It's amazing that they'd screw up baseball coverage like that, considered they broadcast MLB games. At least with the way they ignore the NHL, they can hide behind the business excuse of not hyping a league for which they don't own broadcast rights.

I wouldn't exactly use the term "extensively broadcast" for content that's only showing up on ESPN3. Still, it's a nice move by the KHL to establish a toehold here in the U.S. Don't forget that they have a couple games coming up in January at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, too.

Parker has been this way for ages, back to his days in Detroit as a print troll (err... newspaper columnist). Unfortunately, many outlets don't value the ability of a commentator to offer insight, but rather simply to provoke reaction.

Nah, they should go for televising local adult kickball leagues. Guaranteed hilarity.

Far too many sports bloggers look at credentials as a goal in and of themselves. Sorry, but getting that "we gave it our all out there" quote in the flesh doesn't make your writing any more interesting, and unfortunately, athletes are increasingly conditioned to give out nothing more than that.

Insightful stuff - I do like the characterization of B/R as "the wildly popular bar that a lot of people hate but is always busy." Often I think bloggers (who are most vocal about these issues) look at other sites from their own narrow perspective, rather than that of the majority of readers. What's the old quote? "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."

In the interest of full disclosure, I run SB Nation's site covering the Nashville Predators.

Meh. Cowherd's simply trolling, and naturally it'll work. His job is to draw attention and generate conversation, so he lets loose with stuff like this often.
