Thinking about what the reasons Kanye West gave to part ways with Nike makes me realize how wrong we are with our priorities.
Kanye says he needs to provide for his daughter. Obviously, her daughter, with the money Kanye has earned so far, and were she in an average family, would be covered for about 345 years. But he wants more. He wants her to have a Bentley, a house in Hollywood Hills, and so on.
Is being able to have everything the right way?

One thing I've observed about the sneaker game since I've been "back" at it (circa 2008 or so) is that, most sneakers, and even maybe some of the most hyped retros, like the Jordan XIs, tend to drop their higher price in time.
Take the Concords, for example, back in their last retro release, you couldn't get your hands in a pair for less than 350-400 bucks. Just checked e bay a minute ago and found a pair of new ones for 226. Not cheap, but definitely cheaper than before.
Or look at the ill-fated (IMO at least) Kobe VIIs..A week ago I spotted a pair of the Washingtons that I bought for 210 bucks in the nike Outlet for 100 bucks...
My point being..give it the enough amount of time (a lot of it), and most sneakers tend to lower their price. With their counted Yeexceptions...

The phoniest commercial I've seen. I was shocked he didn't flopped when he fist-saluted the little kids in the commercial.

I believe a big difference between the two lines is that Jordan was allowed to estrange himself from the swoosh on the design of his shoes, seeing little to no trace of Nike Brand on the shoes. From AJ 7s on, we couldn't see one Nike logo or swoosh anywhere but the box.
Lebron hasn't been able to do that, and in a way, that gives a little aura of exclusivity to Jordan. Being the succesful athlete Lebron is, I can't quite understand why Nike hasn't been able to let their child ride the bike without training wheels, but it certainly affects his image, because there can't be a "Lebron Brand" yet, which, by the AJ XI was a de facto.
Maybe Nike tought otherwise about creating an exclusive line for Lebron since the dissapointment Vince Carter was (a lot of us got to think "hey...maybe THIS is the new Jordan...after all dude leaped a over french guy in a dunk) only to realize, quoting James Hetfield's mom, "the brightest flame burns quickest"
Lebron's line, as Jordan's can sadly be compared most of the times in terms of looks, because there aren't enough athletes in a competitive level to really test the performance of the shoes. And, lookswise, I think Jordans were created for a smaller type of players (maybe SGs or PGs) whereas Lebrons are constructed for Forwards or Centers, so in consequence, smaller people are going to rock Jordans, bigger fellas are going to wear Lebrons, and Hypebeasts are for sure going to have Jordans on their feet.

3 months, 2 weeks ago on The Grail Guide: 5 steps you shouldn’t forget when searching for your kicks
@dguy94 @number1HeatRocka But I agree with @number1HeatRocka ...a lot of people these days have a "grail" every other week...and they don't stop to think of the meaning of the word. Not that we compare something Jesus drank from a product like shoes, but I think calling something a Holy Grail might mean a pair of kicks that you like more than any other shoe you will ever see on your life. And I see a lot of guys out there calling Lebron Tens their grails...only to call the Lebron Elevens their grails six months later...personally, I think my grails are the Concord Elevens, though they aren't THAT difficult to get nowadays, think about 2007...when they haven't been retroed in a while.
In the end, I think a "Grail pair of shoes" might be the ones you will like most of all ever. They might be as hard to find as a virgin in Jersey, or as simple as a pair of Chucks, but they will mean more than any other pair to you
I just saw the brief resume of Leroy Smith (excellent job researching Juan), and they should call him Leroy Smooth...the guy has absolutely nothing to envy MJ. In fact, MJ might be the one who should envy not having so much media pressure on sometimes. I mean, they guy is probably a millionaire too, and the only difference is that Leroy can't afford only one Ferrari instead of a hundred Ferraris Michael can, but Leroy hasn't had to deal with the gambling or divorce scandals so...who's Winning now?
