@NavyBuck Its simple Buck, UW is covert and FID is overt using HN forces alot of people throw those two into the same conversation and they are two different entities all together. Check out FM 3-05 it will make more sense than Wikipedia.
Sounds right I work part time with another 3 letter doing that acronym and they are letting all contractors go and closing the doors, smart thinking considering what just happened. Who needs HUMINT right??
I proceeded to beat the seat in front of me, on a commercial flight, then fell asleep and woke up and high kicked into the aisle. I looked over and the dude next to me was scared shitless and begged me not to fall asleep again. I drank the remainder of the flight and stayed awake. That stuff is deadly, I stick with benadryl now.
@rozhbash Our strengths are all of those 3 and SR, CT and many others, we dont just focus on FID/UW like everyone believes.
Yea SF phase 2 SUT, saw elephants, my dead grandpa and swore I could walk and sleep at the same time! Good stuff
@majrod @Tweeder @robgb Agreed on the culture, I have worked with them for the last few years and can say it is a different culture, hard to pinpoint but SEALs are just very different from SF guys. Being the only SF guy on these exercises I watch and observe, different culture indeed. The poster above I too joined SF for all those reasons, know that you are making the right choice if that is indeed why you are coming to Bragg, good luck!
Im curious from the active/retired SEALs, what makes your community more inclined to speak up, make movies and star in them and sell their stories. I have been in the SOF community for years and have great stories, I could write a killer book, but have no intention of telling anyone, reason I have a very high clearance and choose not to lose it. I know there have been our fair share of guys writing books and such but I do believe the GB community is much more tight lipped and does go by our motto "quiet professionals", biased opinion but just curious.
Rest in Peace Chris from all your brothers that wear the Green Beanie, you will be missed!
Nice shot at the ODA guys, one day Rangers will get the "one team, one fight concept" good story though.
@JackMurphyRGR No worries brother
@JackMurphyRGR @robgb yeah guy i get it, and yes i serve and still do, I just do not like the fact that units such as these, which I served in, gets published. I am not like you Jack, I prefer to stay off, not under the radar. I appreciate your service guy, but not all of us want to write books, be in books, be on TV and blog. We want to do our job, go home to our families and be left alone, thats it, no disrespect...
One day I will understand why this information is even being put out or discussed on an open forum, guess Im just a idiot SF guy that would like a little bit of what we do stay secret......remember "Quiet Professionals".......in all aspects.
Haha you not the only guy that had the same experience as an Xray, good stuff. My first day at SOPC was packed full of fun! Best time of my life, the gig pit was amazing!
The media refuses to cover any of it as well, read some foreign papers and you will find out more about the story and truly how savage the attackers were and how they treated the Ambassador. Good job Obama camp, you have been such a nation builder.....
@Old PH2 @JackMurphyRGR @bogman2121 Sorry disagree guy, it would have been very quiet and only said that Special Operations forces killed Bin Laden, done, over.
For those of you not in the "community" its simple, we sign up to do great things at 3 AM, we dont talk about it. Thats part of it, when you get your TS/(multiple letters), you agree that what you do stays with your team. One guy writes a book and then it just snowballs and now we have what we have. Its sad, yes, he has a family, he should have kept his mouth shut. Now because he wrote this book someone outed him and now everyone know who he is, he should have kept his mouth shut. Sorry my opinion, I could write a sexy book about a very pivitol part of the war on terror, but what I did was classified and no ones business but myn and my teammates. I dont feel sorry for him one bit, he was a part of something incredible and worked with some of the best operators in SOF and he should have been happy with that....
@CJCJ @JackMurphyRGR @IDRINKWATER Damn you SEALs are killin us SF guys, 3 movies to none, we are just a buncha shitbags i guess...
@JackMurphyRGR @IDRINKWATER @CJCJ Absolutely Jack, the Navy PR machine is absurd, prolly promised the guy a movie deal as well, oh wait thats coming out in Dec.
@majrod I am with you, before the election it was ok, now all I hear is complaining. Look you guys repeatedly put yourself out there, example Act of Valor. I know it was only a few but they are active duty SEALs! Totally unacceptable, that is not a quiet professional and when you guys heard about it you should have had a little sit down with those guys and told them how it was going to effect the community. Just a green beanies perspective, oh and I love you guys just like my own.
