I like Cleary, but his knees hate him.  I like Bert on a line with Pavel, but unless he is okay with rotating in and out of the lineup as an injury replacement, he will probably have to take his back pain elsewhere.

I'm on the fence with Quincey.  Lots of players turn it around in contract years.  If he re-signs, I expect him to shift back to his 2012-13 form.  He wants to sign for $2.5 million, I'm good with that.  Some other team will pay him more than that, though.

I hope Legwand stays, but again, we will likely get outbid by someone offering more money or more playing time.

Even though a lot of our young'uns haven't played a full NHL season yet, and who knows which ones will sophomore slump, I believe the question of whether Howard and Weiss can return to form next year will have as bigger impact on next season than anything else.

It is fairly common in my part of the country to support your conference/district/county team after your own team has been eliminated from the playoffs.  This seems farcical.

@Jay Argentina I wasn't a  big fan of Fehr's MLB comment either, but asking the players to roll back salary AGAIN after such a short time seems like a really, really ballsy move on the part of ownership.  Ownership got everything they wanted last time around and now they want the moon again?  It doesn't look good, but I am firmly in the player's camp on this.

@ThroatShot  @Lauren H That would be great, but owners will never agree to remove seats to make their rinks bigger.

I have a thought...Gary Bettman should die with festering boils or maybe work on putting a better product on the ice instead of spreading franchises into markets where the teams aren't viable.  Because it would be just terrible if we had a 15 team league with a 60 game season and each team could field four lines with a legit scoring threat on each line.  We all know how boring that would be.

How many young kids do you want to bring up at one time?  Kindl is due a legit shot to improve with full time minutes.  Brunner is already pegged to start in the top six.  Smith is going to be a full time D man.  Nyquist has earned a more legit shot than he got last season.  Mursak is purportedly faster than Helm, but he busted his ankle in the pre-season and so we just cut him loose and don't give him another shot when he is healthy?  Emmerton...yeah...he can go.

The same people that complain about not bringing up the kids are also the same folks that will bitch the loudest if we don't make the playoffs in 2013.  Can't have it both ways.

He will be with GRG for one year and we won't get a sniff of him in the winged wheel this year, but next year he will see some playing time in the Joe and the following year...he's a full time Wing.  No way he stays in GR entirely for all three years.

Hey...a guy can hope can't he?

I wish I knew why TooTolo was in and out of the doghouse this past year.  More alcohol problems?  Let's hope not.

We may have to face the fact that Eaves may never be a factor again.  Last I heard he still wouldn't risk any kind of contact and after sitting out a year, if he is cleared to play, how long would it take him to find his schwag again?

Who is getting traded?  Miller?  Abby?  Nyquist?   I have not the foggiest idea at this point.

I agree with Buffalo's GM who said something along the lines of:

The next year's free agent crop always looks better, but then the season starts and a lot of those guys get re-signed before they ever make it to free agency.

What happens if we pass on Suter, hoard our money, then find out Weber wants $11 million per year?

Yes, Weber has his best playoff series ever against us because up to that point the Red Wings were his kryptonite and he finally decided to push back.  Well, his team was out in round two and his penchant for being physical without being smart bit him in the ass more than once in that series.
