Well worth the temporary hearing loss :)No pics of any of the deeply impressive field of Formula 5000 though !? The largest competing group of its kind in the world, so I'm told..

Wouldn't wanna kerb those bad boys! They do seem to detract from the overall look just a little though, mostly on the 1/4 & 3/4 views. A wee bit OTT when the rest of the car is super clean and stock. Still, pretty staunch cruiser! +1 :)

@earmenau Yes, I agree that progress is necessary, but in this configuration, will it even sell? Perhaps. Mostly, i imagine, to people who want a well built luxury cruiser with power to boot, yet can say to all their friends and colleagues 'oh, I drive a hybrid, don't you know' and feel good about themselves. Bit of a farce really.. On a positive note, damn that rear end is good!
Waste of time. It's not like the 5L V8 really needs any additional power for the open road, and if outright power was their goal, they could get far, far more of it with an additional 400kg worth of conventional engine, than hybrid system. Conversely, if fuel efficiency and minimal pollutants are the goal, it's not like the hybrid system is going to make such a heavy 5L V8 cruiser any more fuel efficient than a modern no-nonsense smaller capacity engine, say 3L, that dosn't have to pull around all that extra bulk. And be far cheaper, and probably not a lot slower, particularly through corners. I'm not against the ideals of hybrids, but to me this just seems to be trying way too hard to be the best at everything, yet not really that great at anything..
Villain. If the passing car can't safely execute the move without forcing the other driver off the limits of the race track (room for at least one wheel to still be on the inside of the white painted line, not the rumble strip) or forcing him to take drastic action to avoid leaving the limits of the track or a collision with the passing car, the 'gap' was never there. Furthermore, the passing car is only entitled to be given racing room from the car he is trying to pass if he can get at least alongside (wheel to wheel) the car he intends to pass before the turn in to the corner, not a late dive under brakes half way through the corner. These are generally regarded as standard racing rules in most forms of motorsport, including F1, and are there for a reason. They should be respected, otherwise they mas as well go drive stock cars. Skilled drivers like Kimmi R who demonstrate this time and time again when they are attempting a pass are also more likely to be given the same respect by other drivers when the situation is reversed. Unless they are Perez, of course. He's fast, but far too reckless.

Have faith! With Tetsuya Tada at the helm, I'm sure it will turn out fine. He does seem like a bit of a gear head himself, and won't want to be 'that guy' who ruined Supra as was the fate of MR2 and Celica. No BS All-alloy I-6 turbo! Do eeet! =D
@Amin_nfs Beating the Zonda R, Possibly. But then the Zonda R is a racetrack-specific car and cannot be road registered (to the best of my knowledge) so not really a fair comparison. With that said, if the P1 still outruns the Zonda R it will be even more impressive. The 12C was built to beat the Ferrari 458 for less cash, and does. The Huayra is in a different league entirely -> 388hp/ton vs 512hp/ton... (supercar vs hypercar?)

Stunning? absolutely. But, will it outperform the Pagani Huyara?? Will be a close battle I think, though you would expect the edge to be in the McLaren's favour... Time wil tell.
@ColtReid This is all very true, however the 3SG and 2JZ, as good as they are, are weapons of the old guard. Would love to see them use an all-alloy conventional straight 4 along the lines of the 2ZZ-GE (but with 2.0 displacement) with ~11-12:1 compression and dual VVTL-I with high lift secondaries and direct injection. The largest car manufacturer in the world shouldn't have to steal someone else's engine to power the revival of one of their most famous ever cars. 86 should be all Toyota's doing.

And yea, All for KERS and saving the planet or whatever, but bring the technology in through the heavy Lexus cruisers first.
Im repeating what a few have said already, but why not offer the best of both worlds? In addition to the cheaper base model, bring in a lighter, higher specd NA version (~230ps) for the purists and a supercharged version for something a little more beefy. The 2.0L NA SXE10 Altezza offers 210ps (~5ps more) from an engine developed well over a decade ago, one would expect them to at least surpass this. I realise emissions standards aren't helping here, but still.As for turbos, Not a big fan of the complexity required for the boxer engine in this instance...
Haha this is terrifically nuts! Can't imagine you'd see much of the road in front of you, or go round corners particularly well, but has definately got cool factor. Coolest Honda I've seen around for a while.
