jaimiVB - did you try back carries?
One reason baby arches back is a possible suboccibital strain. Find a chiropractic who works with little ones and have you baby checked. That is usual the main reason. A baby/child on you back will be just fine.

There is not a carrier out there that is made for facing out and will give baby the needed support for having the femur head properly in the socket to harden correctly. Once studying the hip development in detail you will see just how important proper positioning is. The Gemini and any other carrier is not sufficient for a healthy hip development of a baby. Baby's hip is pretty much done developing at 2 years of age, facing out continually may cause major problems down the road at about age 15 -17 as some pediatric orthopedic surgeons suggest. Why put your baby at risk? Why not use best practice? Do you also face baby out in the car seat too early? Because baby likes to see? Same thing, it is not safe. Why do it?
Babywearing Institute has more on this, including articles from Dr. Kirkilionis on the babywearingschool.com website. Certified educators know the background information on why not to face out and can help moms and dads learn to wear baby on the back rather than facing out, if baby is not comfortable backing up all the time. Good article, we need more of them to educate on safe babywearing.
