The Impossible Watchman

Slightly put off by the "scary" comment, especially as he said something about believing Robot of Sherwood to be one of the darkest of Series 8 when he was writing that. Post-broadcast, it's one of the lighter episodes of the series and unfortunately one of the worst.
I liked The Unquiet Dead and The Crimson Horror but have yet to be convinced any of his stories are exceptional or even above a 'not bad' rating. Let's hope I'm proven wrong this time, he's brilliant on Sherlock and I'm sure it's within his reach to convert that to Doctor Who.

Slightly spoilery for those who don't want to read the Advance Reviews, DWTV, the end of that reply was pretty charged against the episode.
Then again, my fault for giving in to temptation and watching the video! :P

I don't know why, but a little something inside me wants Phil Ford. He's only written twice for the show, and both times were co-written (and both brilliant from my point of view), but he did good work on the Sarah Jane Adventures.
It's a feeling, I think he'd be very good indeed.

It reminded me more of Tom Baker when he first meets Leela:
"They're not going to come looking for you!"

I thought it was brilliant, 9/10.
Bit confused why the Dalek at the end didn't just exterminate them all but I liked this much more than Deep Breath. Go Capaldi!

I love that picture so much.

I wouldn't say a vast majority, or even a majority, but it was definitely a lot.

7/10, I enjoyed it but I think I let myself get too hyped up for it. Capaldi was brilliant, and the episode itself was good after the first third, but I just felt it lacked ... something. Don't get me wrong, I love Capaldi already, I just think the beginning left a lot to be desired. Instead of picking up where Time left off, Twelve and Clara had already got into some trouble with a dinosaur, leaving me feeling a little disconnected.
Saying that, I loved the Capaldi/Homeless Man scene in particular, as well as the scene where Capaldi and the Half-Faced Man ... erm ... faced off. Loved the fact that the Doctor's broom speech also applied to him - he's regenerated so many times since he was the First Doctor, how much of the original is left?
And as if it needs saying, Peter Capaldi is fantastic.

Snap. "Robots of Sherwood" sounds so much better than "Robot in Sherwood". "The Robot of Sherwood" would work if it had to be singular, but something about the official release of episode 3's name doesn't seem right.
As for my most anticipated episode, I voted for Deep Breath. A whole 75 minutes to watch a new Doctor come to terms with his new body and personality ... Saturday can't come quick enough.

The only thing I don't like is "Robot" of Sherwood. "Robots" just sounds so much better in my opinion. Aside from that, this looks amazing. Roll on the 23rd!

Maybe its just a trick of the light, but what's that by Capaldi's left foot? First thought was an umbrella or a bag but I'm not sure?

If the specials were transformed into The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead and Red Christmas, that leaves one slot left for a special left by the original Waters of Mars.
I can't find any information on it, can anyone else?

What about a Children of Earth-style serial for McGann, a lot like the classic Doctor Who serials but more modern and grown up in nature?
Five episodes or so would be enough to develop the Eighth Doctor and any companions, although I am up for a one-off episode with Capaldi (like The Two Doctors) in Series 9 or beyond.

I hope it isn't Chibnall. As much as I like Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and The Power of Three (aside from the cop-out ending, the episode was brilliant), the rest of his scripts haven't wowed me at all. I'd quite like MacRae or Gaiman to have a crack at Capaldi's first series.

I'd agree with other posters that the last few episodes to be filmed seem to be quite secretive, does anyone have any ideas who the writers could be? If I was a betting man I'd say Neil Cross for Episode 9, but Episode 10...?
I've heard things about a second Gatiss script, Jack Lothian, Frank Cottrell Boyce or perhaps even the return of Russell T. Davies himself. Thoughts?
