Just GREAT...   do all the work to get a byline.  You'll get EXPOSURE!  Yup.. heard this crap before.  Hey Scripped.. f*$k you.. PAY ME.  I work a a letterer in comics.  Unfortunately, I don't work for the biggies... yet. I mostly work for independents and very small publishers and I hear this s%#t all the time.

"I can't pay you, but THIS could be GREAT EXPOSURE for you!"  My answer? F$#k you.. PAY ME.  "You'll get credit in the book!"  F!%k you.. PAY ME.  "We'll GIVE you free copies!"  F%@k you .. PAY ME.

"We'll introduce you to important folks in the industry"  I KNOW important folks in the industry ALREADY.  F&*k you.. PAY ME.

"This wil be a GREAT addition to your portfolio"  - you know what?  MY PORTFOLIO IS BEAUTIFUL.. YOU NEED ME.  YOU wouldn't be ASKING ME to work PRO BONO if my work WASN'T GOOD.  So again I say, F&$K YOU! PAY ME!   I'm not a 40 year old virgin living in the basement of my parents house.  I'm an adult with TALENT trying to make a living in truly bad economy.  I've got bills to pay, kids to clothe and feed.  People and companies who pull crap like this are the ONLY ones that will profit from a deal like this, NOT ME and not folks like me (whether they be writers, or artists in whatever industry they work in).  Don't insult my intelligence... the chance to stand in a room with a man who doesn't want to be there 'sometime in the summer of 2012,' who doesn't give a rat's ass whether or not you shake his hand is NOT payment for services rendered.  Hey SCRIPPED - this is for  ALL the REAL TALENT who you swindle with this 'deal' - F&@K YOU - PAY THEM!!!!!BTW - this is the main reason I no longer write for anything online (I spent years doing that too), because I got tired of working for a f&%king handshake.
