I admittedly don't know much, if anything, about Turner. How is he on defense, and is the increase in his scoring average related to his actual talent or overinflated? More importantly, what's  his basketball IQ, and do some of you PSers think he'd adjust quickly enough this season (assuming a trade happens) to  fit the system and make an impact within it?

Awful. Heinous. Nauseating. Complete disaster.

This Spurs team is composed of men, not YMCA youth leaguers. To dress them as such is an insult not only to our 3 future hall of famers, but to the prestige of the franchise as a whole. I hope that following this Christmas game, these jerseys are burned to smithereens, and never again see the light of day. And if we lose the game and our shooting is poor, someone should lose their job for going along with this cheap marketing ploy. Okay maybe not lose their job, but still.

The Spurs are too classy to play in such outright deplorable uniforms.

Pop is so right on this.

Over the last 12 years, more than two million Americans have been deployed to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. But for thousands who return home with injuries, another battle is just beginning - this time, with the incredible wall of bureaucracy and inefficiency within the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA). This Veterans Day, please take a second to write your senators and congressional representatives urging them to advocate for a top down reform of the VA as well as a reallocation of funds towards veterans services in order to more thoughtfully, efficiently, and thoroughly address the many important needs of the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much to defend this country and the Constitution.

A team composed of the leftovers ie: Duncan, Nowitzki, Bryant, James, and Stockton could easily beat this team. But so could a team composed of the Monstars from Space Jam and Patty Mills in front of a crowd of hobbits from Middle Earth. An extreme counter example perhaps, but relevant in that no matter how you slice it, lists like these are all just a bunch of hooey. Just like the aforementioned hobbits are unlikely to see any legendary NBA action soon, none of these teams will ever play together.

While it may be fun discussion for some, bickering over them at any length is sheer stupidity and journalistic drivel at its finest-- especially in articles, such as this one, seeking to pile onto some influential player's offhanded and half-serious remarks all for the sake of community engagement and web hits (by the way, you're welcome) in an otherwise uneventful few days leading into the commencement of training camp. Really, who cares? Get over it.

@Spursfan66I'm sure the Danny Ferry and Coach Bud connection is definitely a major cause for this, and they wouldn't train with just anybody. But still, good point. Definitely awesome of the Spurs to take the time to "collaborate", if you will.

Before passing judgement, I'd recommend to anyone, especially true lovers of the game of basketball, to watch the documentary VICE filmed about taking a reporter, a few Globetrotters, and Dennis Rodman to North Korea on a diplomatic mission. Aside from the fact it features Dennis, it's fascinating on a number of cultural and geo-political levels.

Clearly, it's foolish to expect Dennis Rodman to somehow reverse years of darkness, repression, and subjugation that have defined the People's Republic of North Korea-- but perhaps on some level, especially as Kim Jong Un is evidently a massive fan of the 1990s Chicago Bulls teams, Dennis may be planting some seeds and making a positive impact, however small, on that country's future.

1 year ago on Mendez-Valdez: Spurs’ Joseph could be on way to breakout season in San Antonio

What about Patty Mills? The hoppy Aussie literally tore up the UK Olympics in 2012, arguably against better international squads than Team Mexico.  And furthermore, he was the only PG to be named to the All-Olympic team, beating out Tony Parker, Russell Westbrook, and a slew of other star studded NBA point guard talent.

Now clearly, Patty Mills is not on the level of Chris Paul or Tony Parker. But my point is this: If Patty's leadership and international success did not translate into an increased role within Pop's system, it's not necessarily the case that Cory Joseph will find new found success and a greater role either.

From Michael Hawkins:

“Last night, Atlanta Hawks head basketball coach Michael Budenholzer was stopped by a Georgia State Patrol DUI Task Force officer for a broken taillight. He was stopped solely for an equipment violation and committed no traffic offenses. The trooper demanded that he submit to a breathalyzer, and when Coach Budenholzer asked to consult with an attorney first, he was immediately arrested and charged with DUI.

While at the jail, after consulting with an attorney by telephone, he immediately volunteered to take both a breathalyzer and also requested that a blood alcohol test be performed. His request for testing was refused. Immediately upon his release on bond, Coach Budenholzer went directly to Piedmont Hospital where his blood was tested at the earliest opportunity, albeit several hours after his arrest. The official report from the hospital blood test revealed that his blood alcohol concentration was less than .01, well below the legal limit of .08.

Coach Budenholzer has no prior criminal record and entered a plea of Not Guilty to all charges this morning in the Atlanta Municipal Court.

“I take my role as a leader very seriously and hold myself to a high standard. I apologize to the fans and to the Hawks organization for any negative attention this incident has brought upon my family and the organization while the legal process evolves and I contest these misdemeanor charges,” said Coach Budenholzer.”

@gymbear @gymbear AMEN, especially that point concerning his shot aggression. As good of a passer as he is, he just seems to be a little over pass-happy at times. IE: Pulling down an offensive board and passing it back out to a guard instead of just going right back up strongly with it for a look at a high percentage two. Not that he needs to start jacking up shot willy-nilly from all over the court, but he needs to be a little more aggressive in recognizing and seizing quality scoring opportunities when they are presented.

Ok, so definitely not a very humble thing of him to say. And surely not that mature. But then again, after following his Twitter page for a while, stupidity like this is clearly not that surprising.

Having said that, I will go on to say that I always thought Dejuan's on the court effort, energy level, and rebounding always kind of reminded me of the hustle type of plays Malik Rose, a similarly undersized forward, used to provide the Spurs in limited but meaningful minutes during their 99' and 03' runs.

On a slightly similar note, I would have liked to have seen DB get a few minutes in the season, playoffs, and the Finals. And in terms of the Finals, surely he could not have done much worse than Splitter who, let's be honest, is a very talented center. Yet it is undeniable he (Splitter) did not match up particularly well during the Heat series, and his drop in production and efficiency clearly show that. And in a series in which the difference arguably came down to one rebound, whose to say a small dose of DB's hustle plays and ability to grab a few more loose balls may or may not have been able to make a difference, even if only slight? No doubt a stupid thing of Dejuan to say. But at the same time, I think a small dose of Dejuan, at the very least, would not have been that bad for the Spurs against the Heat.

Read all that? Good for you, and thanks. Now feel free to reply, carry on with your Friday night,  go get hammered drunk, and meet a nice lady friend.

I think I prefer Pendergraph over Baynes at the moment though. I really think Jeff has the potential to bring a better overall defensive game than most of us expect. Stupid. One of the dudes who runs the "Spurs Talk" Facebook channel has heard rumors from a source inside the Spurs organization that sleeves definitely are in our future this season. However, when a marketing dude in Spurs, Sports, and Entertainment called me up randomly yesterday, a cold call of sorts to try and sell me tickets (not sure how they got my number), I asked him if he had heard anything about sleeves to which he replied, "No, I don't believe so." My point: Who the heck knows. I certainly hope not. It would be a disgrace to watch Tim Duncan play in what would look like a YMCA youth league jersey.
