Thanks for your post, Rick. In addition to the benefits you’ve listed, I would add that the cloud frees up SMEs, which often have a very limited or no IT department, to focus more on their core business.  One of the challenges many SMEs face is a lack of time and resources. If SMEs are constantly tasked with IT issues, they have little time to focus on what they do best. By identifying tasks that can be outsourced to the cloud, processes can be automated and companies can realize not only huge cost savings, but they can be more productive. A colleague of mine here at Symantec recently provided a great post to Forbes on how the cloud enables innovation and you can find it here:  http://www.forbes.com/sites/ciocentral/2012/03/01/the-case-for-shifting-your-it-security-to-the-cloud/.

Ellen, thanks for sharing these three tips for password security. They are spot on. At Symantec, we also advise our SMB customers of a fourth tips -- change passwords on a regular basis, at least every 90 days. It is important SMBs to enforce password management for managers and employees.

Thanks for your post, Balaji. I would add one more to your list: security. SMBs often find it difficult and time-consuming to remain up-to-date on security defenses, but with security based in the cloud, they can ensure updates are automatically managed in real-time, and they never even have to touch it. Users should look for security-as-a-service solutions that offer stringent and comprehensive service level agreements (SLAs). Additionally, with security off their hands, SMB IT managers will free up hours of time to focus on other activities that will increase efficiency and innovation.
