My 8-year-old asked me last year, "Redskins??? Why are they called the Redskins?"
If there's not a simple answer to this that you can explain to an eight-year-old--and there isn't--then the name probably sucks. And it does.

@mjtrepanier To which violent cultist text do you refer? There are several in play.

Earth's most important current conflict is the one in the United States. The country isn't just ungovernable--it has two sets of people that don't even agree on the basic meaning of America. As in, what the country actually is. At least one and arguably both of those groups are driven with religious fervor. That can't last.
Meanwhile, the economy is slowly seeking a global equilibrium. We'll be lucky to get through the next two generations with just a bloodless coup, a radically different SCOTUS, and a Erdogan-style majoritarian government. That's best case. Our foreign policy no longer matters except as it relates to our inexorable internal conflict.
Good to see the Big Ten is keeping the one academic program with a grammatical error in its title. Gotta find SOME way to compete with the SEC, after all...
