Dammit it was my birthday this weekend and I ended up spending it at two childrens parties instead of this. WHY MUST WE GROW OLDER?!?!?!

Deriously this is one of the best events in Socal. More people should go to this. In fact, Speedhunters should do a car show/#featurethis at the next one. :)

@AbdHadieHR Because on SH, they would even feature a TRA/Kyoto Vespa and send a video crew, 2 photogs and write 5 articles on it. I know I am tired of it because I "got" where they were coming from/going to after their first car, and saw how they could apply that style to almost anything. Lo! and behold, we were treated to each and every LB/TRA car like it was the birth of a new era. Its feeling rammed down our throats now.

@speedhunters_dino @D1RGE EXE I disagree Dino. You guys have jumped completely in bed with Kato and Miura and if you tally how many features you've done on them, its vastly more than any other body kit maker anywhere. And its just a bodykit maker.

Please don't get me wrong, I do like the style, but I would rather see progression from them instead of same-old, same-old. Arches, Aero, paint, wheels, done.  Other than putting the same kit on a bunch of different cars, where is the progression? And I'm not talking going from reverse-swan-neck wing stays to duckbill spoilers. I mean, when will they team up with a real motorsports powerhouse and do a FIA GT kit? Team with AMG or M/// or something and run a car at the green hell....ANYTHING!?!?!

Speedhunters, can we take like, a 3 month break from Liberty Walk/TRA Kyoto?Rocket Bunny overfenders on everything? Its been 3 years of oversaturation now. Just because they keep doing different cars the exact same way doesn't mean we need a "Groundbreaking!" article and subsequent articles trumpeting it each and every week. It's jumped the shark and headed for meme territory.

Lin, I am extremely jealous. As I opened speedhunters and saw the cover shot, the hair on my arms stood up and my wife could hear "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh....." from my corner desk. I love my modern cars, JDM, muscle, rods, all of it. Been to more car meets than I can remember. But this tent. THIS tent....*gasp*

More pure beauty and art in one supple flank of that Porsche than in all the cars from 1980 on! Of course, what else would Ralph Lauren collect? I could drool over these few cars forever, and just keep getting drawn to just how PERFECT the panels were formed. Just......so. good.

@Brett Allen And the cars that got so many into the scene....Hondas....four-wheel steering Preludes that outhandled 911's, ITR/CTRs that punched out cars WAY above their weight, NSeX's and S2000s that today are incomparable bang for the buck performance, and above all FUN. 90's are only now being truly missed as we get disappointed again and again year after year by the new options of cars to buy.

Awesome to hear from you Mr Horner! My questions:

How do you mediate between two superstar drivers when something happens like Seb and Webber coming together a few years ago?

What kind of offer is thrown on the table when you court someone like Vettel?

How early do you step into a young driver's career and start to offer assistance?

What era/model of F1 car is, to you, the ultimate? And if you were to become the head of the FIA, would you try to bring some of the aural glory of F1 back, of are you all about moving forward to more exotic systems a la Le Mans?

Is the future of F1, in your eyes, heading towards electric motors or where?

Thank you!

Every time someone says "drive by wire" I want to die inside. I can live with flappy-paddle shifters but please god don't ever try to tell me that you will feel the road better with a steering wheel that's not even connected to the actual steering. I know its a free car for the weekend so you can't really talk about any shortcomings (or it'll be the last free ride you get), but c'mon Larry. Electric steering.

@Paddy McGrath @apex_DNA I'm with Apex on this. How many major car manufacturers are from Japan? I'd say 3 now. Now count the features SH has done on Nissans (Countless), Toyotas (about half the Nissans) and Hondas (maybe 10 in SH history)

There's your double standard. You barely feature the absolute uber cream of the crop for Honda, yet damn near anything with a sparkly paint job and TE37SLs  from Nissan is like HOLD THE FRONT PAGE ZOMG!!! Look at the size of the scenes. Yet you overlook arguably the largest.

I know the VW kids are just as butthurt. Except for the last 2 years, they got plenty before the new crew joined and axed the dub meet coverage.

@Kevski Style @D1RGE EXE @robzor I download torrents of all the races the day after and sometimes can find them live streamed. Normally they only broadcast Monaco and the USGP.

I would assume that if they take out the play in the sidewall, there must be more allowed in the suspension to retain grip. As now, I know there is more in the sidewall than in the suspension travel. Take that away and how will the cars stay on the track? I guess what I am saying is, I doubt they would just throw 18s at the teams and say, "deal with it". But then again, these are the best engineers in the world....i have no problem seeing what the engineers could come up with to compensate for the more rigid tires.

@Kevski Style @robzor
So if there is less sidewall, wouldn't the engineers just change the SUSPENSION? I would hope they could think of that.....I mean, it is adjustable, right? Tell me if I got this wrong here.

Looked like a good start. It was great to actually watch the whole thing live, too! Its one of the areas I always felt D1 seriously messed up on. Instead, they stagnated while Formula D progressed year after year, adapting, changing, and now.....what a crushing blow. I sincerely hope more D1/D1SL drivers come out to play at the next FD. This one had a few good names but had nowhere near the depth of talent we would normally see.

Congrats to Masao Suenaga :) Even if he didn't know hahahahah!

@DrewRobertson @D1RGE EXE Muscle car blood runs deeply throughout all of America. Undisputable point. From Motor City and Chi-town to the South, Texas, the plains, its part of all of us. But you really cant compare whats on the west coast to anywhere else. SoCal has a simply stupid amount of vehicles, little deterioration, and a century of power/stars/collectors/money that has always attracted the cream of the automotive world's crop. C&C doesnt even scratch the surface of what's in the auto museums around much less the serious collector's garages.

I went to a little car show in Long Beach about 4 years ago. It was a nameless summer weekend, a small park, not really advertised or anything, mostly a meet where people just shined up what they had in the garage, and it was 95% muscle/kustom/classics, and kept in their families since the 70s and earlier. It was over a thousand cars deep, almost all could have graced a magazine cover (many had at one time or another). And a meet like that doesn't even get attention.

http://s234.photobucket.com/user/Housetian/library/Lakewood%20Car%20Show%2008-15-2010

That's what it's like. What classics are rare to see around the rest of the country, are still daily driven and common sight on our streets and in our garages.

Good coverage, nice to see the rest of the country has caught on (to another SoCal car trend). But this article reminded me of being in Florida....every single local had to find a way to point out how some little thing was better than in Calif, yet never once did I ever say something from Cali was better than Florida.

STOP IT.

There is more muscle cars, history and knowledge forgotten all over Long Beach, San Diego, Central Cal, San Jose, Oakland, San Berdoo, Riverside and many more places than Georgia will EVER get. Sure you got NASCAR and the like but homie you are deluding yourself. The whole damn muscle car culture basically came from SoCal.

That meet also looked like it encompassed about 1/8 of the size and variety and value of the original C&C in Irvine. There is more money and historic rolling steel in just LA than in the entire south put together. Good try, but nope, its still not better than SoCal.
