Rant finished, Michael? Sounds like a personal problem to me, certainly a shallow and spoilt first-world problem.
Fulfillment and delivery are business headaches, compounded by the increasingly short attention spans of nearly everyone connected to the Internet. You bring up Uber et al, but that's a completely different product, business model, and real-world experience.
A UPS truck can have up to several hundred packages for delivery on a single run. Promising time-specific delivery for each of those packages is a stupid expectation. If UPS promised delivery at 08.30, and then there's an unavoidable delay--road construction, accident, breakdown--your frustration, and those of everyone else waiting for the truck's packages, would be greatly magnified. By providing a wide window, expectations are managed. Japan experimented with deliveries of surgical-precision time, but it was a mess. Far too many delivery trucks on the road to meet all the expectations, high costs and losses, and a reality that made little sense overall.
Seriously, you sound like a spoiled Net child.

Like gift cards, it's a cash loan to Amazon, without any interest.
They're not tied to any other currency or basket of currencies after purchase. High-risk purchase.
But people will lap it all up, loan Amazon money in a high-risk investment... Because "virtual currencies" are gaining traction. What a joke.

All in all, I'd say it was a step down in UI and UX.

A waste of real estate on smaller screens, and it's "noisy". It's like the designers all had big screens in doing their work, and didn't actually use it on small screens.
Why do you keep sucking up valuable screen space with the large Pando Monthly promo, which actually is of interest to just a small number of users who might attend? Cut it into a third and stick it above the ticker, on the right.
Also, buggy response in Mac Chrome. Calls to action often don't work.
Sorry, PandoDaily, not TC!

@ContentAdder Why did the underwriters struggle nearly all day to keep the closing price above the listing price, keeping it at 23 cents above? Sounds like immense desperation and failure to price appropriately.

But "Game of Thrones" is on iTunes in a number of countries, including Europe, in both English and the local language. For example, in France:
