@hypethedad @YellowingSucks  I completely disagree because you have to look at the larger scale.  the influence then drives sales, and there really isn't a way to measure that. So will the sneaker itself turn a profit? But it will lead to sales and profit for the company as a whole. Look at what the sneakerhead culture did for the revival of the Foamposite line. Why, just 4 ago it was relatively easy to purchase the Air Jordan 6, either varsity or the combined pack. End of this year will be hell to get them. Same can be said for the CDP Packs, or DMP 1s. Now look how hard it became to buy Air Jordans 1,3, and 6. That can surely be attributed to the influence of Kanye West coupled with the sneakerhead culture. In past years, only the Jordan 11 garnered such demand. Now, influencers to actually generate revenue for companies. May not be directly from such shoes as the collaborations, but the trickle down does. ie "yeezy inspired" anything Nike does. Stats, can be very misleading in things like fashion...case in point here.

Although I like Late Registration greatly, the knock I have on it is...to many tracks. Skits, all that. Whereas he started to make more concise music in albums following which is why I rank MBDTF as the "perfect' Ye album. There is no album filler, not one song that isn't good. It truly is perfection.

Um kinda...with this "hipster" "tastemaker" wave really hitting a head in 2010, I do believe he spearheaded it since he is one of the biggest influencers around. The "it" sneaker became Black Cement III way before the 2011 version was announced. Also, in 2010, Black/Varsity 6s sat on shelves considerably long for a Jordan release. Now the price of the Air Jordan 6, any pair, 2000, 2010, or Pack is ridiculous. Jordan 1s, I will credit him to. But guys like Theophilous London and Kid Cudi are responsible to the Hypebeast's affinity for the Black Cat IV. Also, due to the success of the Louis Vuitton Don, I do think other brands took notice to how well an all red shoe can do. So Kanye isn't 100% wrong in this case as in with most cases, he's just terrible at articulating things sometimes.

@AntonioJenkins So historical background should be the only reason why a shoe is hyped? Um..yeah...makes sense.

It's always funny when it comes to questions like this...no one ever picks the current release, ever! But I bet in 10 years, no forget that, five years if there's another release, there will be these so called "sneakerheads" saying "Oh man, the 2013's were so underrated blah blah blah". Sneakerheads have revisionist memory I swear

@_DFrance  @clearancescaavenger I agree, they suck. Think about it, it's 16 year old technology you're working with here. Think about all the advances they've made since 1997. I'd try something newer to play basketball in.

Reading these comments makes me question people's sense of style. But I guess being a sneakerhead has nothing to do with being stylish.

Charcoal VII's...please can we get out of this Raptors shit? If anything, DMP Pack rightfully has the Raptor name.

Seems really bulky, reminds me of the 8...I loved how sleek and streamlined the 9's were.

Looks way better than the ashy joints from '02, and just because you see the glue lines in this shoe doesn't mean you'll see em in the ones you cop.

Maybe I'm too picky, but the Navy midsole killed this shoe
