In honor of DoDi celebrations and Justin Turner, I believe that the new Dodgers slogan should be "Big Nasty Redhead".

I am sure I am the first to say this.

That pitcher in the video is skipping into the fray.

Something people don't talk about enough: the joy of combat.

@ABSmileBunch @Casey the DeliMan Based upon what has been said, and Zaidi's academic background, I would assume that the new regime is trying to establish a total value system for analyzing players, meaning that defense is more highly valued than traditional metrics allow, but does not fully trump offense. That being said, I am sure that they will be looking at the impact a quality shortstop might have on the relative defense of a second baseman and vice versa.

Defense can be very collaborative, which is part of what makes it hard to quantify effectively.

@DKD @Lobo @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @efb @Mike Petriello The thing about comparing Gordon to Kendrick is that Gordon got obviously tired over the course of the season. It kind of doesn't matter if you are old or young. Tired is tired.

The thing that worries me is the lack of offensive value depth in the infield should any of these guys get hurt.

This is especially true at SS, since Turner really shouldn't play there.

Darwin Barney may still get 200 PAs.

And it seems DD consensus that Alex Guerrero shouldn't play 2B, either.

Thanks for the covering the bases post, @Mike Petriello. This is a reminder of just how chaotic the roster was last year.

If things fall into place, one might call this offseason the "Don Mattingly, Manager of the Year" campaign, since so much of the stuff that was a major distraction last year will be dealt with.

The biggest downside I see is that there is almost certainly going to be an uptick in the "what did Puig do this time" chatter.

@Santa Blahs That almost ruined him for me.  Randy Johnson was my favorite player. He made birds explode. He looked like he would eat the batter - potentially by accident.

I remember when there was serious debate as to "will the Dodgers get Randy Johnson or Kevin Brown?"

If the Dodgers had gotten Randy Johnson at that point in time, I think I would have been the happiest person in the universe.

Instead, he went to the damned Diamondbacks and they won the world series and the Dodgers got a guy who was great when he wasn't breaking his pitching hand punching a wall.
