@mistermisterior Whoa there buddy, your logic gets in the way of drumming up a story that isn't there about gender roles and women-in-tech-insert-firestorm-here.Please note that those topics are serious and real issues, but making a big deal that people are holding the highly visible CEO of huge public company to a high standard is ridiculous. Male or female, she should have had someone make sure she was on time for the meeting.

@dstalkI didn't say it was. The people that do that shit hurt their draft stock just the same.
5 months, 3 weeks ago on Grotesque NFL reaction to an openly gay player proves why Congress must pass non-discrimination law
@littlemac "SEC Defensive Player of the Year" does not translate into "borderline". It doesn't mean he will take the NFL by storm, but he definitely was not a mediocre player in college.
His draft stock will fall not because he's gay, but because he's created a media circus and NFL GM's and head coaches despise players that present a distraction in the locker room.
This makes a lot of sense politically. Individual states are starting to decriminalize it but there's large amounts of people that still think any drug is the tool of the devil and making a unilateral move on decriminalization will put Obama square in the crosshairs of these people. It's better to let their elected officials in Congress take the heat for any attempts to decriminalize nationally. That way his administration can just shrug and say it wasn't them, it was Congress.

@BrooklynBrett Right, except I never said "maybe we need more government". There is a middle ground between "work harder" conservatism and "we need more social programs" liberalism. Maybe we could start by scaling back the gigantic scope of the security state that has built up over the past decade and put some of that cash towards education?
1 year ago on Silicon Valley’s ugly rich-poor gap: What’s the tech world gonna do about it?
@Todd Dunning Ah yes, the traditional "If only they worked harder" conservative. You understand that when you start out disadvantaged you can't just magically make that go away through hard work? When you come from a poor background you don't have the same networking opportunities, the same access to technology, the same access to education? There are outliers that everyone likes to point to as success stories, but they're usually one in a million, or at least one in tens of thousands. You can keep ignoring the growing income gap all you want. Once the poor feel they have nothing left to lose, they'll have no problem shooting you in your face and taking your stuff regardless of how hard you worked for it. You can yell about "trustafarian occupy potheads" all you want, whatever that means, while an angry mob kills you.
You stay classy, Paul Carr.
