Still not a fan. Skins always seem more cluttered than vanilla android
Bring it on. Market share doesn't lie.
Looks like the perfect case for what im looking for. I just need to find a way to justify the $60 price tag...
Thats a quote by pablo picasso. Steve jobs just stole it, or borrowed it, or innovated it...or whatever apple is calling it nowadays
You're forgetting that Samsung profits enormously from their partnership with apple. Breaking that partnership would result in losses on both sides. I think the potential to make money will always override whatever personal beef there is between 2 companies
This is good news! I've been having terrible signal and constantly losing service on my galaxy nexus. I don't understand why they don't just roll it into the jelly bean update though...makes little sense to push out two updates so close to each other...unless jelly bean isn't coming as soon as we thought.
Expecting mine on Monday. So excited!
Yep! Got my shipping notification for my 8GB Nexus 7 ordered on 7/2. Can't wait!!
These types of covers have always made very little sense to me. This is designed so that the device will always be in the case right? Judging by the cut port holes... To me, the beaty of the nexus 7 design is how it feels in your hand. The backing and the size is perfect to hold. Why complicate an elegant design with a case that's designed for you to keep it in at all times? A nice slip case will be perfect
If this smartphone is as heavily skinned as the kindle fire is than I won't sell. They will have to put a more familiar android experience on the device. That being said I do like the idea of another major player like amazon coming and helping with these ridiculous patent problems. Having a solid team of android partners will keep apple from doing whatever they want
I don't necessarily think Google is the main culprit. If they don't have support for a platform, then it won't take off. You said it yourself that none of the carriers are allowing Google Wallet except for Sprint. There's only so much they can do if they only have access to one carrier. We all remember the Verizon fiasco when the Galaxy Nexus came out without Wallet. The primary carriers are the main culprits without question. They are far too greedy to do anything that doesn't directly benefit them. We need a major carrier with good morals and our phones will be amazing.
This is getting downright ridiculous. If this continues on, then competition between tech companies will no longer exist. The US needs to seriously consider changing their patent laws to allow for logical competition. How the hell does Nokia have a patent on a Wifi feature anyway? Seriously? It's Wifi.
I believe it was sarcasm.
I would say Apple Inc is definitely stealing features from the apple itself. Its sweet when your first bite into it, but when you get to the core there's nothing but gross and dirty seeds
@TonyAvila You will be fine. As a matter of fact anyone can still buy a Nexus, this decision will be tied up in court for a little bit before any real action is taken
@Maraiah What Apple is good at is making people think the things they come out with are revolutionary when they are really just evolutionary. Just because they build on their products and come out with new OSes doesn't mean that they are changing the phone market like they make people believe. The problem is most people are too ignorant to know what's really going on so they just blindly buy their products because Apple's fancy commercials tell them too. They have become so mainstream that literally anything they do is worshipped by the general public. Scary world we are living in...
As much as I would love to wait for this I simply can't resist buying a Nexus 7 right now...although I'm sure I'll regret it once the 10 inch comes out.
@roboguy12 I think that the tablet UI would be much too cramped on a 7 inch device. the Nexus 7 is meant to be primarily used in portrait mode while being held in one hand, this type of use makes it pretty logical that they decided to go with the phone UI. I think that if it was the tablet UI, then that would force users to use it in landscape mode, which would just be weird on a 7 inch tablet
Such a major step forward! It's becoming clear that Google is dumping a ton of resources into their Nexus line, especially with the rumors that say 5 new Nexus devices will be released later this year. It almost seems as though Google was unsatisfied with their partners' contributions to the Android tablet market and decided to take matters into their own hands, and what a beautiful job they did.
@ChopStickSamuri No micro SD slot or any form of memory expansion. The more I think about this, the more I realize that it's not necessary. As an average consumer, the majority of my memory goes to music, photos, and videos. Well, using Google's integrated services, all of that stuff is stored in the cloud, and seeing as we almost always have an internet connection nowadays, theres no reason why all that content can't just stay there.
Another useful tool of micro SD slots is to transfer files from a computer to a device, well, Google Drive makes that way easier than having to remove memory cards to transfer files. I think Google realized this when they decided to exclude the slot.
