Getting rid of Colborne was a big mistake......Burke fleeced Nonis there a fourth round pick pfffftttt! lol.
11 months, 2 weeks ago on Leafs Acquire Peter Holland for Jesse Blacker (with other parts involved)
"Bozak can snipe on breakaways and shootouts. And he has nicer flow then any other center in the NHL. " .....my laugh fore the day! .....'' Better than Crosby, Malkin, Spezza, Kopitar, Richards etc., etc, etc., the guy without Kessel would get you "maybe" a third/fourth round pick!!!

@NotInsane watch a lot of games with Bozak and he skates like he's got lead tied to his ass, because of the lack of a replacement we're sorrily stuck with this poor excuse for a 1C.
@Yaknowwhat@peterbleafs you really believe that! Why pick him off waivers at 5.5 wait till he's bought out and pick him up for 2.5, he's not alone out there looking for a team and a fit. Hell bounce back
@DWCMLHS Been watching Bozak drag his ass for the last 3-4 years and he's got to go.....we're talking a mediocre 3rd liner at best. I would love to see Bolland play an expanded role and take over the Bozak spot ....moving Bozo to 3rd or 4th line duty....BUT THEN HE"D BE OVERPAID lmao!
@Mind Bomb Yeah that was friggin rich, Homer lol he kills me!!! Then he follows giving Breeze a big contract, the reason he moved Carter and Richards (so he says) then after two seasons buys him out heheheh! They lost assets big time over the course of just 2-3 deals. Which is good for us keep up the FAIR work Homer!
Wouldn't be any worse than Carter and Richards, maybe we hold off till into the season....but still the players know it's a business, can't be any worse than signing them for 5 years at high wage and buying out the last 4....yeah a little different in that the player gets rich but hey! Also why isn't Grabo being heavily pursued ????? Or is he????
@Cameron19 @Mike Bosse I like the Isles idea but we would have to eat salary, isn't that why they moved Streit???
@Mind Bomb @Mike Bosse good points everyone, I know Liles is moveable and shipping him west to Oil country seams like a good Idea I doubt we'd get much in a deal like that unless we ship two out the Oil have state dthey would be willing to pay with a young roster player.
Sorry forgot in my rush to add this link of 3 teams who still need defensemen, and the Flyers are one but are hard against the cap.
Three teams looking for defense
Just a thought here not even sure if it works, if I remember right a few sites this one included stated tha t Nonis had said at the draft and the acquisition of Boland and before we got Clarkson that cap clearing measures were still to come, now Grabo and Komi are gone but we still need to move some $$$ around. We all know Colorado has said Stastny isn't going anywhere, but if there's one thing we as fans know the B.S. is piled higher just before a major deal........now bear with me is it possible the Avs may have a deal in place only if the Leafs resign Bozak? Liles back to the Avs one of our better defense prospect from the Marlies and Bozak, from the Avs Stastny and a 2nd round pick, they have about 9.2M cap room we have 10M it may require a 3 way trade with (for arguments sake say the Oilers) who would take on Liles and send a young roster player to the Avs or is it possible we retain some of Liles salry like the story says that would be tough to do since Stastny is at 6M we may even have to do something like a 4 for 2 trade.....thoughts???? GOOD MORNING everyone!
@-Keon- ah OK probably B.S. then

Trade talk surrounding Brad Marchand,
on the other hand, comes as a shock. The 25-year-old Marchand led the
Bruins in both goals (18) and points (36) this past season, and he
added 13 points in the playoffs.
According to Cap Geek, The
"Little Ball of Hate" signed a four-year, $18 million dollar extension
last summer, and he was expected to be a part of the Bruins core for
the foreseeable future. However, amidst concerns about his maturity, he
could face the same fate as the Bruins' previous scoring leader,
Anybody hearing anything on the story Bruins shopping Kelly and Marchand.....they almost sound like they're in full blow up mode lol....one leafs fan hopes so anyway.
Chris Chelios was one of three former NHL players to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Tuesday,
and his conference call shortly after the announcement produced what
was easily the quote of the day, and perhaps the best quote of the
When asked about his sometimes heated history with NHL
commissioner Gary Bettman, Chelios simply responded by saying, "Let's
not mention that name on this call. This is a good day."
Thought some may get a kick outta this.....good stuff Chris!
@-Keon- And Thank You Boston
@Burtonboy @Cameron19 Has to be expected, it's been X years since a cup, the peopel are getting restless. Stands to reason.....Now it's Bell and Rogers that will be on the line....with millions of Leafs fans probably using their services.....these two companies will want results not petty piddling, Corsi stats, or salary caps B.S.....they have people in place to deal with that.....they want results so they can sell the apps on their services.....or why would they put up 1.3 Billion to keep icing loosers. (OK they didn't just buy the leafs but I think youy see what I mean.
@Cameron19 @wendelsfist kOMAROV wants to play in the Olympics makes sense to take some time to get "acquainted" with the players and people who will surround the team itself. He also has an out clause to return to the NHL and probably the Leafs when the Olympics are done.....and no doubt the Leafs would welcome him NP.
@Xxxxxnew Quinn is still boss
1 year, 6 months ago on <!--:en-->With the bulk of the storm over, where do the Leafs stand?<!--:-->
@ingy56 @TheCanucksnaphook @TuckerForPunishment Edmonton would make a play for him, probably get him for a 4th-5th round pick or one of their prospects in the A
@MTK @getstanley1 If he is I think I'll be sick all season long!
@Irishfanman and Jagr at 41 still scores more than 1/2 our Leafs team something wrong with who's prime and who's not lol
@MegaJon THANK YOU BOSTON! lol
@B_Leaf maybe 40 but I doubt it
@Loric76 Screw Bozo very bad plan by Nonis now he's stuck with him and another non movable contract, Clarkson will be the prize this season, but we ditched to much.
1 year, 6 months ago on <!--:en-->Leafs sign T.J. Brennan to a one-year deal worth $600,000<!--:-->
@Nikhil Daljeet @Cameron19 @moimoi that will be interesting to see the best to the Sens but we just got a lot tougher....cheers Sens fans but not even!
@joe YEAH finally sombody who know value, I like Carlyle watched him when I was younger, but DAMN did he fuck Grabo
@Loric76 throw her $50 and say nice job babe, tongue in cheek....lmao
@dlb eh @Xxxxxnew yeah yip
@DeclanK If that was Brunner I'd be excited!
1 year, 6 months ago on <!--:en-->Clarkson and Bozak Spill Over Thread<!--:-->
@Cameron19 @Black_Hawk @dlb eh B.S. he's one of the premier set up men in the whole league.
@dlb eh @Cameron19 what exactly has Yip done .....nothing get off the wagon lol
@Araujo_DirtyAM well I've been crying for the Leafs to get this guy for 3 years now well I got my wish hope he Garry Roberts like and he can last till 36...I'm OK with Bozak but please involve him in the next 1C negotiation upgrade! Now go get Jeff Shultz NONIS!
1 year, 6 months ago on <!--:en-->UFA Day Open Thread<!--:-->
@Cartsy I think that's what Nonis meant when he was comparing him to Grabo and Bozo
@Cameron19 thank you Boston
@newkb @Mike Bosse @Yaknowwhat I disagree we have all season to swing a deal, say you sign a Ribiero or someone cheaper...he can be dealt at any time should something open up...either that or pay Bozak what he wants and trade him getting the #1C is the biggest challenge facing a lot of GMs not just the Leafs an it's doubtful one is just going to pop up either. You can sit on your hands all you want and practice patience (not a bad thing) but at the end of the day (or season) you better make the playoffs or face the fans, that is why I prefer Burkes tinkering build as opposed to these blow ups, by the time this new team gels it could already be playing catch up....in the same breath it may be on a crazy take off. Guess what I'm saying is with this much turn over look for them to struggle at the start of the season.
1 year, 6 months ago on <!--:en-->UFA Day: It’s time for Nonis to deliver<!--:-->
@daniel marois @Loric76 Nah that Grabos' job your talking about lol
@newkb @Yaknowwhat I should have added this also during RFA arbitration proceedings teams will be allowed 1 money buyout to either save an RFA player or if the arbitration award is to high the team can walk away. Believe me there will be more buyouts, and teams walking away from RFAs and the landscape is about to go through many changes yet. Everyone on here seems to think we need to spend that 24 M today...NOT. I agree with Yak on this one take your time, wait for other teams to stumble then pounce on them.
@newkb @Yaknowwhat I've never liked tear down or big overhauls...guess that's why I like Burke but in the same breath we all though the same about Burke when he got here WTF is he doing then bang Kessel, then bang Phanuef...I'm willing to wait Nonis out. I hope he does go hard for the #1 center we have some decent D-men, a good shut down d-man (Enter Jeff Shultz) #1 center hmmm Rebiero on a 1-2 year contract (face it we only need a stop gap till one of our guys is ready) and a couple role players these moves open up roster spots for some of our Marlies who deserve a shot now. The building process is not done, this is not a cup contender....YET!!!
@daniel marois @Mike Bosse maybe not but lesser players have suprised or much later picks
1 year, 6 months ago on <!--:en-->Goodbye Grabovski<!--:-->
He's stuck behind some talent there and wants out of the Peg he is 21 been in the NHL 3 years but lacks proper grooming, good project low cost investment.
Argue no more:NHL.com official compliance buyout trackerUnder the provisions of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, each team is allowed two compliance buyouts in the next two seasons, during specific windows of availability, as spelled out by the CBA.The first of these windows opened at 11 p.m. on June 26 and closes at 5 p.m. on July 4. Any player bought out during this window has his salary-cap charge completely wiped clean, but the team must pay two-thirds of the remaining contract across twice the remaining term of the deal. The bought-out players become free agents July 5 and can sign with any team, other than the one that bought out the player.Clubs have bought out or announced their intention to buy out the following players:A list of players are found here but the bought out player becomes a UFA signable on the 5th ....been telling people this for 3 days but you know people they love to argue!!!http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=675349
@skiingallday @Komas Taberle then they can PAR-----TAAAAAA when they play each other lol
@ShotgunCharlie @KurtWhite I don't think Nonis is 1/2 as sharp as Burke when it came to trades...Calgary was crying this morning they needed a 2C, 3C and a 4C how do you not swing a deal of some sort there???? Burke was cunning and ruthless....2 qualities Nonis lacks. But I'm still curious as to his moves, it will say more of his style......
@McDickey @skiingallday any money the big portion of the money is going to RFA signings but***what if he's going all out on an expensive D-man and a Weiss type player
@ShotgunCharlie @Yaknowwhat @Loric76 think big that's a lot of $$$$
@Omac13 Yeah if I remember right they had chemistry wouldn't be so bad I guess we got tough guys coming out of our Rs but Clarkson more durable than Horton....but still?
@gjdevlin they don't actually sign until tomorrow at 12:00:01 but they can come to terms.
@RielledUp bloody favoritism that's what it is....lol
Jeff Schultz 6' 6" 230 lbs defensive D-man was owed 6 m bought out probably; get him for 2.5
