cojo is a prime example of why some of these young guards ahould stay a year or two longer but i think he is infact the answer to backup pg, as long as we have a solid 2 guard.. i like him, he's young, smart and his defense is great. not too athletic but who on our team is, save for KL.. playing him with bellinelli would be ok, or playing hm with manu could work as well... i think we have one more run left in us.. but i also think this is timmy's last season and probably Ginobili's last as well... who do we put around KL to continue to compete?
12 months ago on Spurs' Cory Joseph battled self-doubt
This is funny because there were actually people on this board that thought he would be a key ingredient to getting us back to the finals... I hate to say i toldja so, but i toldja so.. Nando is just not there yet and i dont think he'll ever get there..

This is the best assessment of DeColo I've seen thus far... I finally got a chance to watch him during the olympics and my mind hasn't changed about what he's going to be able to do for us.. A lot of the spurs fans see this guy as a difference maker but now that the picture is getting clearer and clearer abut what kind of player we can expect him to be, lets put this difference maker talk to bed. hopefully I'm wrong and he helps lead us back to the promise land but in the meantime were going to hang our hat on whats gotten us 4 chips... playing together, coaching, and defense... jmo

Clearly looking at this Lakers team and matching up the individuals, one could look at both rosters and say the Lakers have better pieces.. but check out our history, the spurs win because they play as a unit.. thats what they hung their hats on last season and we'll continue to do that so long as pop is in charge... our window is 2 years (TD WILL retire then) so i think we can snag one but were gonna have to play lights out... i think with mills bigger role, KL getting better,Splitter and Diaw holding down the front court, and still being able to shoot the 3 at a good clip we'll be formidable.. but do we have enough in the tank to win a title in the next 2 years? who knows, we'll need a surprise guy to step up (In the mold of a Neal, Green,etc)...btw Kyle, way to be negative with this article.. you've got the faithful join nuts...

your being really generous in your assessmentt of Nando.. i thought he was really ineffective, i saw potential but i have a really tough time seeing him contribute to the spurs next season.. however, I've been very critical of him, so maybe i don't give him enough of the benefit of the doubt... guess i'll have to watch more of him...

I'm really going to watch this becuz I've been really critical of Nando and i think the possible match up with Kobe and Harden can show how good he is ala patty mills when he played against the US in the worlds a few years back (or was it last olympics? I'm not sure) Mills actually outplayed cp3 at times during the game, so everyone knew he could play, then he would later go on to to st.mary's and do work.. but looking at the match ups this is pretty intriguing.. i think the US will win pretty handily but France should play them tough....

totally agree jojo.. here we go again with sum silly highlight reel of him playing against inferior competition... fast forward to next years WCF (Hopefully!) and is he doing this against Westbrook, Hardin,Kobe, Nash, Conley, CP3, Billups? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no... i just don't see the excitement about this guy... I'm more pumped over Corey Joseph and Patty Mills who i think will get way more action after the training camp, exh. games and other evaluations.... jmo

I really want this kid to be good and to contribute.. i just don't see it tho... He's playing against 2nd tier talent.. he didn't average over 4 asst. or even over 15pts at all last season.. not to mention it always takes guys a year or so to get acclimated to the spurs system. How many times have we seen a highlight video of a guy who couldn't contribute in the NBA. I'm root in for him but i just have to honestly assess him.. what is he? a 2 guard? so he'll compete with Gneal and Danny Green? well, here's to hoping he can defend and hit spot up shots.... or is he a backup pg competing with patty mills, whom i really like and is more of a true PG... well, there it is.. not real sure if he'll contribute but here's to hoping he can...
Im not sure why everyone is so excited by this potential signing.. This guy won't help us one bit.. it usually takes new guys at least a year to get acclimated to our system. we have enough scoring, we need more defense and a creator. This guy's not gonna help at all... he's a 6'11 guy that only averages 13ppg (scoring savant??) and he also averaged under 5 rebounds (huge red flag for a big man) he's a poor mans mehmet okur.. no thank you... the only moves we should make is for a backup point (i hear sessions is opting out), dumping Matt Bonner (i have no idea with his playoff ineptness hows he's been able to stick this long), and shot creator (your guess is as good as mine).... i know i;ll get ripped for these comments but we'll c next season when this guy is on the end of the bench.... jmo
