Banned Books?!  Really...is this a thing in 2014?  I've read a lot of these and don't understand.  Although I do agree with you, @ginidietrich about bleaching of eyeballs!  I say let's ban close-mindedness first!

Love this Schelfie with three people I truly adore & respect!  Can't even describe how much fun it was to hang out with Mark & Gini at #SMatWork earlier this year!  They are the REAL DEAL - kind, helpful, interesting and crazy, crazy smart!  Case in point - seven patents?  Wow! :)

Not surprisingly, this is a very smart approach and I can totally see why your team is so dedicated and why it's hard to get them to take time off! (what a problem, eh?)  As you point out, it won't work for every company or even for every employee, but what a win-win for those who can do it well.

@ginidietrich you realize that you're going to have an avalanche of resumes coming your way, right? :)

@ginidietrich @mathewsn  Something I've done with my two girls since they were little is to frequently say to them..."Sophie/Emily is..." and they're to finish the sentence with three things.  One of my proudest mom moments was when they gleefully yelled, without prompting, "Smart, Talented & Awesome!"  And I'll brag about that until the cows come home! :)

Excellent post, @LauraPetrolino - it's always interesting to think about the differences that make folks tick and I love your action-provoking ideas!  For me, I'm naturally an extrovert (ask my kindergarten teacher!), but find myself being more introverted as I get older.

Extra credit: Be a connector. When you meet people, introduce them to others. Expanding the circle of relationships only creates good things. I try to make at least a couple of new connections each week.

Take the time to sit down and answer these. Use Sidenotes on the blog, if you like and want someone (me!) to hold you accountable, or keep them private.

It would be fun to check back in a month or so and see how many of us "crazies" did this and what the impact was...

Catching up on all I've missed earlier this week...Of course, when I saw this post was by @bobledrew AND had Comedy & Tragedy I had to read it immediately!  Sure glad I did...really excellent points and I so agree with the "how does it sound in your head" advice!

Regarding the restaurant post...I was more "offended" that in their apology they used "to cheap" instead of "too cheap" - starting to think I might have been an editor or English teacher in another life. ;)

@ClayMorgan Can't tell you how I love this post!  I work with my brother, a board game designer, who has had two successful Kickstarter campaigns.  I've learned that one of the reasons these campaigns work so well for gamers is the designers/producers enlist the buy in of the folks who pledge by offering cool perks and by including them in the process.  Pledgers are not just donating to a game, they often have the opportunity to become an editorial voice in how the game develops or sometimes become part of the game itself.  This approach is likely one of the reasons that Games are the top earning category on Kickstarter according to the data just released by the company this week.  So, I heartily agree that engaging customers and giving them a unique and important role, beyond the purchase, is really powerful!
