@TheEleventhWheatley try this week's Verity Podcast. They are not falling over it either, but they manage to be fairly upbeat. And they all like different parts of it. Quite an enjoyable listen really.

@twoheartsonemind Yes, it takes at least two viewings (I downloaded it onto ipod to watch at the gym and found myself fighting tears on the treadmill, that was very unexpected)
2 weeks, 2 days ago on Your Verdict on Dark Water & Episode Ranking
@LordRassilon @cyberbrayde Yes, the anguish was conveyed, but the TARDIS has been portrayed as a person and often discussed as such. therefore I was distrubed by the "beating" of the TARDIS.

STOP THE PRESS:
Big Finish have a FREE story for download. 17 minutes long. Suitably scary for Halloween. Go to BigFinishDOTcom go to the news box and click on the Halloween tab. It is not a Doctor Who story (it is a Dark Shadows story) but it gives you an idea of the production quality (high) and the quality of writing (high).

@DWISCOOL100 Spare Parts, most definitely. The Master (OMG, put everyone through a wringer) Chimes of Midnight (listen in the Dark, in fact listening to many in the dark definitely boosts the eeek/creep factor), and Holy Terror (once you get beyond the character of Frobisher. All of these recommendations are ONLY 2.99 for a download. (Mind you, get the CD and the download is free, so you can listen before your shiny CD arrives. Which I only realised two weeks ago!)
PS Next year Halloween is on a Saturday. Connor should get his wish with a Wholoween episode!
So many of the suggestions have been done by Big Finish - and there are times I think they should should be filmed. Talking of which, to get into the mood for tomorrow I have just listened to "Spare Parts" (bloody cheap at 2.99 for a download). Scary sad stuff.
I wish it could have been best three....

Another really absorbing, wonderfully written article. Thanks Ruth for sharing those ideas and hypotheses with us.
The only thing I would mention is that with Orson Pink, we know he is a descendant of Danny. Clara jumps to the conclusion he is a descendant of hers too. I think that is a fallacy and just Moffatt playing with us (again).
@Polyphase @DavrosLives I agree. I think there was more to the Mummy than meets the eye. Did you notice Perkins and Missy both use iPads even though they are centuaries apart (I presume) in time. It could not be a set mistake since the BBC tends to make wonderful gizmos when they can with everyday items.

The pro-choice "it is only a baby" theme left a horrible taste in the mouth. I disliked so much about this episode.

We seem to be digressing, big time, into the audience numbers. Mine will never be counted since I watch it via iTunes (worth waiting up until 12.05 PST (Canada) to watch it in glorious HiDef without adverts...!)

Enjoyable article. I think there have been some "marmite" episodes the quality continues to be extremely good. I just hope the arc does not turn out to be something "meh".

Changed my mind - go for her first one - The Marian Conspiracy. Both the Doctor and Evelyn are quite wonderful in this audio.

Oh thank you for this wonderful article/obit.
I have LOVED the Evelyn Smyth audios. She had that tone of voice that made it believeable that she was used to dealing with the occasional dimwitted students - and was frequently used on the Sixth Doctor.
I would recommend Jubilee for an Evelyn Smythe Audio. It is only 2.99 for the download. Not only a wonderful audio, one of the Sixth Doctor's best, but Evelyn is wonderful in this one.
She is a great companion. R.I.P.
Are the publicity photos after a devestating event? The school looks like it has been smeared in coal dust. I'm itching to take some bleach to the rain damage above the sign. :(

Listen was scary and clever, but I don't think it will stand up to repeated re-watches. Blink will stand the test of time. Having said that, I would disappointed in the AI score, I was hoping for high 80s/Low 90s.

@Planet of the Deaf You were able to view it at Leicester Square - I had an envy moment reading that ;)
2 months, 2 weeks ago on Is Capaldi’s Accent Causing Issues?
Total rubbish article, this Canadian has no problems at all with his accent.
The Guardian was going for a ClickBait headline too as most of the article did not discuss Americans lack of aural comprehension. Disappointing tacky journalism.
@Liana21 Definitely Jubiliee. Holy Terror is also good, especially if you can cope with the idea of his companion being a shape shifter who is currently in the guise of a Penguin... Re-reading this I feel I have made it sound silly, but the sorry is definitely both thought provoking, gripping and has its moment of disquiet. And - it is only 2.99. A total steal!
2 months, 2 weeks ago on The Worlds of Doctor Who Review
@12th's Sonic (I'm Listening!) Yes. The first 50 in the main range are only 2.99 each. Check back on some of Gustaff's articles for an idea of which to get first. (His recommendations are invariably spot on!)
Oh interesting review. I must confess I had not been tempted to buy The Worlds until I read the article.
@Liana21 Also, just for the rest of this month, a Colin Baker audio The Juggernaut is avaialable for 2.99 (download price only) as a special offer. Then it goes up to 12.99 again.
Thanks Liam, I really reading enjoyed this article, thanks for sharing with us. (PS for any Big Finish fans there is a season of Robin of Sherwood audios, a tenner for the season, or a fiver per. Have to admit I got them for Armitage....)

That nine hour video of River, absolutely wonderful. It doesn't include the minisodes, but it is just wonderful to see the episodes of River in order, from Amy's pregnancy onwards. Fabulous stuff, and I really enjoyed it. I do so hope we see a glimpse of her with Capaldi, as she said the Doctors keep popping up in the wrong order...

Wonderful, some more to keep an eye out for. So pleased with the recommendation of the Pirates. Once I got my head around it I truly loved it! But reviews I read where a bit dismissive.
okay, rewatched it. Bits still make my toes curl with embarrassment, but the scene with Matt and the baby is exquisite.

Delighted to see some great writers there. Wish we could get another Paul Cornell. Also wish we could someone who was female. (If they can do that in American sci fi series not sure why it is a problem in UK series?)

Can you imagine how awesome it would be to introduce someone to Doctor Who using the 50th Anniversary special? I have successfully used Blink and 11th Hour before. I would never think of the Human Nature/Family of Blood. Not sure about that one (although, one of my all time favourites).

Damn fine article, and fast, and well thought out. BRAVO
Whilst I do think the show could do with more input from the other gender, that test does not work with seasons 5 onwards since Amy is often talking with the only other female around who turns out to be River having run with the fact that she knows who she is in the Doctor's timeline and in the confines of a 45 minute story they will be driving the story forward (RTD is a tad more character driven than Moffatt).

Superb article. Yes, they are both about one man but Light has a lot of companions, Leelah, Peri, Nyssa, Ace and Charley. Plus William Russell (Ian) and Frazer Hines (Jamie) as both themselves and their Doctors (which bizarrely is not mentioned on the listings. It was sublime Audio. We were truly spoiled last year. I do hope we get something rather good again next year (for the 10th anniversary of New Who).
6 months ago on The Day of the Doctor vs The Light at the End
@Doctor What and Where Big Finish cannot do New Who doctors unfortunately, so they could not have any references to Doctors 9-11.
Mind you Light has the best section of dialogue ever with Ace's glorious roundup of Doctors 1-8 “So are you seriously telling me all those blokes, old man white hair, Beatles haircut, frilly shirt, long scarf big eyes, cricket boy, Joseph and his amazing technicolor dreamcoat, and Lord Byron, all of them—they were you?”
@Night at the Whovies Definitely River's. Awesome art.

This episode, which is patchy (as you note) also suffered from having followed one of the best episodes from new Who, namely Day of the Doctor.
