@chis_matthew dont build cars for attention then get all sad face when people call you a poser - slamming a sports car, adding a turbo and adding wheels that scream look at me, I need attention while I try to make 5 mph turns around anything without shredding my tires. Is not the way to endear yourself to all peoples.

Seems to me John Sheppard ran 7s in his street legal awd talon a decade ago with much less hp - this seems to be a case of the wrong platform taken to it's extreme IMO

I can't figure out if it's ugly or just boring - way to bring a Veyron down to a "tuner" level, sorry "tuner" implies something better - this is more like "poser"

there are some cars that look good hella flush I guess but wheel tucked audis are not them - they should raise both of them up 2 inches to get a better look and some handling.

The rays hq looks exactly like the building the syrian rebels were pushing civilians out of the windows of on youtube. The side of it looks like they had a kitchen fire at one point. Cool post bro - it's nice to see random car culture like you were driving along wilshire or something.

I can just imagine a commercial for the 86 in the uk - "with a quarter mile time of nearly 16 seconds the gt86 is sure to upset the labor party" cans of silly sting not included.

@KenshinG yes because any kind of negative commentary will destroy the planet and or just totally annihilate his self esteem and turn him inwards towards finger painting - If he really loves his car it wouldn't matter - if all he wants is attention and doesn't like all he gets - sad face is sad.

@KristofferSandnes oh lord another person that says everyone has to be positive about something that's ugly because it's function - well Rhys Millen has proven that fast functional cars don't have to be the unholy spawn of the world of outlaws just like inumerable others even the monster is fairly attractive. It actually does a dis service in racing to claim that styling is a moot poitnn when people spend so much time and money to incorporate it to reflect the base model vehicle. - This isnt an nsx any more than a funny car is a mustang but at least you can see something of a mustang in the shape, not true with this one.

Matt F1 does race there - there is a 3.2 mile F1 circuit there built in 84 you can see on goggle maps - However ticket sales dont support the f1 hosting fee so it's up to local governments to offset it with tax credits and other incentives. With bernie the goblin hes trying to say he's helping out the track by waiving that fee but in the end he stands to make much more money by claiming all profits.

@FP2 how is this going to help them - they are in debt on the facilities and management - eccelstone will make far more money this way as he gets all royalties and it will do nothing to overcome there current debt. I think if the government allows the debt to be written down someone will buy it and hopefully demolish the buildings and other areas that have lead to the shortfall. They could also qualify for grants by using some of the property for a solar array

@MitchJBaier @Baljit your an "expert" at drifting - so that means you have your own 1300hp drift spec sc430 which would mean you were actually Daigo himself. Who coincidentally has said numerous times that he is still developing the car. Which means even he's not an expert in his own car. Which is why the people you claim are handicapped by there massive power inferiority are surrounding him in the championship including being ahead of him. And if Daigo is driving dirty that's ultimately for the judges to decide as they really are the "experts" in that regard. And also all of the extra hp is a double edge sword since there is no off the shelf tire tested capable of managing it nor are there proven techniques for dealing with it either. I don't think most pro drivers consider themselves to be experts at drifting just at drifting there own cars. An expert in drifting is saying that you can master any car and few outside auto reviewers like Tiff and KT haven proven that much.

@SWR since you response boils down to you made a bunch of changes to an untested platform. And that cookie cutter decisions are being made to a car that in no way resembles the stock one - I'll leave it at that and say good luck.
2 years ago on Madmike, Dmac, Rod And Fredric On Gatebil 2012
@FredricAasbo True there's no such thing as bad publicity :) - I don't get out to drift events very much anymore except the ones at LBGP and the SEMA related events just because I have too many hats right now. Sine I am working on road race parts for the boxer configured cars it's likely I will end up spending more time in the future at them though. I still watch Formula D online when I remember.
SWK - the entire car is a one off. So if it was all about time / results then they should have left it unpainted and done test and tune days first instead - Also yes it is a drift car in a sport all about style. That you would even claim a professional car can somehow overlook design and engineering for looks makes your oppinion less than accurate. Look at the field thats obviously not the case.
777 - if you had put any actual thought into your arguments at all you'd realize the 86 has literally millions of hours of development time before it was brought to market. And if you had ever taken suspension 101 you'd understand what a bad idea it is to take a new relatively untuned platform and start adding loads of offset. As you will quickly start having to chase down problems in handling that wouldn't otherwise exist. And by your comments you might as well stick another 1inch spacer in there and get 15 degrees more steering.
Grayson - there are some things that are universally understood like stiffening a chassis and adding brush bars etc but to start monekeying around with a totally new platform just because other completely different types of cars do it is a bad and pointless idea. If the cars platform is so good from the factory as is claimed you'd have to be out of your mind to makes such changes without testing - Just like the people who assume you can stagger tires sizes on these just because it's rwd and find out when there lap times starting falling off a cliff that you can't ham fist it based on the past.
@Tarmac Attack what you know is 0 - this isn't a drift car it's a professional drift car and it has to adhere to standards you can't comprehend obviously. That you claim it's a work of art, and then immediately assume they can just half ass things because its a drift car and it will be supposedly smashed up soon. Points to how obviously ill informed you are about professional levels of drifting.
As if Toyota made the conciseness decision to be poorly represented on a new model by half ass mechanics dot com. Is more laughable than your inability to stay consistent and your initial and continuing ability to appear to have any rationality at all. Your comments are pointless because they have no bearing at all.
I can be as critical as I want, that's what comment sections are for. And even offered some legitimate reasons for it and you basically came back with nu-uh. I'm laughing at you and you've earned it, please continue.
Next time don't try to run people down atop your bandwagon - you failed. Get over it and make room for people that are trying to engage in the conversation for or against instead of drooling over sticker packages and hype or whatever planet your from.
Moving on to SWR I am surprised that they decided to go with such an extreme width given the development of other drift car like HKS and Greddy who don't seem to be advocating it. Also that since you were obviously planning on that from the beginning that modifications to the fenders weren't made before paint.
@Tarmac Attack OMG not the dreaded negative commentary - what has the world come to. I love how I have complete and total ownership of your emotional well being with my comments - Please continue to cuss and act exasperated for my amusement.
I didnt expect a canned answer quite so soon - but do you have any proof that the wheels stick out like a low rider to get 10 degrees extra lock ? probably not form over function repeater. It's far more likely especially given the setup of the other two high profile drift cars that Motegi doesn't have the right offsets yet to supply them. And if you knew anything about anything you'd already know scion is incredibly concerned about the brands image and if it doesn't look professional it only hurts them and by default support for the car.
@ninjapirate2 I agree its the ugliest looking drift car I have ever seen and such a massive departure from the original rocket bunny concept that I have to wonder if they just haven't had time for custom offsets yet.

@dakota_dewolf You have to keep in mind at the end of the day companies that sponsor them want the best return on investment they can. Companies like Ford etc may be ok with sheanigans now but not when some kid from india or china steps up with a chevy product and starts moping the floor because they are more dedicated things will change quick - now that loeb dominated the last rally cross you will see that unfold quickly in that sport just the same.
2 years ago on Ryan Tuerck’s Nissan 240sx Drift Car Trio
@dakota_dewolf I think your missing the point - newbs don't work there ass off and go into huge debt just to drive around the same beat up pos they always have. They do it so they can get to the next level where he is at where you can run a nice car hard and afford to fix it. It's the equivalent to a professional athlete like basketball dressing like a hobo in some old rebok pumps while playing pick up games. - Theres an old saying "practice doesnt make perfect - perfect practice makes perfect" and one day the "pros" in drifting will be forced to compete with the same mindset as other competitors that want it more then them and will go the extra mile to train everyday with the best equipment they can.
lol back in 97 me and 5 other guys had a small car club DT Exocet which is drift team missle in french - At that time in so cal you drifted beater cars because they were cheap, you could get tires at used tire king for 30 installed. And we were all living hand to mouth. Same way it had been since I first started driving azusa etc. And would see slide squad dave and it was probably the same since decades before that - Now people with means have these beat up cars and think it's cool. When I was a kid we called these people posers. Posers who instead of rattle caning to cover up the rust and make a crappy car look a little nicer. Take nice cars and spend 4 grand to make them look like crap - theres nothing cool about being a poser.
