Not a fan of the engine swap in the rx7... but the color, wheels and fitment is spot on. One of the best looking 1st gen rx7s I have seen.

I am! Watched the trailer last night and can not wait for it.

It's good to see they kept with the original cars. And didn't swap it out for a new Mustang or other V8 2 door as most modern day remakes would have.

@777  @FunctionFirst PAC Performance here in Australia are starting to play a little more with the renesis engine. They are currently working on their own workshop project car.

Called project 500, the car will be running a garret turbo charger and turbosmart 45mm hyper gate mounted low between the block and strut tower. A V-mount radiator and intercooler setup will take care of the cooling side of things. The engine has been stripped down and rebuilt with strengthened internals and larger ports. Everything will be controlled by a Haltech PS2000.

Money definitely doesn't buy you taste. WTF is with the spoiler/kit/ugly ass chrome wheels on the SLR? Best example I've seen of ruining a hyper car. The black on black Countach tho... so much WIN!!!

As for the discussion... rx7 or not. Any car with pop up headlights should keep them. Because pop up headlights is just way too cool!!

The kits and front end swaps just keep getting crazier and crazier as the years go on.

Standard body work dropped nicely on a set of wheels is all a FD needs tho. The occasional front lip is ok too.

Long live the FD rx7.

@MR_E_Stranger thats what i did with my WRX... saved up the money and spent it in one hit. did wheels, tyres, brakes, suspension all at the same time. Why put the car in the air multiple times and strip the same parts over and over again. Aint nobody got time for that.

1 year, 5 months ago on Discussion: Project Car Priorities

Reply

Depends what im modifying...

For my wrx it was, general maintenance, brakes, timing belt and the like , then started with usual bolt on modifications , before doing suspension and wheel upgrades.

For my 74 Datsun drag/street car it was , body work and chassis modifications , taking it to bare metal and taking care of all the body and fab work, paint and panel, then setting up the suspension, steering, brakes, diff ... engine and wiring is last to get done and go in.

It all comes down to what vehicle it is, what you want to do to it and what your going to use it for. Different horses for different courses.
