Gentlemen, I'm sorry to say that we might have all neglected this last post by Bruffins. He will be missed.
@TheCanucksnaphook @Mcost61 @.JVR. Stop lying... we all know it's: firstname.lastname@example.org

@.JVR. @Mcost61 I'd be interested too: email@example.com
@Burtonboy Don't think a guy like him should be paid that much. I'd say $4.2M tops.
1 month ago on Maple Leafs hire Brandon Pridham as new assistant GM
@Burtonboy @Burntheboats LOL Poor kid
1 month, 1 week ago on Friday Mashup: The Swarm & Coaching Duties
@Burtonboy Habs? Sell it right away, or better yet, throw it in the garbage.
@Mcost61 @Burntheboats I think its on the players and the coaches. But I think from my playing experience the assistant coaches actually have more to do with buying in than the head coach does.
1 month, 1 week ago on An interview with Maple Leafs assistant coach Steve Spott
@gravyface @Walter_White Detroit, look at my comment above.
@Mcost61 @Burntheboats I know, but people are so afraid of using the swarm AT ALL just because our players are bad defensively, and blame Carlyle because they are so bad defensively. Although I don't like alot of other things Randy does, I don't think you can pin that on him.
“In the D zone, I’d never heard of ‘the swarm’ before I got here,” said defenseman Kyle Quincey, who spent 2005-08 in the Wings organization, left for almost four seasons, then returned at the trade deadline last year. “He never talked about that eight years ago. But if you look around on video, all the teams do it now. He’s definitely a very good systems coach. He’s definitely challenged me to a better player, for sure. A lot of skating in this system.”
For all you who think Babcock is a great coach, which I do... wait for it!!! He uses the SWARM!!! *gasp*
In regards to the swarm, it is one of those systems that works, BUT only in the right circumstances. For example, lets say you are facing a team that likes to play with the puck down low, then you use it. If they like to use the points, it only makes sense to cover them. I think we are all too scared of the word "swarm" now because of the atrocious way Randy used it. I think that if we begin to use it only when needed, and with the modifications which Spotter talked about, it will run just fine. It is the same thing as different forechecks. You can't always run a standard 2-1-2 or a 1-2-2, sometimes other options work better in different circumstances and against different teams. Hockey unfortunately doesn't have a one size fits all system in any zone.
@Yan28 WOW! I can't wait! The suspense is building!

@drummond Not to mention the Marlies will be SICK this year!
1 month, 3 weeks ago on Toronto Maple Leafs sign Daniel Winnik to a one-year deal
@Hifi75 Yakupov is a horrendous player in both ends. He can't make plays because he is to selfish, and is so lazy in the defensive end. I'd rather Kane.
Love all these great cheap bottom 6 signings! So far Shanahan has impressed me in almost everything he has done (minus retaining Randy). Our bottom 6 this year could be one of the best in the league, and if you look at all the recent cup winning teams, they have 4 lines who can all play well and play lots!
Although some may not be happy with the hiring of Dubas (which is completely unfathomable considering he is considered to be one of if not the greatest up and coming hockey mind right now), I'm sure nobody has the audacity and stupidity to not rejoice at the firing of the "capologist" Loiselle, who did nothing for the good of the Maple Leafs, but instead burdened them with terribly built contracts, and Poulin.... what did he do again?
As for the Booth signing, again, there is absolutely no down-side to bringing him aboard. He has the potential to score 20 goals, and buys time for some of the younger guys (Nylander, Leivo) to marinate in the minors. Overall, a great day for Leafs Nation, and one that could be a great impact in the short term and long term!
1 month, 4 weeks ago on Leafs sign David Booth to a 1-year, $1.1 million contract
https://twitter.com/BarDown/status/489820627894018048 Pretty sad that no good goalies are coming out of Toronto. Mason is the best?? Really?? Although with that line-up you don't even need a goalie! lol
2 months ago on Maple Leafs re-sign Peter Holland to 2-year, $1.55 million deal
@Xxxxxnew I'm counting shootout/overtime losses too.
@Xxxxxnew Simple... when you lose more games than you win, you tend to get out scored. Plus, we did out score the opposition in the shortened season.

@Mcost61 Poor Henny, he's having a tough time coming up with questions lol
@mike_84 They don't get ALL their ideas from here.
If anything could help him look better it's a Leafs jersey ;)
2 months, 2 weeks ago on Friday Mashup: As the smoke clears for the Toronto Maple Leafs
@Bruffins @Burntheboats @FrycersGhost I agree, just making a joke :) I honestly think they'll finish top three in our conference next year.
2 months, 2 weeks ago on Mike Santorelli signed by the Maple Leafs to 1-year, $1.5 million contract
@Bruffins @FrycersGhost Poulin next summer: " Our 4th line could never gain chemistry after Bodie broke his hand at camp, hence why we finished last in our conference."
@skiingallday He will be on our third line.... with the Marlies.
@Bruffins Deryk Engelland. $3Mx3 for pure truculence.
@Eye of the Tiger That is a nasty third line. Teams would hate playing against them.
@RandomScrub @Burntheboats http://www.livefyre.com/profile/15422559/ Never mind, if he were banned then all his posts would be deleted.
@RandomScrub @Burntheboats K thanks, but then again I did read some where in a different thread today that he texted some poster saying HI to us?
@RandomScrub @Burntheboats Are you sure?
@RandomScrub @Burntheboats I think so, if you try to tag him to anything it doesn't work. And he hasn't posted anything in a while. EDIT: Maybe he deleted his account?
So did Greg Fenton get the banhammer? It's about time.
@leafersutherland Not for long!
@Komas Taberle @Mitch_S2 You'd sell yourself to Columbus for Johansen? Now here's a Leafs fan boys!
@Komas Taberle 1st line centre? lol
@Loric76 "Kontiola is a 29-year-old who was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2004 and played a dozen games with the Blackhawks in 2007-2008, registering five assists and, in that small sample, putting up great possession stats. In two AHL seasons, Kontiola scored 140 points in 159 (regular season plus playoff) games, before heading to the KHL, where he has scored 152 points in 204 games over the past four seasons, the last three with Chelyabinsk Traktor. He had 14 points in 16 games playing for Finland at the Olympics and in the World Championships.
With that track record, it's possible that Kontiola could contribute some offence for the Maple Leafs but, as a 29-year-old who has barely seen NHL action, he could also be a spare part. The good news is that, signed to a contract for $1.1-million for one season, he's a low-risk investment. If he wins a spot in the lineup and contributes, they can work on an extension; if he doesn't, no big deal."
Sounds like low risk- high reward at its best!
@Bruffins I'm disappointed in you. Traitor!
@TheCanucksnaphook @Burntheboats To burn it?
In an attempt to cheer Phook up, I will post this: (Just pretend that is a Leafs jersey and if you can't do that look at how sad he is to be a Duck ;) )
@Loric76 I've had Phaneuf of your jokes!
@Armchair GM Kontiola for Premier?
SHANNY FOR PRIME MINISTER!
