For me, best part of Thabo and Serge getting those shots is where the assists came from.
Anyone notice how many of these plays are in the alternate jerseys? Coincidence? :)
First Thunder game attended this year, picked up tickets this afternoon. Glad I went. In game tweet: 'The Thunder didn't just open a can, they opened the whole case. #thunderup'
4 overtime games so far tonight, and the home team has won all four.
To be fair, it's only the starting lineup the article is talking about. Any other lineup is way better, which is the point they make.
It would be interesting to know shooting % on unassisted shots vs assisted ones. A team might succeed with lower assisted shot numbers if they were getting high % unassisted shots
But at the same time, you have matchups like Dallas vs Miami 10-11, where Dallas was ranked 1 and Miami 26th, so with good teams that have superstars, maybe the difference in assists might point to something.
Several of the lower ranked champs beat even lower ranked teams, like Miami last year being 20th beat us who were ranked 30th, or Miami 05-06 (17th) beating Dallas (29th). Of course, you're talking about low assist teams even getting to the finals, so they have to have something that helped them get there. The main point is, assist numbers don't seem directly related to championships.
In the last 10 finals, only 4 teams were in the top 4 in assists per game, and 3 of those lost (BOS 09-10, LAL 07-08, LAL 03-04). Only winner was DAL 10-11, and they finished 1st that year. 7 of the last 10 champs were lower than 10th, and 5 were lower than the team they beat.
So the team didn't turn over information that they didn't have, and the punishment is to take away an asset we didn't have at the time of the alleged not-handing-over of the non-existant information. Makes sense to me... #fail
Mentioned the last game stat in a different thread, but here is the cumulative +/- numbers for the Spur's bench by game. #1: +29, #2: -21, #3: -44, #4: -14, #5:-62. Of course, Manu moved from the bench to the starters for the last game, so I don't know how much that mattered. By comparison, our bench is #1: -29, #2: -3, #3: +3 #4: +25, #5: +45. Game 3 included garbage time, so not sure how valid that number is. I'm sure specific lineup data would be more informational, but I'm too lazy for that. :)
Spurs bench +/-: combined -62. Since depth was supposed to be one of the Spur's strengths, that would seems to be significant.
Westbrook and Harden were 4-6 from 3, 2-17 from 2, and 2-6 FT. Strange night.
If he doesn't extend that left arm, I'd say it's 50/50 if they call a foul at all. With Sef being totally defenseless in the air like that, I think you have to call it. If the original block attempt, without extending the arm had knocked him down, then I agree with Miller. With the arm extension, not so much.
