1 month, 1 week ago on Hub Arkush: Bears are too old, time for complete rebuild
I don't know of any real data out there that says that young teams win superbowls. If you have something tangible, please show us. Otherwise, this is just a guess that the Bears can't make the playoffs with these 30 year old athletes.
good read. I think the Bears look great on paper but I don't understand why the packers get a pass on their D? They were bottom 5 for pass rush and run D? They picked up Peppers, who PFF says is declining every year, and they drafted a S (ha ha) who most likely will not start this year. So, after the Bears revamp the D with youth and experience, yet it is the packers that get a pass? Something is not adding up!
Packers don't spend on D like they could have, and Detroit should experience the first year coach syndrome, but this is never mentioned. I have to say I like the Bears chances this year.

Or, there is now way a particular player will be available for the bears. Just adding to why I have disagreed with past mock drafts.

This is a great draft. I would have no problem with these guys. Great job and good read. The other mock drafts that I have read all have at least one player that I object to, be in need or lack of instincts.
With all the needs that the Bears have, you have them picking a OT in the first round. The Bears just got a OT and TE in FA. I think that Emery's FA moves have changed whom the Bears would take in the first round. An offensive "speed" weapon or LB might be a better choice. I trust Emery and if he gets an OG, well, new blood will be good for a poor to average OL. The Best choice the Bears would be to trade back, and get two picks for one in a deep draft.

P.S. The only thing that Lovie needs to improve on is the overall Bear vs Packer record. If he leaves next year, or in two years, he will go down as a very "great" Bears Head Coach.
2 years, 8 months ago on Let's hear it for Lovie!!!
We have seen great teams under perform and we have seen mediocre Bears teams (under Lovie) out perform any and all expectation. I am a big Lovie fan. I believe that he has done with less, what other coaches could not. If I were GM, I would give him the next two years, and I would let him know that. The pressure of this year, or bust... with a new offensive coordinator, offensive scheme, etc... Don't ruin it with undo pressure of "do or die".
If Forte is happy then I am happy. Why do I think you need to know this? I live in Packer country and I need the bragging rights of mutiple Bears wins, and especially wins over the Packers.
2 years, 8 months ago on Bears, Forte Agree On 4-Year, $31.5 Million Deal
Are we allowed to use such language in our blogs. I am a die hard Bear fan, but I now live in Green Bay, WI. For years local TV had to mention the Bears, during #^&$packer news updates, as a frame for reference. It was like they had no identity without the Bears. People up here act like they hate the Bears, but I have discovered that most of them are closet Bears fans. Bear down %$#packer fans, perhaps your team can move to LA, and your pain will be over. I said the word twice. I hope I didn't break any blogging rules.

I think that he will get over 2000 yards and 15 TDs, but more importantly, Hester adds 5 more TDs too.

The kid from Chicago is Crump. I could be wrong though....
2 years, 8 months ago on Chicago Bears rookie on the hot seat: Evan Rodriguez | July
I never quite understood why the Bears drafted him. I would have thought that as TE go, he doesn't fit. What was the spot in mind for him? I like a lot of other players much better then Rodriguez. How about that UDFA local boy. Lets just call him a TE and call it even.
The bears have done many things in this offseason, all of which have been exciting. This news made me take notice. There were many 7 step drops that didn't result in a sack. So, why this reaction. This makes me think that Tice is rolling over. Tice, don't eliminate anything. There will be a time this year when the opposing team will have no pass rush, and these plays need to come out of the play book. Everyone wants to follow the path of least resistance, but a good manager must guide others to the path that gets the job done, and done right. Bear down Tice....
2 years, 8 months ago on Knee Jerk Reaction: No Seven Step Drops for Bears This Season
I agree, and you are right on the money. I don't know how the players put together their lists, but there is something strange about the final list. The list doesn't follow statistics, or perceived talent. Must be a popularity list.

Pay for the loyalty, show the team that you lay down the money for that intangible thing called respect. Pay the man, it's only money, ...... and cap space, but mostly just money.
2 years, 9 months ago on Who needs who more, Matt Forte or the Bears?
Lovie always responds well to the hot seat. Bear down Lovie...
2 years, 9 months ago on Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith in a Familiar Position in 2012
Cowher doesn't have the class of Lovie.
I like Lovie, and the players seam to love him. I might be a win or go home situation, but I would keep him for several more years. The guy has class, and bring class to the Bears. Emery should see this after this year. Lovie has given us some exciting seasons with very little talent. This will be a winning year, so Lovie should be able to walk into other head coaching positions around the league if Emery gives him the sack. Let me end by saying that we could do a whole lot worse.
