Hey Nathaniel, thanks for writing your post as you're hitting the head on the nail of how things should be in the future. I left a comment about half an hour ago, but it was deleted for some reason. Anyhoo, while I agree with your vision of hardware and software interacting together and communicating with fitness equipment, we're talking about an integration across the entire supply chain and not simply a mashup of API's that would be much quicker in pumping out. Not only that, a different take on a viable business model would have to be implemented as well.
