@007dawg=Bro.Chette "ble$$ing" recruits at the Barn Opposing teams count on JJ learning the snap count and then use fake snap counts in dire situations to draw him off sides. Same thing happened to Clowney against us when he watched AM tap DA each time to hike the ball.
Well said @ecdawg ! Always the logical optimist. However, definitely sick of my personal life being disrupted by constant let downs... so option 3 seems the least painful.
And FYI, I am being more objective in these statements, which by no means suggest I no longer bleed R&B, believe in any UGA coach's potential, or look poorly on our players. However, the ADept. has some major policy issues that do not align with the rest of the conference that must be addressed or we will forever be stuck in mid-tier status without miracles.
My biggest frustration is not knowing with 100% certainty the purpose behind the harsher suspension policies coupled with the lack of scholly players. At first I believed CMR was cleaning out his closet by getting rid of bad apples and trying to build the program from a base of skilled athletes who played for UGA not personal gains. The recruiting last year and this year supports this thesis because the 2012 class was smaller (stopped recruiting bad apples but not enough time to recruit the new focus on good apples) plus this class is huge but the focus is not as much on star players. It is Peterson's tactic at Boise except with us being able to pull more skilled athletes that are just as coachable and passionate. However, with 20%+ less scholly athletes in our conference, it makes zero sense to punish our team further than it already is through a self-inflicted recruiting "probation." Indeed, by suspending so many players CMR also punishes those who behaved perfectly. Definitely not the kind of forgiveness MY personal savior taught!
If the ADept. wants to make UGA into a false parochial school than it should rethink whether it wants to win in the SEC and whether it wants fans like me switch to LSU or Mich St. I have never been treated so hospitably by other team fans, even UGA, as I was in Baton Rouge in 08. We clobbered em yet I saw almost no real disrespect of the UGA fanbase and saw LSU fans even stick up for a UGA fan pushed by an LSU fan. Unfortunately, the exact opposite behavior occurs on UGA campus (rat snake thrown in a friendly LSU fan's tent in '04, UT fan spit on when ordering a beer in '10, UGA fans booing our PLAYERS at the GAME consistently, fans talking up opponents DURING the game we are losing, etc., etc.). So, how can Les (a mid-westerner) keep most of his in-state stars, win consistently with no QB and keep a rabid fan base in check? Maybe the ADept. should rethink its policies and try to mirror a program that beats us in nearly every way both morally and on the field (LSU).
@GirdersRBending The PA system is something I have not read yet and I was not there (fortunately). I think 85k fans in a packed stadium with Gameday on campus is enough to disrupt the game and force the PA system to be louder to overcome the noise. Plus, this is the biggest game they have played in a very long while because the fans all seem to finally believe that their program is not only relevant, but NC contenders. They knew this game was big and with all the media attention it was ripe for deafening noise a la LSU '04, Awbarn blackout.
As far as passion @RedandBlackDawg , CTG has definitely toned it down a good bit this year. Not sure why, but my gut tells me it is either CMR or his physician (stress on heart). CMR is far more passionate and cusses (horse s**t, a**, etc.) since he handed over the reigns to Bobo. I did notice in one video during offensive practice Bobo forced kids to listen to Zac Brown against protests because "he is a Georgia boy." How can you possibly get fired up listening to ZBB??? I love the guy but definitely not the type of music to listen to when you need to be energetic and angry. EDM/Dubstep remixes of rap/pop songs is played in every single bar in Athens now, so why not play what the kids like to listen to? Especially since the music is very high energy and can make a young man feel like a stud.
@Bulldawg Bob2 I see that, just takes a few loud ones to make it seem that way. I remember when I was a senior back in '04, there was a guy in the back of the student section (who I could hear from the middle) constantly booing our team. Worst memory during a game for me, unfortunately it was a UGA "fan"
@MidtownTeacher EC, we need a double like button ;)
@jc8187 @DawgInBham Ditto. Many bull breeds were culled when they turned against their master... just happy half our fans who are p.o.'d were not in the locker room at the half #Negativity=Loss
@Dawgholio You seem to doubt a lot of things that do not involve OBC/uscJR scoring...
Man, I knew y'all would be barking, but I didn't think the dawgs would turn on their pack so quickly! This thread is just too uscJR focused! Quit griping about our Dawgs and praising the Old Balls Coach! He has far more scholly players, rabid fans in the stadium and a DL that was recruited for his defensive scheme. We have less non-walk on scholly players than uscSR, a half-and-half DL and the growing pains of our OL are painfully revealed. However, we got rid of the self-righteous and, I believe, we are more focused on recruiting coachable adults who want to play for the team's glory not selfish fame. We are becoming a high level Boise, so we need to stand as a nation by our grown men who bleed more red&black than any of our recent 85-scholly teams.
GATA, RTDB down OBC's throat, Sic 'Em and GO DAWGS!!!
Beat the GayCucks!
@Appalachian Dawg just stupid. For instance, "maturation" is used in biology to describe the process of stages an organism develops. He should have used "maturing."
Anyone know whether the game will be on Peachtree TV? Living in Athens with DirecTV but trying to record the game to rewatch it tomorrow.
1 season will put a quick end to it. Although ads are over the top, I will never diss Suthrn hospitality. I pity Mizzou fans when they are rudely awakened in Knoxville to what garbage a fan base can be as a whole.
Grilled ham and Hawaiian kabobs, why didn't I ever think of that?? I love Hawaiian pizza/calzones and the kabobs, so good call.
@RedandBlackDawg @Socrates believes in the Marshall Plan That is all too common on all boards including LHB at times when dealing with a decommitment (see Derrick Henry). They are excited about Hunphries like we were with Theus (hope he learns to not bite for the fake inside kick move less often). However, very reassuring words Soc!
@StevenTurner Technically. However, smelling pot is probable to search a car and the vehicle checkpoint makes the stop nondiscriminagory and valid. The laws are set up to ensure enough charges can be stacked so that the cost and risk of losing on one count in trial of sis outweighed by the benefit of simply plea bargaining. Gun laws are horribly unclear in the GA Code, so it depends more on court precedent in the area. Unfortunately, Athens is much less forgiving than, say, Barrow.
@allyugadawg Thanks! I got my Fig Vinegar at the same section as Balsamic in Kroger. I have not found a good mix of fig flavor with Chicken or beef, but it can work with venison instead of using red vinegar to minimize the game flavor.
Wow! Sounds absolutely delicious. I think I would eat so much I would have no hangover and never get to that obnoxious drunken state no matter how much Bourbon... I recently added a twist to my pork rub that I plan on grilling this weekend. Take 1" thick pork cutlets, rub some Fig vinegrette (fig is key as fig complements the pork and other ingredients), then wait a few minutes, flip over and rub more vinegar on the bare side. The vinegar tenderizes the meat allowing the rub mix to sink into the meat. My mix is about 1/3-1/2 brown sugar with the remainder a small amount of olive oil and fig vinegar plus the following: red pepper flakes/seeds, fine cut Italian herbs (oregano, thyme, rosemary, sage), cayenne pepper ground, sea salt fine, dry chopped onion bits (sweet/vidalia), garlic powder, chili powder. Rub the mix into the pork. I grill on med heat 3 mins each side, then criss cross 6 shallow cuts, place on low heat, spread rub on top after cooking a side for a few mins. The slow cooking and constant rub retains moisture and avoids crusting.
At least we no longer have the interior O-line backing up each other. Burnett is the only floating starter. Also JHC is gaining weight at a good pace, excited to see a 6'5" safety >:)
@IveyLeaguer I have not been this disappointed about a player (Corn) since Marquise Elmore. CW has immense potential considering he ran a 100m at sub 11 when he was around 230 lbs. Definitely a beast but apparent lack of conditioning, nutrition or focus. Thanks for great analysis P.
@Socrates believes in the Marshall Plan @IveyLeaguer @Junkyardawg41 I am not worried about our Defense at all. The packages were vanilla and the adjustments at the half revealed IMO that CTG prepared for Mizzou not Buffalo. Also, nearly half our starters were on the sidelines. CTG also made comments that indicate his mind was on Mizzou, such as calling the game a scrimmage and saying Faton played as well as Franklin when asked if the scout team emulated Buffalo well. I for one am very excited to see some confusing packages that leave Pinkel biting his own pinky. Thanks Soc, great analysis and I agree the 1-5-5 was a Sun Tzu confusion/fear tactic meant to distract Pinkel.
