@Haloruler64 I was contemplating whether or not selling my Transformer was a good idea to "upgrade" to the Nexus 7. I'm glad I did, I can live without the keyboard and the buggy, restarty ICS update (until the N7 did it with 4.2). I do miss the old tablet layout on Android with the buttons and notification bar on the bottom, works so much better in landscape imho.
As much as I would love a Nexus 10, my Nexus 7 serves me just fine. I have no real reason to switch or to justify the higher price.
I've never been a fan of Touchwiz's notification sounds and ringtones.... Sense or ICS+ for me :D
It's not awful, but HTC really need to be focusing on the special features of the device. The BoomSound ad is a step in the right direction, but they need to do more than that. Showing off what HTC Zoe and the automatic highlight reels would be a great idea.
"There’s a 5.8″ qHD TFT display (resolution unknown)"
Isn't qHD the resolution? 960x540 with a ppi of around 190.
So that is what the "New Download" notification was telling me about earlier on my Nexus 7... I was guessing it was just another nightly.
I'm guessing the screen will be 720p as every phone (apart from the One and GS4 which are stated for the future) that Home will be available for first on April 12, the One X/X+, GS3 and Note 2 have 720p displays.
@Haloruler64 Here's the one they're showing in the UK at the moment :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN-cigNrueg
"City" is a cool city :)
@Haloruler64 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Huegn5EfA2A I couldn't find a better quality version.
I saw a German ad for the One showcasing it's dual front speakers with a nicely done ad of people in bands and such performing, facing away from the viewer. I think that one is particularly effective, now to do it in English :)
Great review. I enjoyed reading it and would mirror a lot of what you said.
Battery life for me can be average to terrible. I used my phone moderately over the course of 2 hours and from a full charge it was then on 35%. Gaming performance is also disappointing for me and I'm glad I found a reason why some games are fine and others are down right bad. NFS Most Wanted being the worst performer. I like how the camera is quick and easy to use, but it doesn't excel in good lighting but its low light performance ain't bad (but it ain't no 808 Pureview, 920 or the new One)
In relation to the development side, I'm disappointed with my One X+, mostly thanks to HTC and NVIDIA. Unlocking the bootloader will delete several system apps and such in the process, meaning that you can no longer OTA it and there is no S-OFF (while the Snapdragon based One XL and S have S-OFF)
Still, I'm happy with the device as whole, the physical hardware is just too good, especially that screen. But, I'm looking to upgrade to the 2013 One when it finally arrives after all of it's delays! :(
If my Galaxy Note was anything to go by, I bet the S4 will be indeed built very well but for me, for a good experience starts with the materials used on the device. I have will often spent ages just twirling my One X+ or old Desire HD in my hand because it's pleasing to the touch. I personally prefer a device that feels "weighty" in my hands instead of overly light. Although, I gotta give it to Samsung, their phones are built like a tank almost.
Grrrr.... Bad, HTC bad! :(
@TreParker The back doesn't open it is sealed.
I usually finish the school day with around 15% remaining after moderate use throughout the day, so having a portable charger like you mentioned is a good idea.
No, no, no :(
I agree, I haven't this way about any application before. I think I bought the app early on back in December 12. I never thought that an app like this would be such a big target for piracy, I'm glad that that's been stamped out but then the issue of Twitter's obscene token limit still remains... :l
If HTC can stick to their word then this will be great. But they need to get the rest of their 2013 line up right, I didn't like what I saw from the previous leaks....
In my experience, my 3GS was the worst phone I've ever had. Needed 3 replacements and they all suffered the same issue of poor and often usable cellular connection in terms of voice, texts and data. Did not have those experiences on any other phone I've had
All I want to know is... How will the "menu" button work now seeings as there is no Recent Apps button for it to utilize.
