Vol fan here. I really wish that Dave Hart were as prepared and thorough as WKU's AD. Based on the search process, Hart had a crumpled big mack wrapper on which he wrote the words "cHarLiE StRonG"...in crayon. Thanks Dave!
No comments on the nature of the big win by your cats last night? Good thing everything is always on the up and up!
Martin declined. The UT job is such a ridiculous joke that even alums can't bring themselves to find it attractive. It's a wonder they could find anyone to accept millions of dollars to take it!
I know this is vexing for you and your fellow Cat fans, John. Just roll out a few more trolling references about how stupid UT fans are when it comes to coaching searches, future coaching searches, etc. You'll feel better.
Hart is amateur at best. A fool being used for leverage by agents all over the country, just like Hamilton. The biggest boosters need to step up, put some serious money into the search and start vetting REAL candidates. PROVEN candidates. Perhaps our biggest boosters aren't all that sharp? Letting Hart continue to run this search would indicate this is the case, or that they simply don't care very much about the search at all. Allowing Hart to remain in charge is akin to allowing a student who just completed Biology 101 to perform heart surgery. The guy is so far out of his depth it's ridiculous.
0.0% chance of anything happening. Slive is still in nirvana after watching his precious win another SEC championship game. Poor guy would have been crushed had Murray spiked the ball the sealed the deal. Sooooo....nothing to see here. Just football. Move along.
The problem is that the list is NOT long. It's short. And Uninspiring. Guess we should've listened to the condescension from Pennington and the rest of the Knoxville Media. At this point, there don't appear to be any "home run" hires in the mix. We're trolling now......
Thanks! But, no thanks. Stay in Tallahassee Jimbo. Being better than Dooley doesn't make you good. Or even competent. It makes you a guy that recruits 5 star players to a school that recruits itself and then does....well...not much. James Franklin or Larry Fedora at least appear to have upside.
Awesome. Sunbelt/WAC loser reject list time. Maybe we can snag Jimbo Fisher. They guy with a roster full of talent......that can't quite handle the rough and tumble ACC. At least Fedora seems competent, if not exciting. Will be interesting to see if Tennessee gets serious with this his hire. If history is guide, the answer is emphatically, no.
Beautiful. Maybe UT should just give up and hire a coach with a winning record in the MAC. And we wonder why the program stinks to high heaven. Bama can hire a real coach. South Carolina can hire a real coach. Arkansas hired one too. It's just not that hard. If Hart is trolling the B List, might as well board it up. Garbage In = Garbage Out.
Ha! Objective journalism. You're a different flavor of the Finebaum/Clay Travis model. It drives traffic. You're still around - a testament to the effectiveness. You grew up in Middlesboro. What's next? A sportswriter from Brazil claiming to have no rooting interest in the World Cup? Meh. People vastly overrate their own objectivity. You like Calipari. We all get that. It's not a sin. No need to write 5+ paragraphs trying to prove otherwise.
Anyone who intently stumps over the piety of John Calipari and shakes his fist violently at the lack of iron clad evidence (or smoke...or the public outside of the commonwealth's general disdain for him) has to have a bit of big blue in them. C'mon John. Did you grow up in Kentucky? Spend part of your life there? Calipari isn't defendable in the least if he's not brokering...errr. coaching your team. You're like the Dick Vitale of SEC Country.
How do you like the hire for your Cats?
@alamoaggie08 Don't be too apologetic. Of course it's ridiculous and far-fetched, but it's interesting that there have been no "costly" upsets in the SEC Title game since Slive took office....and the officiating in the 2004 SEC Championship game was particularly interesting. If you're ever undefeated heading into Atlanta, go ahead and book those tickets.
From ESPN:
"Tennessee might have pulled off the upset if not for three crucial penalties. Cedric Houston had a 70-yard touchdown run wiped out by a yellow flag, and a holding call negated a 44-yard pass from Clausen to Robert Meachem.
Also, Campbell threw a 53-yard scoring pass to Devin Aromashodu -- putting the Tigers ahead to stay late in the third quarter -- after an interference penalty on Roshaun Fellows extended the drive.
Tennessee was livid about the calls.
"In 13 years, I've never criticized the officials, and many times I've taken up for the officials," Fulmer said. "I'm not going to cross that line now, but I'll be real anxious to see the film. That's all I'm going to say."'
Fulmer is an idiot conspiracy theorist too.
Not much of a dilemma. Why are there "Conference Fans"? What do UGA or Arkansas or Missouri gain from Bama winning a title? They get to brag about getting beat by the "champion". Screw Slive and hisw gerrymandering on behalf of his beloved golden geese. Gig em!!!!!!!!
Still not sure what NFL scouts are seeing in Bray and Hunter. Bray has a big arm. Hunter is an athletic freak. Neither show up for SEC games. Maybe that's not a concern and the scouts think with proper coaching both can be effective?
The numbers are lower obviously. But the recent recruiting domination by UK is unprecedented. Given UK and Calipari's well-earned reputations, it's not difficult to connect the dots (unless you're the NCAA).
Logic would suggest that NCAA should buy a condo there as well. Unless, of course, you believe that *all* of the top players in the U.S. just grew up loving UK, loving Calipari, etc. The NBA is obviously the big draw. But it's not like these kids can't get drafted if they go to Wisconsin or Syracuse or UCLA or Western KY. It's only shocking in that more folks don't scratch their head over this. Essentially the equivalent of Bama signing the top player in the nation at every position in a class comprised of only 5-star recruits...every year. Nothing fishy at all. Right wes?
Meh. This is mere child's play compared to the Bataan Death March that Tennessee fans have endured in recent history. Half a football season? Pffffft. Barely a blip. The past 3-4 years as a razorback have been a veritable paradise in comparison to America's most cursed fan base. Hopefully the hogs can continue the turnaround.
Good points. Despite coaching for a rival and recruiting well, its pretty clear that Richt is a genuinely good guy. Which begs the question of how a certain bball coach with exceptional recruiting "skills" got his reputation (Hint:its not jealousy).
