@RussellGroce Not likely, Samsung wants their new flag ship phone to be the best it can. They will probably do this as fast as possible since the carriers want to sell as many of them as they can they should approve the update very quickly.
As a T-Mobile subscriber I got this a while back. It is very nice and a great feature to have.
Samsung. HTC is just about the absolute worst OEM when it comes to updates. Not just updating their handsets late, but a lot of times, not updating them at all.
HTC is being run down in to the sewer by the morons in charge. An HTC One GE would be a great thing. Copy what Samsung is doing. They are number one on market share and sales for a reason!!!! Stop the darn exclusive deals with AT&T and Verizon. Listen to your customers and what they want! HTC will probably not last much longer. They brought it down no themselves.
@MOD64 Then this phone is not for you. This phone has better hardware than a Nexus and will be updated straight from Google itself. Custom Rom's don't always have all the features as stock Android right away and can be a little wonky with issues.
@mtechnic6 I thought that was a Samsung software settings issue. I also wold like to know if this would be possible.
YES!
There’s no reason to have phones like the Galaxy Mega because they simply don’t fit in any category.
These phones are known as Phablets.
You say that there is no real need for phone/tablet hybrids this big?
This has nothing to do with their being a real need for them, this phablets are for the people that want this type of device. It is a "novelty" item. I would have never thought that a phone larger than 4.3in would be a good idea. Then I saw the galaxy s3 and had to have it. I love my phone. A friend of mine has the Note 2, and I wish I had the money to get it.
Will I buy something as big as these mega phablets? Probably not. But there is always a chance I could change my mind later on.
Keep in mind. Most people said the same thing about phablets like the Note 1 and Note 2, those phablets are selling very well.
Is there a need for them? No, will people still buy them? Yes.
As long as Samsung is making money of these phablets, why not?
If you don't like them, that is just fine. But honestly, these phablets will probably still sell in the millions.
@JonathanPiedrahitaVilla Oh my God, what is your problem? Other sites are reporting the same thing. Sony and HTC had officially reported some updates, even went as far as giving dates, and those updates where then cancelled. Nothing on this life is for sure but the day we were born that that we will all die on day as well. He is reporting news but advising caution. Please go complain someplace else.
@CallChrisNow @rhymiZ lol, good one CallChrisNow!!!
@uswallow1123 That setting is just software support. The OS and the S4 processor are capable of LTE service, unfortunately, like the article stated, the first T-Mobile GS3's SGH-T999 do not have an internal LTE antenna (the Hardware) needed to access the service.
You can tell that he is an Apple supporter. He has gone way overboard, bordering on ridiculous.
@ClarkKent113 Plus, people would really look funny talking on something that big!
@ClarkKent113 I agree with your post. I would be scared to look at that size a phone if they kept the bezel and physical buttons they way they are.
@RaduTanasescu @KevinMCom @thenew3 The point that they are trying to make is that Google wants to make the app for the Iphone, but Apple will not allow them to do it because they prefer to use their own app. They don't care that their app is not ready, they just do not want to have Google providing any service for them. Google would love to do it, they just can't do it until Apple lets them.
@MrBogard Can you explain that to me? If you are under a subsidy, you have to wait until you are able to change/upgrade your phone anyway. With the new plan, the second you pay your phone, you can just get another one, you don't have to wait for your contract to allow you to upgrade. Usual upgrades under contract are 18-24 months under your contract, upgrade time under EIP is 20, or sooner if you pay the phone earlier that that. Also, this will not take effect until next year, when T-Mobile is expected to launch their brand spanking new LTE network. That is probably why they are making of all the changes effective next year. So, I really don't understand your comment.
However, I you just buy the phone and don't use the EIP, you do not have to sign up for another contract extension. You should also mention that.
So, about Jelly Bean in the US? T-Mobile released the update a few weeks back. Sprint did as well. I feel bad for the AT&T and specially Verizon customers. Those two carriers should have released the update by now too.
@JosephAnthonyRobles That's right. Sprint was first, then we got it from T-Mobile, my guess is AT&T is next, then Verizon.
