@Oklahoma City thunder for the win
i have trouble putting durant second after these playoffs. he choked in the fourth quarters every game. westbrook should be second seeing that durant loves to defer to him. westbrook is batman durant has become robin.
this is how i look at this series with westbrook injured and out memphis had the better team overall but durant skill and talent wise was the best player on the floor . but i lost alot of repect for durant after this series especially in the fourth quarters of just about every game even dating back to the houston series he just never showed up. each game was only seperated by a few points so its not like memphis was blowing the thunder out and all okc needed was for durant to be more aggressive and score more in the fourth but he couldnt close any of these last four games out. mentally i dont know where his head is at, to me westbrook is batman and durant is happy being robin. durants a waste of talent he sits back to much.
nothing against durant but he needs to bulk up add about 20 pounds this offseason because in this series and just like last years finals he gets pushed around so much. he is like a stick out there its so easy for defensive teams to stop him. also where did he go in the fourth quarters of these playoffs had a few scoreless 4th quarters and a lot of 2 point quarters i thought he was suppose to be the best closer in the game he completely didnt in this series. thunder management has a alot to think about this offseason id let k-mart go useless, get rid of perkins doesnt play defense and just fouls anyone near him. if the team can be hurt by one guy going down then they need to build a deeper team.
i want to clear something up about the fourth quarter of last game and how durant went scoreless. ive seen people saying he was tired and exhasuted well if a 34 year old kobe can play 48 minutes a night then why cant a 24 year old durant play a ton of minutes and still be effective. secondly many have pointed out how durant was double teamed and sometimes triple teamed yes he was in the second and in the 3rd where he was playing out of his mind with 18 points but if you watch the fourth quarter he was mostly single covered by garcia and stopped attacking and tried to be a point forward. he is the best scorer in the game the fourth is where you need him as a closer. zero points arent going to cut it. im all for getting his teammates involved but everyone could tell his teammates didnt show up.
last game was just awful, besides the bad pick and roll defense or there offensive sets i just think about how uninspired the whole team looked besides durant last game and even he kinda gave up in the fourth quarter. thats not a good sign going into tonights game it almost looks like the thunder have thrown in the towl. the rockets are getting stronger as the series has gone on. think about how even just to start last game the thunder seemed like they were always 10 or 12 points behind and thats at okc. there just didnt seem much fight in this team last game very disapointing if your a thunder fan.
@fireBrooks @bobmcgraw i understand what your saying but thats an excuse, if he was more aggressive going to the rim he would of gotten guys like garcia and parsons in foul trouble because they would of had to foul him just to stop him. but I honestly didnt see him attacking at all in the fourth the way he did in the first 3 its just how do you go from 18 point in the third and then put up zero points when your team needs you the most. being tired is an excuse the great ones always find a way like jordans flew game. he has to get it done even if he is tired.
Its definately panic time. the last 2 games have been painful to watch. the pick and roll defense is just awful parsons gets to the rim at will, nobody seems to even attempt to box out asik. brooks has to change his lineups because perkins is just useless he doesnt rebound, block shots or even play good sound defense he just fouls every houston player that get near him. what happened to durant in the fourth quarter? he was playing perfect basketball through 3 quarters 36 points and didnt score a single point. As shaq pointed out on inside the nba after the game durant gave up on his team at the end of the 4th quarter by standing around on the perimeter behind garcia he wasnt attacking the rim and only took those 5 shots but those were at the end of the shot clock when they had no other option for anyone to shoot. i lost alot of repect for durant after last game he is my favorite player but after having 36 through 3 he could of had 50 points and atleast given his team a chance to win but he just stopped trying. I understand trusting your teammates but when none of them are hitting their jumpshots and your the best scorer on the planet (yes thats including carmelo anthony) it was his time to take the game over and he just gave up. i couldnt see kobe doing that, jordan, bird or anyone else go scoreless in the 4th quarter of a big game he has to be more aggressive.
durant has to stop trying to be like lebron and flirt with triple doubles and just play his game. his game is scoring there is no way he should be the third best scorer in this game on the team.
after last nights game i think its obvious that after this season the thing durant should work on next is bulking up in the offseason. he just gets pushed around against the heat they play him more physical then most team. if he goes in the post more next season it will help. he is just way too skinny. 6-11 inches tall should be atleasst 245 or more lbs.
i like how everyone but the coach knows that the best way to beat the heat is to go small with durant at the 4 yet he keeps trying to play perkins. thats like doing the same ing over and over and expecting different results. losing 6 times to the heat since the finals and only winning once isnt working out to well.
the thunder choke against the heat evrytime, Durant just handed the MVP over for the third season to lebron it must get old getting beat by lebron and heat. eventually youd think theyd learn how to do something different against them. no excuses they started slow every game in the finals there is no excus for that they know its a big game. these kinda games its hard to be a thunder fan bonehead mistakes game after game. Durant has to be better he is playing like crap lately get it together man. westbrook is a headcase ready to loose it at any moment they arent winning a title anytime soon thats for shure.
well KD just lost another MVP to lebron because of tonights game. 0 and 2 versus the heat this season way to go thunder you are really showing them how you improved from las seasons loss in the finls NOT. they are choking massively in this game.
first off no i dont believe the MVP will be decided tonight. but if the heat win it will be in lebrons favor, seeing how he is playing at a historic pace scoring 30 ppg at 60 percent shooting from the field over the last 6 games then put in the fact that durant would be 0 and 2 against lebron wouldnt look good on his MVP resume. Durant has been in a little funk lately i know they blew a few teams out and he didnt play in the 4th but he was on such a great streak scoring and he has come back down big time. secondly i still dont see the thunder beating the heat its not a good match up. the thunder has to many holes in there defense and when they start turning the ball over the game is finished. here is one stat ill put out there dating back to last season regular and playoffs the heat are 6 and 2 against the thunder . its starting to get in OKCs head like they know they cant beat the heat. the heat play small and the thunder try to play big but perkins is so useless he does nothing positive out there. brooks has to change his game plan because trying the same thing over and over and expecting different result is just dumb.
I dont totally agree with the writers opening paragraph. Yes kyrie plays for cleveland and no one really cares much except cavs fans but it sounded like he was making excuses for the thunders defense tonight, like they didnt know who kyrie irving is. Rookie of the year last year, two weeks ago was the eastern conference player of the week averaging 35 points a game and just recently voted in as an all-star reserve so unless you have been living under a rock it be hard to not see what kyrie has been doing lately.
i watched the entire game, three things really hurt the thunder in this game
1) has to be the turnovers. i think it was in the second quarter the thunder turned the ball over 3 times in a row and the warriors scored. even in the 4th quarter to many guys trying to be unselfish and making bad pass after another.
2) brooks rotations tonight were horrible i think he sat durant way to much,. way too much perkins to, he is painful to watch he had so many fouls in such a short amount of time on the floor.
3) westbrooks shot obviously last night wasnt there and he just kept firing away especially down the stretch. he has to pass the ball do other things when your jumper isnt there. his stat line from last night 3 for 16 from the field only 4 assits and 6 turnovers just terrible.
what makes this loss sting is the thunder had the lead toward the end of the 4th and just handed the game over. one more thing i thought their pick and roll defense was pretty bad it got old watching lee, landry or whoever rolling to the hoop and making baskets right under the rim. they have to defend the 3 alot better this team with curry, thompson,, barnes and jack can all shoot the lights out. last thought is even tho durant had a good game i think he needed to be more agressive down the strecth on offense. most of his points especially in the fourth were from the foul line he was getting double teamed alot and tried making a pass that some of the time resulted in a turnover. durant had 6 turnovers last night he is going to have to get to a point and stop playing so nice with everyone and just demand the ball and takeover.
on the mvp thing durant should of won it last year and if it goes to lebron again this season then the award is rigged. micheal jordan was the best in the 90's but didnt win it every year, but everyone knew he could. karl malone won it twice, hakeem won it once as did david robinson. shaq only one once and he was the most dominant player of his generation. I personally think durant is better then lebron the only clear advantage lebron has is passing and his defense. lebron is a little bigger weight wise but durant is taller then lebron 6'11 to 6'8..
lets look at their numbers
lebron 26.3 ppg, 8.1 rebounds and 7 assists 55 field goal percentage 40 percent from 3 and only 73 percent at the foul line.
now durant 29.5 ppg, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists. 516 field goal percentage, 41 percent from 3 and 91 percent from the foul line.
and durants team has a 32-9 record to lebrons 26 and 12. also durant lately has been playing at an even higher level then early this season and if he continues to play like this and the thunder end up with the best or second best record in the league he should win it.
i wish durant played like this every game. he just seemed so much more aggressive then usual. if he plays like this for the rest of the season he should win MVP. i thought he should of won it last season, but hopefully this will be the year he wins and also gets a ring. does anyone else agree he nees to display a little more of a nasty/mean streak and just take over and stop waiting for everyone else? i get whats he is doing but in a way he seems to be holding back at times.
after watching the thunder lately, it seems as if durant is deferring too much to everyone else on the team. I'am all for trying to stay within the flow of the offense and making things work with the team. but he at some point is going to have to stop being mister nice guy and just say give me the ball and everyone get out of the way. he is the most natural scorer in the league, why is westbrook and ibaka shooting more then him? yes perkins is awful get him off this team.
i cant stand the heat its frustrating watching the, thunder lose to them 5 times in a row.
the problem for the thunder is not the offense its their defense.those last 8 minutes or so they made so many mistakes,on their defensive assignments. no talking, just pointing fingers,at one another every time the heat scored.the team doesnt look like everyone is on the same page on the defensive end.yes the officiating was bad,but you cant blame it all on that.the thunder has to change their game plan against the heat, because the last time i looked, the heat have won five consecutive games against the thunder.
