2. Gus Malzahn will be the only first-year SEC coach to register seven wins.

Uh, didn't Sumlin have 11 as a first-year SEC coach?

@Speedy98 I agree.  People don't realize what a stud Showers is.  I wish he transferred to a bigger stage than UTEP, but I think Showers and UTEP will have a good season.  If Manziel wasn't playing, we would have lost his improvisation.  That likely would have cost us against La Tech, Ole Miss, and Alabama.  However, we would have gained Showers' arm and accuracy.  I think we might have beat Florida and LSU.  Instead of 10-2, with a win over Alabama, we would be 9-3 with wins over Florida and LSU.  Remember, Manziel barely beat out Showers for the starting job.

Here's a concept to prevent injuries... better conditioning.  I haven't seen any comparisons, but I wouldn't be surprised if the teams running hurry up offenses have fewer injuries and schools running traditional offenses.  The reason is hurry up offenses demand better conditioning and better conditioning reduces injuries.  If Saban and Bielema are worried about injuries, the answer isn't to slow the game down, it's to improve your off-season strength and conditioning program.  If you think a slower game is better, switch to baseball.

@Clarence Forgot about the Big 12ish.  That's their safety valve.  Deloss will order the commissioner to extend an offer and they'll run an 11 team conference, playing 9 conference games so they can continue to avoid a championship.

HC success in the pros does not always translate to the college game, and vice versa.  UT's taking a big risk.  I would rather hire a proven HC from the Sunbelt, C-USA or MAC than a former NFL coach, especially since he's been out of coaching for a while.

What if this is all about Notre Dame?  Delaney is a chess master.  He was caught off-guard by Notre Dame's semi-affiliation with the ACC.  The B1G has long coveted the Irish and figured if they ever decided to hook up with a conference, it would be with them.  So Delaney snags Maryland, whose administration has long lusted after the B1G.  Behind the scenes he tells them not to worry about the $50 million.  If necessary, he'll help.

In a heartbeat, the ACC has gone from stable in mediocre to shaky and the Big East is in cardiac arrest.  With the potential for his new world disintegrating beneath his feet, what's an Irishman to do?  Return to the old country?  Maybe that's what Delaney hopes.  There's no Big East for the Olympic sports.  The ACC is looking unstable and Delaney could further destabilize it. by picking off UNC and Duke, now that the B1G looks more like a premier basketball conference than a football conference (plus all of the AAU pointy heads).

Who knows?  Maybe Delaney's on the phone to Indiana now asking, "So where are you guys gonna live?  You know your new neighborhood's starting to look like Detroit."

@j_scott_o - rivals seems to have a bias for more stars for commits to established programs. In a way this makes sense. If Saban wants a guy, he sees something and we know he's a good judge of talent. Take their ratings with a grain of salt.

Wow.  I always thought  Jimmy Johnson was smart.  What a stupid notion.  Ignoring the morality of the situation, a supervisor having sex with an employee is an invitation to a lawsuit that the university would lose.  This is why any employer would take the same action as Long.

Boss: I'm going to get right to the point. It has come to my attention that you and the cleaning woman have engaged in sexual intercourse on the desk in your office. Is that correct?

George: Who said that?

Boss: She did.

George: Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon, you know, cause I've worked in a lot of offices and I tell you people do that all the time.

Boss: You're fired.

George: Well you didn't have to say it like that.

Vandy should just tell the B1G they're upgrading their strength of schedule with teams from the MAC and Sunbelt

Look, Dodds never imagined A&M would join the SEC.  It's his worst nightmare.  It kept him from taking the Okie twins and running west a year earlier.  Now, all he can do is make snide comments and bully the Big 12-2-2+1+1 into boycotting A&M.  This guy is total spin and personally did more than any other individual to take down the Big XII.  Within five years, the sips will be begging us to play them and working the legislature to force a game.
