No, if we don't like it we won't buy it and they will have to stop production or change engine formats. So the regardless of how we feel about it argument doesn't apply. "Hybrid" is still just a feel good word to satisfy government mandates and tree huggers who want to push their ideas of what a car should be onto the rest of us. The bottom line is a supra is a performance car, and if they compromise that idea too much it wont sell. The supra was a great car and should be again, but with all the sand in our vaginas hopefully it comes with free floor mats so it doesnt get all over. Then again, most of us performance enthusiasts and gear heads are not the target market and should roll over and take it for the future.
I really wish someone would make a 2000gt reproduction body. I think it has got to be one of the best looking classic cars. Plus it would be great to get a repo body, and add in modern materials, suspension etc without fear of cutting up a high value car.
Auto only, meh no thanks.
I've got a dsg in my gti, and while it is faster than the manual option its pretty boring. Its enjoyable on the daily commute but it will never be a weekend car, the transmission makes it feel of soulless.
I worked for Vw as a tech for a number of years and i have to wonder if there was any factory push to get the dsg into this instead of the air transmission. I doubt that the dsg would hold up reliably over the course of a racing series but after having to sit through countless meetings about how great they are going to be I cant help but wonder if they will start seeing use at higher level series.
It took me a minute to realize there was no rear glass on the rx7 either, just the carbon what a great car.
I really like that truck, it was actually pretty cool. Reminded me of all the lifted trucks in the states except for that tiny rear axle under it.
Good post. I do like the backs of the skylines debadged and i think the carbon mirrors are a good touch. It's sad that half these mods are illegal in california for no good reason. Nice car.
I normally don't like the cars with a huge amount of negative camber but this car looks great. I don't see this car as a race car, or car driven fast but a nice cruiser to show off on the weekends. I say that, but for all i know this car gets stuck on driveways and has to go around speed bumps which would take a little of the fun out of it for the driver.
I'm obviously bias but get rid of the rotary? Really? Would the car have been cooler with a 2jz or Lsx swap? Not a chance. This is a fantastic build.
I like the 67 coupe from the parking lot. Its great to see someone restoring a non fastback mustang
@Frances The Mute I wouldnt mind seeing a couple articles like this showing up over the next year. Maybe a protouring feature or classic racer feature.
I really like the picture of the subie going through the tires. But the shot of the old mustang is what drew me in to this post. Gotta love those classics
@TimMorgan @JDMized I vote innocent until proven guilty, obviously speedhunters didn't take the photos so they probably had permission to use them or something of the sort. If modified doesn't mind than why should I? In the end they are just trying to show people builds they haven't seen before and they accomplished that. This is my first time seeing the car and I'm glad I had the chance to read about it.
.
I have a lot of respect for anyone who is willing to take on a car with little aftermarket support like this. It always means more headache and fabrication time. Good work.
I love that side exit exhaust, this car looks like a ton of fun to drive! Great build
Yeah, im a little tired of seeing 240 Ls swaps, but i understand it. It makes since for competition and the street versions do sound great when they drive past you. In some ways I'm glad american engines into japanese cars has become so popular. Growing up i definitely felt like you were either into domestics or imports. I always hated that pressure to go with one side or the other when i liked cars from both sides. Hopefully the Ls swapping trend helps to blur those lines. I even noticed a Ls swapped 240 autocrossing in hot rod magazine last month.
@weasel Agreed, I myself owned a pair of rotas about ten years ago when i was fresh out of highschool. Now that i'm older and can afford better i wouldnt dream of putting a knock off on my car. I enjoy purchasing and supporting from a company that has the passion to design these items as apposed to just copying someone else and undercutting their price.
I think his 911's look amazing. I'd be curious to see what other cars he is looking forward to working on in the future?
I love this truck, purpose built, original, and some cool fabrication.
