Hey the Braves just ate 18 million and dumped Uggla, we could do the same.

My 2 cents. If Haren pitches well, and is a small factor in us making the playoffs........then who cares about 10 million next year. He'll probably be hurt then anyway

@EephusBlue @Disgruntled Goat @davstein48 I don't think you can drop 30 points and say it was bad luck. Maybe he played the whole season with 3 broken fingers. But not bad luck

@Disgruntled Goat @davstein48 sure some, in a game or two, but not a whole season. It seems to me when a player is in a good groove he is hitting the ball hard so more balls are line drives  and fall in. When his timing his off he hits more weak shots that are caught and turned into outs

I am sorry but I cannot accept that aplayer had a bad year BECAUSE of a drop in BABIP. That useless stat is an INDICATION of a bad year not a cause.

Ok so everyone else is back. So they are saying we like how the third base coach is working. We like How Lopes  is helping the running game. We like the progress of the pitching staff. We like the hitting. But we just don't like your managing decisions.

@LA_Woman @ManBearDave @davstein48 @TommyDieterich @Disgruntled Goat He I think Walt Alston  skipped Drysdale in game 7 of Series and Pitched Koufax on 2 days rest. He won and we won that series. Sandy retired at age 31. Just ramblin' thoughts

@TommyDieterich @Disgruntled Goat maybe we win and later on throw a tired Kershaw out there again in a must win. Who knows. Time will tell.

@TommyDieterich @davstein48 @Disgruntled Goat A win is great. I think its a bad decision to go on 3 days rest so early in the playoffs when its not in a must win game.

@Dang88 @davstein48 right. Why do we have to give it a new name? Like climate change instead of global warming. or wetland instead of swamp

Back to Mike's original post. Although not a 'stat' I always thought 'regression' and also BABIP are 2 of the most meaningless things to point out. Lets take Nolasco--He comes and pitches 7 games that if he did that for his career would be better than any pitcher ever.  And then say 'well his BABIP is so much lower than his norm it cannot last. Well that's deep and when he pitches one bad game its said we knew the regression would be coming. Well ok so whats your point that a pitcher has good streaks that are better than his norm that must end sometime. So you have to give it a name. just sayin'
