@david wo But if there's really profit sharing, what greater value would one get from self-publishing (via blogging) timely material such as, say, reviews or analysis of the current film marketplace? Even if there isn't, not everything has great future value, sometimes it's best to try to make the most of it now rather than banking on future returns.

Now I'm certainly all for getting paid (so is NSFW Corp hiring writers, then?). And I definitely agree that I do lesser work when doing it for free. But how is an otherwise unpublished writer writing unpaid posts for ShowWatcher in order to build a portfolio any different than writing one's own blog for free as a portfolio piece, except that maybe someone will ever read it (unlike one's own blog) because TriggerStreet is affiliated with it? Right now they don't even run ads, so nobody's getting rich (yet). And if the update about profit sharing really is true, other than the "write for us" mailing being hyperbolic, do you still a problem? Serious questions, not rhetorical.

@benwtnb Paul may be a talented writer, but everything I've just read by him on Pando makes it seem like he's trying to be the Simon Cowell of New Media writing. Anger is amusing, but not very becoming.
