am i the only one that wants the sox to go on a ten game losing streak so we can garuntee some good draft picks?
you guys are still here? pack it up, it's time for football already. last one out turn out the light.
They must be putting extra delusion in your Bud light.
I'm no Beckett fan, even when he was the Commander, but in fairness if Wakefield (my favorite) had given up 4 runs we would be saying he pitched well and didn't have any run support.
Win it all for Johnny!
Why is it no one can see the pattern? The Sox for years have matched the level of play of the opposing team, we step it up against the Yankees and other tough teams and cruise against the Royals and Twins etc. The other correlated issues is a lack of scouting, I'd be willing to bet the Twins started such unfamiliar pitchers because they know we get shut out or held to 3 runs or less against pitchers we have not seen before.
We have a decent record against Verlander or Sabbathia or Rivera, but put us up against the Dedunos of the world and we are stymied. The real question isn't "who are these red sox?" but "why are they habitually under performing against poorer teams?". I think it's probably a combination of poor scouting, poor preparation and being too comfortable.
Our culture it seems is to do just enough to get by. That's who we are.
I will dance with joy when bobby announces his exit press conference, ESPN has room for Bobby and Tito? Oh, that will be fun!
