. We clobbered em yet I saw almost no real disrespect of the UGA fanbase and saw LSU fans even stick up for a UGA fan pushed by an LSU fan. Unfortunately, the exact opposite behavior occurs on UGA campus (rat snake thrown in a friendly LSU fan's tent in '04, UT fan spit on when ordering a beer in '10, UGA fans booing our PLAYERS at the GAME consistently, fans talking up opponents DURING the game we are losing, etc., etc.). So, how can Les (a mid-westerner) keep most of his in-state stars, win consistently with no QB and keep a rabid fan base in check? Maybe the ADept. should rethink its policies and try to mirror a program that beats us in nearly every way both morally and on the field (LSU).

@GirdersRBending The PA system is something I have not read yet and I was not there (fortunately). I think 85k fans in a packed stadium with Gameday on campus is enough to disrupt the game and force the PA system to be louder to overcome the noise. Plus, this is the biggest game they have played in a very long while because the fans all seem to finally believe that their program is not only relevant, but NC contenders. They knew this game was big and with all the media attention it was ripe for deafening noise a la LSU '04, Awbarn blackout.

As far as passion @RedandBlackDawg , CTG has definitely toned it down a good bit this year. Not sure why, but my gut tells me it is either CMR or his physician (stress on heart). CMR is far more passionate and cusses (horse s**t, a**, etc.) since he handed over the reigns to Bobo. I did notice in one video during offensive practice Bobo forced kids to listen to Zac Brown against protests because "he is a Georgia boy." How can you possibly get fired up listening to ZBB??? I love the guy but definitely not the type of music to listen to when you need to be energetic and angry. EDM/Dubstep remixes of rap/pop songs is played in every single bar in Athens now, so why not play what the kids like to listen to? Especially since the music is very high energy and can make a young man feel like a stud.

@Bulldawg Bob2  I see that, just takes a few loud ones to make it seem that way. I remember when I was a senior back in '04, there was a guy in the back of the student section (who I could hear from the middle) constantly booing our team. Worst memory during a game for me, unfortunately it was a UGA "fan"

Man, I knew y'all would be barking, but I didn't think the dawgs would turn on their pack so quickly! This thread is just too uscJR focused! Quit griping about our Dawgs and praising the Old Balls Coach! He has far more scholly players, rabid fans in the stadium and a DL that was recruited for his defensive scheme. We have less non-walk on scholly players than uscSR, a half-and-half DL and the growing pains of our OL are painfully revealed. However, we got rid of the self-righteous and, I believe, we are more focused on recruiting coachable adults who want to play for the team's glory not selfish fame. We are becoming a high level Boise, so we need to stand as a nation by our grown men who bleed more red&black than any of our recent 85-scholly teams.

The laws are set up to ensure enough charges can be stacked so that the cost and risk of losing on one count in trial of sis outweighed by the benefit of simply plea bargaining. Gun laws are horribly unclear in the GA Code, so it depends more on court precedent in the area. Unfortunately, Athens is much less forgiving than, say, Barrow.

Wow! Sounds absolutely delicious. I think I would eat so much I would have no hangover and never get to that obnoxious drunken state no matter how much Bourbon... I recently added a twist to my pork rub that I plan on grilling this weekend. Take 1" thick pork cutlets, rub some Fig vinegrette (fig is key as fig complements the pork and other ingredients), then wait a few minutes, flip over and rub more vinegar on the bare side. The vinegar tenderizes the meat allowing the rub mix to sink into the meat. My mix is about 1/3-1/2 brown sugar with the remainder a small amount of olive oil and fig vinegar plus the following: red pepper flakes/seeds, fine cut Italian herbs (oregano, thyme, rosemary, sage), cayenne pepper ground, sea salt fine, dry chopped onion bits (sweet/vidalia), garlic powder, chili powder. Rub the mix into the pork. I grill on med heat 3 mins each side, then criss cross 6 shallow cuts, place on low heat, spread rub on top after cooking a side for a few mins. The slow cooking and constant rub retains moisture and avoids crusting.

@Socrates believes in the Marshall Plan @IveyLeaguer @Junkyardawg41 I am not worried about our Defense at all. The packages were vanilla and the adjustments at the half revealed IMO that CTG prepared for Mizzou not Buffalo. Also, nearly half our starters were on the sidelines. CTG also made comments that indicate his mind was on Mizzou, such as calling the game a scrimmage and saying Faton played as well as Franklin when asked if the scout team emulated Buffalo well. I for one am very excited to see some confusing packages that leave Pinkel biting his own pinky. Thanks Soc, great analysis and I agree the 1-5-5 was a Sun Tzu confusion/fear tactic meant to distract Pinkel.

Prior to it closing, I would drive just East of the Arches on Broad and park right at the corner of the beautiful North campus. If an early rivalry game, I parked the car overnight or, if a later game, drove there by 8. Either way my car was filled with several UGA chairs, my grill + grill utensils/charcoal, collapsible food table, cornhole game, Frolf game, football, Keg trash can, UGA tent, portable plug in speakers for cd player (later iPod), solo cups and, importantly, my regulation size home built UGA beer pong table ;) The Keg/beers, coolers and food were brought in a separate car usually and dropped off. We usually saved adjacent spots for Hartwell friends and one for stragglers with a Satellite/TV. Once the game neared, we packed it up and left the car. Unfortunately now that N campus is closed and parking tickets cost more than a kidney transplant, I am going to be building new traditions, especially with law school no longer taking up my time. I will say that I will always remember those Saturdays on N Campus as some of the best in my life. #Adams=DamnAwfulDog

@RedandBlackDawg @Socrates believes in the Marshall Plan What it shows is that he is an exception to the rule. The vast majority of people are followers, w/ fearful teens conforming to their peers in developing a belief system based on fear, humiliation and pleasure. I mentored impoverished elementary students in ACC when my ex-wife was a SPED teacher. There are so many children without father figures it is startling. The only single mom children we saw positive results from mentoring, had supportive mothers regardless of poverty. However, these mothers were rare. One child I mentored had three half siblings each w/ a different, absent father. We tried to bring him to UGA graduation to expose him to success, but his out of work mother refused because she "didn't want to wake up early." We had trouble keeping in touch b/c the mother moved thrm so frequently. This is the typical reality for impoverished inner city youth. It takes a very special person to make it out not only in-tact, but nourished and healthy enough to play ball very well. Each child who went to UGA graduations fared better than most peers. I saw one former behavioral SPED student in DT Athens last year. She was in HS, beautiful, confident and surrounded by a group of respectful, well dressed friends. Her cousin is also doing amazing, but both had a supportive mother duo (the moms were sisters). The point is that ONE success does not prove other children make up excuses or are special enough to overcome their learning/social environment. Indeed, Paris was an "academic and athletic project," but only excelled when supported by Plant. Not to diminish what Paris has accomplished (truly remarkable and inspiring!), but only to point out that he is a special exception.

To me, IMHO, it appears that the NCAA is overwhelmed by the current recruiting violations it has uncovered in its investigations. The publicity and near transparency of many schools severe violations (i.e. Paige Foster) is not only making the NCAA look bad, but tying its hands in a downward spiral of lost control. However, self-preservation appears to be kicking in as the fear of disastrous consequences from multiple scandals becomes a likely near-term reality. Since deterrence by punishing several schools would bring substantial harm to business and education, the NCAA is left with few real options at this point. Imagine if the hammer came down, hard,on Awbarn and Bama? The entire state would suffer economically, education-wise, etc. leading to brain drain. So, instead of tightening the rules, the NCAA is attempting to incentivize cheating in a way that Fosters (pun intended) educational growth. Essentially, again IMO based on public news sources and logic, the NCAA is conceding that cheating will continue, but giving itself a means of punishing non-educational cheating. Also, this seems like a good way to level the moral field, by allowing honorable coaches a more justifiable means of cheating (i.e. CMR).

Basically, he is a workhorse and a student of the game, so he will reach his full potential. Hopefully his capacity is on par with Brees. Nice piece btw!
